How exciting to get our first LL Bean store in the 757. This was a big deal for VB to land over Norfolk. Located in the Lynnhaven Mall on the East side. They have redone the entire area and this is a new build out. A new entrance to the mall was added beside it. You can enter from the outside. The parking situation always depends on day and time. I've now visited four times and weekdays is easy, weekends of course busier. Trash is kept at a minimum and can are at the main entrance if needed. The store really just about has it all! From kayaks to men's & women's clothing. From bikes to fishing rods. From shoes to tents and even some snack products. But what sets them apart is their outdoor experiences which I will touch on. If there is a limitation it's the fact they do not carry children's clothing and shoes. Also no fire arms. The store is very well laid out in sections. The checkout is in the back. There is an entrance/exit to the mall. I have had opportunities to try on clothing and the changing areas are off to the side toward the mall. Customer service has been spectacular. The employees really know their product and are eager to assist. No pressure on purchasing either. At one point while trying on shorts it took me 30 min and the clerk was always around to check in, get different sizes etc. I experienced a checkout and return of products. The process was very smooth on both ends. The clerks were professional and friendly. Products are quality, so expect to pay for what you get. Finally I also enjoyed an Outdoor Discovery School. These brochures are by the checkout and a LCD screen right of the checkout has the calendar with times and prices. You can purchase this at the store, or online and pricing is very affordable. So what are they? You can learn kayaking, or fly fishing among other items. Not all experiences are for novice. My family went on a two hour kayak trip at Stumpy Lake. It was perfect for the kids to learn proper techniques and safety in the craft. Instructors Jason P. (Yelp Elite) & David were rock stars. My family really enjoyed. Different regions have different experiences based on the locales geography. They also have FREE experiences such as how to set up a tent that's done in the store. No reservation required. I know there is competition with Dicks and REI. But I'm a big fan of LL Bean.

Beautiful store with easy access from the parking lot. Prices are expensive as per usual with LLBean but the store was very clean and the staff was friendly. Found just what I was looking for and they even have me free stickers.

Nice store, very friendly sales staff - not too intrusive but helpful and available. We were shoe shopping. Most of the shoes that are in their catalogs are where as well as a great sales rack! The only complaint is that the shoes are displayed in such a way you can't see them without pulling them out from display on the wall. And they are stacked on top of one another that it is difficult. I was hoping to shop the home goods - no home goods here. Kayaks, bikes, backpacks - it's all here! They also have the LL Bean Signature. A nice upscale line!

Beautiful store that still has that new store smell. If you're looking for L.L.Bean this is definitely the place to come.

During the summer months I often rent kayaks here due to the extremely cheap cost of only $10 a day or $20 for the weekend. It wasn't until I became a home owner that I I became a homeowner and recently that I started renting a lawn equipment to include aerators And dethatchers, I had zero problems renting a 8 foot trailer from them. The wife and I have talked about renting one of their 16 foot travel trailer in taking it for a trip this coming spring. **Overall, I have nothing bad to speak about MWR rental unlike a few of the other yelp reviews here. Just like everywhere else when you rent something make sure you thoroughly look over your equipment and gear, if you have any issues bring it up with them and have it taken care of. Have a great Navy Day

Due to their pathetic working hours it was challenging for a retired veteran to leave his 7-4 job to get it there by 3pm, an hour before they closed I might add. I called as a courtesy on my way to let them know I'll be a few minutes late. I was quickly reminded of their one minute late policy and was called a Smart *** on the phone by their employee. I showed up 15 min late and was charged $50 and a lecture on making it to muster on time. Talked to the manager about the name calling and ridiculous late fee, he told me it was a business and has a masters degree in business. Well Graduate, I'll no longer look to your business and be sure to guide others away. Get your money back from Phoenix online because they failed you. They also hit me about it being dirty, it was waaaaay cleaner when I returned it, I even fixed broken parts on the trailer because it was a safety issue. It's a shame MWR has come to this. They are a DOD contract protected business with no personal initiative to make it better or have ownership. I recommend renting from established real businesses that want your business back. It's just a matter of time when MWR loses these programs/opportunities because of the poor business model the manager displayed. I feel sorry for those that rent there and don't read this.

Been driving by for a while and have meant to come see it and check things out. Last summer was crazy with travel and I was never home long enough to establish a routine. This summer, we're home and we finally made it over and have joined. There are tons of pickle ball courts, with more on the way. They have cameras set up to check the courts, and weather, and linked with multiple apps to sync up with others or drop-in play for the day. This location has plenty of parking and lighted courts at night where you can play well into the night without a set stop time (it says until last member leaves presently). They also host several tournaments here with cash prizes for the top 3 in each category. There are several membership (annual/monthly) options for single or families and Jim, the one who runs the office, is super nice and friendly and accommodating. They have rackets for sale inside you can try out for a game or two and borrow until you find what works for you - and they're very easygoing and friendly. Pickleball is a fun sport and seems to welcome all members and levels of play and it's a good workout. I'm in!
