Rather typical middle of the road JDW in the city centre of Nottingham. Decent layout, medium size, tiny outside seating area to the front, a beer garden to the rear, not unpleasant decor. Food's 101 of course, but I can't resist those Steak Club Tuesdays. 14 Oz rump steak with fries, peas and a grilled tomato for £ 8.85, really can't complain. Although this time the meat quality was rather mixed, and it wasn't quite cooked to order (medium rare, not rare).
Fair number of real ales (£ 2.05), but the Lager selection is a bit limited (no Punk IPA, no Kronenbourg, and the Devil's Backbone had run out). Service ranges from super friendly to zombie face monkey, depending on the individual waitress.
Average for a Spoon, but certainly not one of the dingy ones. read more
