As we arrived at Locanda Sandi I was immediately struck with how cute the inn and it's restaurant were. Upon parking we took a garden path to arrive at the restaurant. The interior is very elegant but in a cozy way. After being sat at our table our waiter brought us a complimentary glass of prosecco to welcome us from Locanda Sandi's own vineyards. It was delicious! As for the food, however, it was a bit underwhelming. For our pasta course we ordered the spaghetti with lobster. When the dish arrived my nose was immediately assaulted with the overwhelming fishy scent coming off it, but I gave it a try anyway. I wish I hadn't. I took one bite of the dish and after two chews I did something I haven't done since I was a small child-spit my food out. The pasta was hard and the dish as a whole incredibly fishy tasting- to the point that all other flavors were cancelled out. Needless to say I didn't take any other bites and asked the waiter to take the dish away the next time he came to check on us. Our main meat entree was the veal chop topped with truffle butter. The truffle butter was incredibly delicious but there wasn't enough of it for the whole chop and unfortunately the chop itself left something to be desired. It wasn't bad but it was a bit tough, bland, and tasted like something I could have had in my mom's kitchen. The accompanying side dish of veggies (potatoes and peppers) was tasty and the peppers helped in adding some flavor to the veal chop once the truffle butter ran out. Once the meal was over and we went to pay, I was surprised when the manager came out to settle our bill and informed us the spaghetti with lobster was taken off our bill. It was a nice and unexpected (and certainly appreciated) gesture. Overall, I'd go back for the wine but skip the food. read more
This is a great little winery in the Proscecco Valley. They will do several free tastings and allow you to walk around on the property. The employees are friendly and accommodating to visitors that just want to check out their wines. We have been here multiple times to take friends for a relaxing drive through the area and stop off for a traditional Italian experience. read more
