I thankfully don't get ill that often, but whenever I do, this place is a staple, whether the doctor has ordered it or not. If you're just after something standard like cough sweets and flu drinks, they've got that in abundance, and they also have an ever expanding supply of no-smoking paraphernalia, but it's the quick service (compared to other chemists I've visited) when they're bringing your prescription from the back that impresses me most about this place. Yes, it's smaller than other chemists so perhaps it should be quicker, but they bring your pills to you within a couple of minutes even every time. Splendid speed.

Being an asthmatic, they were able to give me helpful information about which remedies I could and couldn't use. Stocked to the brim with cold and flu sweets, remedies and headache pills, this place is a quick stop shop whenever you feel a dreaded ache or pain or illness coming in. The prices are the same as you'd expect from a Lloyds pharmacy and they offer a prescription service too.

So, it's nice if you can get a pharmacy that makes life a little easier. The Medichem pharmacy of Chapel A is a fair enough place to visit in this instance. They have stacks of handy ailses filled with all the easy to find flu tablets, cough medicines, pain killers, sanitary items, cosmetics and any other supplementaries that you might need in support of that prescription - or even without the prescription! It's situated just a little further down from the main area of Chapel A, so it's along a reasonably busy road, but you can always park in the Lidl opposite in a pinch. Staff seem helpful and such, so all in all, not a bad place to go if you're on the underside of the weather!

As well as the a range of vitamins and supplements they stock the Nelsons homeopathic range which I'm not sure you can even find in most Boots stores. There is a 99p section with some good bargains, as well as everything else you would expect in a chemist - shampoo, soap, plasters, make up, sanitary towels, cold/flu remedies, I could go on...oh and a photo booth. Situated along the main strip of shops on Roundhay road, just before that awful junction and traffic lights section, it is easy to find and really handy. They sell a number of useful products, cold and flu medicines, shampoos, bath items, plasters, skin creams and all of the usual items that you would expect to find in a pharmacy. The staff also seem pretty helpful. We've all got those niggling questions that aren't quite big enough to warrant a doctor's appointment, so in this event, just nip in and ask - that's what they're there for! Although I love big branch pharmacies such as boots because of the huge range of make up and bath bubbles, I really appreciate the speed at which this place gets you your medication. When you are feeling ill the last thing you want to do is to wait 15 minutes for the pharmacist to get you the drugs that are fingers crossed going to make you feel better again. This place is a little rescue from having to cue for ages and it's well stocked with treatments you don't need to see your doctor for. For such a small place they have an impressive amount, from make-up to protein shakes, splints and slings to all you need for the colds and flu viruses that tend to make their rounds this time of year.

Naseem's is the only surviving independent in Rothwell and seems to be holding it's own against the much bigger chain pharmacy around the corner. In my opinion Naseem's is surviving because it is still a place where you can find those odd elusive items that everyone needs but no one can find, they also have a nice selection of the kinds of sweets you only ever see in a chemist shop, things like colts foot rock and imps.. Of course the big plus here is the personal and friendly service and the willingness to go that extra mile to help a customer out. I have sometimes found the counter service a little slow but that is more than made up for by the smiles.

However being such a small store, it has got a rather limited range of products, especially in the baby section, and if I need to pick up some nappies or wipes for the youngest of the Mini MacDoos, it can be a bit hit or miss. It's a shame really as I'd rather not have to go into a supermarket just for one item. I've also had problems getting in to see a Pharmacist, again I suppose it's to be expected in a small store without the 'economy of scale' to offer a service that covers their full opening hours. Having said that, the staff in there are really friendly and the Pharmacists have always been very helpful and knowledgable when I've needed to see them. The man behind the till kept humming though. And not the same tune that was playing out the speakers. It was most bizarre and unfortunately that fact alone cemented my resolve not to go back again, mostly because there's a perfectly good Boots near my work. And this one is always busy.

There makeup range No7 is excellet and so are the No7 beauty products. They often run excellent offers like BOGOF and 3 for 2. I managed to somehow get 6 cans of right guard for the price of one as they were on both BOGOF and 3 for 2 at the same time although I expect this was glich. I will certainly be popping in more often to check the special offers.
