Craft beer and wine bar with outdoor seating? What more could this California girl want??…read more We were walking around Modena when it started to rain. So, we stopped by Mamma Puglia's for a drink to wait it out. They had some outdoor seating under an awning. The staff were nice and the prices were reasonable. And they offered a small selection of snacks, which smelled delish but we weren't hungry at that time. If we had more time in Modena, I would go back.

Admittedly, we came here because of Master of None (seems like we're doing a Master of None Modena…read moretour). I swear I'm not a huge groupy - it was just easier to go to already vetted places. Wines by the glass for €6-10 with a good selection of bubbles, whites, and reds. They also had some Italian traditional cocktails and then some more intriguing stuff like a tequila based negroni. We decided to stick with wines before dinner. - Brut rose: not too sweet - Montepulciano: my favorite - House made beer with sea salt: unique with a hint of salt They brought us complimentary crudités (carrots and pickles), focaccia, and crackers, which was really nice. We also ordered some olives. Everything came in really pretty dishes that reminded me of stuff used for high tea. There's a cute patio outside, and there are small tables inside. Service was patient and friendly. It has a very relaxed vibe, and you just get the sense that other patrons there are all just in a good mood. Also, I love the wall of shelves of wine scattered with some books (I dream of having something like this in my house one day). It was a super cute place for a drink before dinner. I would happily come back.

Wine and Cured Meat before Dinner!…read more I love the casual vibe of Enoteca Tabarro. Here you are welcome by the Owner/Server with a happy smile. This was probably one of the best lunches I had in my entire Italy trip and also one of the cheapest. I finished it off with a tiramisu and an espresso. My favourite part of not only the restaurant but Parma is the lack of tourists. I was the only none Italian in the restaurant and there were practically no tourists in the city. A very welcome change from more touristic areas like Venice and Florence.
