I'm glad we did because it because it was one of the best mid-day meals of our entire two week trip through Italy, Germany and Austria. La Vegana is a small, unassuming restaurant and shop in a quiet neighborhood. There are a few tables for eating in but it appears to me that much of their business is take away and selling vegan grocery items. The menu for the day is written out on a chalk board. We were able to decipher it with no problem but if your Italian is marginal the woman at the counter spoke excellent English and was helpful in making our selections. I ordered ravioli spinaci. It was very good. I ate vegan ravioli three times while in Italy, once when we made it ourselves in a cooking class in Como, then at an upscale vegan restaurant in Venezia, and finally here at La Vegana. The ravioli at La Vegana was not as fancy as at the restaurant in Venezia -- but the taste was just as good. The ravioli we made ourselves was also good -- but we're just beginners when it comes to making pasta. My traveling companions report that they also enjoyed there selections. If you are a vegan and looking for good vegan food in Ferrara, I recommend La Vegana. They open at 11:00am and close at 9:00pm. It is worth seeking out.

Unfortunately, this restaurant…read moredoesn't take reservations, so we arrived just a little after 7, and didn't get seated till a little after 8. So we waited for about an hour before we got seated. So keep that in mind, if you're trying to eat here. There are also not a lot of tables here, so if you have a large party, you will definitely be waiting a long long time. We got some of the fried mozzarella to share, which was pretty good! I also got a little serving of mushrooms that were doused in oil. They were pretty tasty! For my main dish, I got the pesto pasta, and my wife got a pasta dish, but I can't remember which one it was. It was good though! My pesto pasta was excellent!!! I am normally not a fan of pesto, but this dish was excellent! It wasn't an overwhelming taste of pesto like how it can be in some dishes. It's a pretty popular dish here as well. I saw a few tables that had it when we went to our table. All the food was great! Bacaro Quebrado isn't an expensive restaurant at all. Everything is very affordable, and they don't make you pay so much. The portion sizes of our pasta were pretty big too. We sat inside, but there are a few tables outside. It's the kind of place, where you sit wherever you're seated, because they don't have a lot of space to accommodate your preferred seating. I would definitely come back here if I ever found myself in Venice again in the future.
