I was surfing on Yelp and found someone else who reviewed a tire store, and it reminded me of a recent experience. Like almost all vehicle owners experience at one time or another, left work for the day and as I approached my truck I realized I had a flat tire. Luckily I had an air compressor at work, filled it and could hear the hiss, but a tire store (not this one) was close. (I will not say which tire store I drove to first because that is not how I am - however if you ask me personally I will tell you!). That retailer looked at my tire for about 15 minutes. A salesperson came out from the back with a grim look and gave me the bad news - I needed a new tire, old one was beyond repair though it was only 3 months old. I had to ask him, "Is there no way to repair it as I am leaving for the weekend?" Guess the nail did a lot of damage because his response was, "No, it is well beyond repair". Anyway, this bearer of bad news continued to make my day (and got me thinking I would have to cancel my weekend plans - as I have a four wheel drive he gave me the spiel that all 4 tires need to be replaced for wear and tread and blah blah blah (if you have owned a 4 wheel drive I have no doubt you have heard this speech as well). Then he dropped the final bomb - my size was not in stock so come back next week. Oh, and it will be $1500 for new tires.
I don't know to this day what made me do what I did next (I think it was the $1500 price tag when I had just purchased tires 3 months ago). I still had air in the tire and drove down the street to Tirecraft. They were closing for the weekend. The owner, Bart, listened to my tale of woe and how I was heading out of town. Bart offered to stay late and asked one of his workers to also stay late. They took the truck keys and went to the back. Bart came out from the back 5 minutes later and told me, "That will be $40". I think I said, "For what, looking at it?". He kind of chuckled and said, "No, for the fix". After I finished picking my jaw up off the floor I told him what the other store had told me. His response was simple - "This is all I do and all I ever have done. I know tires".
Or something like that, I might be glamorizing it a bit because I was so happy.
Well folks, that alone converted me. I had another vehicle that did need tires so I took it to them. I have since found out about their community involvement with various groups like hockey clubs and Just Kruzin Car Club. Strongly recommend for honest service. read more
