this outfit is nothing but ripoff artists....NEVER NEVER EVER use them for anything....I bid on an item online on their platform yesterday morning....the item showed the current bid as $150.....I placed my high bid of $325 and the current bid jumped up to $250 and said i was the high bidder.....when the live auction happened and this lot came up the auctioneer hammered it at $325 and gave it to another bidder....I just called them and got a lady on the phone that couldn't give directions around the corner....so she put a guy on...assuming it was the owner....and he couldn't explain it either.....I asked "How can you not explain how that happened and it's your own business"...??? then he slipped up and said his auctioneer just picked an online bid to give it to....WHAT...????? in their website info it encourages you to use their platform to save on buyer's fees etc.....so I did....and this is how I'm treated...??? these are crooks of the first degree.....you are insane to ever use them for anything....just look at these other reviews....they couldn't explain how this could have happened....they kept saying it was "hard to explain".....WTF....???? if the owner of the business can't explain why something like that happened then how is the public ever going to figure out how they work.....talk about truly sucking.....the owner that commented below is a fucking asshole..... and now these crooks open a case against my account preventing me from ever bidding on their crap again.....after my experience there was no way I could trust anything they do or say.....I already opened my own account again you by vowing to never do business with you again..... Though the owners are reputable, the help can not be trusted with getting all your items into the auction. I was taken advantage of.

contrary to most reviews of this house i have read, i found locati, at least the employeen i spoke with several times, to be impatient, dismissive and not helpful. i found out recently that i had bid on an item six years ago and had not paid. invaluable referred me to the auction house. I told the lady i was unaware of my failure or behaviour. i told her i had no recollection or emails i could find. i told her i would glad pay any deficit caused my failure to pay. she told me she had no time. invaluable called her and she refused to reconsider the situation. so after six years i have a black mark for something i do not recall , and despite me being the only party attempting to clear up this problem. yes, i am angry and frustrated. there are statutes of limitations on crimes, apparently not for auction houses. that sucks, and so does locati. read more

Great auction house and awesome owners that are very honest and a pleasure to work with. They run extremely organized auctions that do very well. I would recommend bringing your possible treasure to these guys to see if it is suitable for their auction. read more

This review is long overdue. I have bought twice from Locati, viewed online, sight unseen of the antiques purchased, and been very pleased with the items. But equally as important as the pleasure of the beautiful pieces purchased, was the pleasant and professional manner by Melissa and Michael regarding the overall process. My questions about the items were answered promptly/ prior to the auctions, and then Melissa worked with me re/shipping, and/or pickup. Melissa helped me immensely when I showed up at the auction house on a Friday, with a broken down truck, and had to get a rental car, and leave the item to be picked up on Sunday. She was super understanding and kind, and I will never forget it. Now I have another purchase, and I'm looking forward to receiving it. Again, when I called re/the condition report, both Michael and Melissa were available to talk with me and/or answer my emails, and very accommodating. Helped find a new home for a unique antique Victorian chair. Needed to find someone who would appreciate it. Excellent service from start to end. The process was clearly expained. Pictures showed the chair in all positions for viewers to see. Final payment made as promised. Sellers need to understand that this is an auction, so final values depend on buyers. A recent transaction seemed to point to an attitude to sell an item, without the consent of the seller before accepting a bid that was low. First they said the item was worth a nice amount, but suggested a very low starting bid. Since we balked, they raised the suggested starting amount, but did not mention that there was no reserve on the item. It sold at the starting bid and the seller was not contacted to see if it was an acceptable bid. By the time they were questioned, it was too late, the item was already picked up. I guess if there was a positive side to this, the buyer got a real bargain. If you are told an item is worth XXX dollars, then why not suggest a relevant starting price? Asking what your bottom line is, is not a professional way to assist a seller on pricing an item. My next antique will go to eBay. read more
