Thanks to its movie nights and location in Mitte, it attracts a bit of a hipster clientele. But rest assured that you won't have to put up with any hipster pretentiousness here. Most cocktails run the gamut of €5-7, which I feel like is pretty reasonable for Mitte. I have no problem dropping €5.50 on a gin and tonic or €6.50 on an Old Fashioned, though I might be a bit biased coming from San Francisco. I thought that the bartenders were friendly enough by Berlin standards -- I appreciated how he asked if I had any gin preferences so I wouldn't end up paying for an expensive G&T with Bombay Sapphire. Dark and smoky (while not overly so, those sensitive to cigarette smoke might want to think twice about enjoying a few libations here), Z-Bar is a very laidback and artsy bar that I'd recommend to anyone who wants to have a conversation with their friends over a few drinks.

We had a fun time... once we stepped outside to the patio. Inside was just a bunch of metalheads drinking beer and watching Metal videos on TV screens. Outside was the rif raf-- several German dudes who were very funny and lots of fun-- but of course Turbos always are. For all their lack of fashion sense, they remain unpretentious and quite frankly I prefer their company to that of hipsters. Maybe that's why my friends dubbed me "Skid Magnet" in high school. Despite what you might think, I don't think this bar even hosts metal bands. It's really just a quiet (really!) pub with long haired headbangers on all the TVs. Beers on tap? Don't remember. Jagermeister? Of course, but not since 2nd year Uni for me.This place is a classic case of the people you're with making your good time what it is. The bar itself isn't really much to write home about, but it is a niche market that might deserve a pop in to see who's there.

I came across this pub by accident. Sometimes i think you are meant to find certain places as was…read morethe case with this pub. As soon as i walked in i felt right at home. The owner (Ecki) is lovely and made me feel welcome right from the start. They serve a good selection of draught beers, wine and whiskys and if you're hungry or just peckish something on the menu will be just right for you. It's also a great pub to watch german football on the big screen and they have live-music sessions too. Since my first visit i have been back loads of time and have never been disappointed. A gem of a find.
