Stopped by Locoz Tacoz, a very no frills, authentic Mexican counter spot. Tried a mix: quesabirria, four street tacos (asada, pastor, carnitas, campechano), a fish taco, plus chips and guac. The quesabirria is the standout, really flavorful and easily their best menu item. The rest of the tacos were solid, just didn't really separate themselves. Chips and guacamole were a letdown. For the price I was hoping for something fresher. Also no cups for water, so you're either bringing one or buying a drink. We went in to Locoz Tacoz expecting tasty, authentic Mexican street food in a charming little spot, and that's exactly what we got. My Quesabirria were delicious- tender meat, lots of cheese, onions, cilantro, and a nice crunchy shell. The staff were all super friendly and our food was ready fast. They don't have lots of seating, but as soon as a table left a worker was there right away to clear it for the next customers. This place offers a fast casual dining experience with moderate prices. I ordered the burrito with Al Pastor meat and a side of fries. I felt that burrito was a good weight and a more bang for your buck option but it was lacking on flavor. My opinion is that the burrito was made with what tasted like Great Value branded ingredients and could be something an Irish dive bar could also serve. I was left full but disappointed. The food looks great, feels like a good value, but is lacking on the flavor. I could hardly taste the meat. I think they put a lot of rice in the burrito which watered down a lot of the al pastor flavor. I'm not discouraged from coming back and trying something else. I finally checked out Locoz for the first time with a friend group. This place offers a quaint seating area and is able to seat small parties of 4 or less. They offer a condensed menu of basic Mexican and Tex Mex foods to choose from such as tacos, sopes, tortas, loaded fries, and breakfast burritos (this is a newly announced menu item). I was disappointed that they don't offer smaller portion sizes for the menu items since the items were way too much food, but on the plus side the amount of food is a good price and enough to share with another person. I tried their sopes and they were decent, it definitely didn't need as much lettuce on top as they gave me and it definitely packed some flavor. read more

WOULD recommend (tacos). Stopped by for an event for a quick bite. Upon entry, this spot seemed pretty chill, the lady at the register was very welcoming. Definitely felt like sitting inside and eating but I give better reviews when I eat in my car. Ordered 3 street tacos to-go, 1 pollo, 1 asada, 1 tinga (mixture of chorizo, chicken, onions, etc). Just from the look of the tacos, they seemed to be pretty authentic. When tasting the pollo taco, the only thing I could complain about was the texture of chicken. Tender at first bit but near the end of bite, ran into some hardness. Not saying the chicken is undercooked at all though. Next was the asada, which had the most flavor out of the three, chef's kisses for that one. Last one was the tinga, which was alright. The chorizo was the star of the show, still not as much flavor as the asada but still a very decent taco. (just disclaimer: I am not a taco expert by any means, I just go by what I taste) Overall, I would comeback, they are local, had good service, and showed authenticity nonetheless, with food that I would give 7/10 overall. I think next time I'll try the Gringo tacos since I prefer a flour tortilla. Spent about $14 with tip. Second time: Quesabirria tacos (3) with a sid for chips & queso. - best thing I've gotten! The meat was tender, consume was perfect. Spent $24 with tip. Service: both times everyone was so kind! Food was out within 5 mins each time. I went around 5pm on both days. It's a counter service place so it's very casual. A decent amount of seating options, tables were clean and open! I personally like the mild salsa the best (had the best flavor for me)! My friend and I stopped by Locoz Tacoz on a weekday midday for lunch. She ordered the two tacos special which came with fries, and I ordered the quesabirria tacos. There is a good amount of seating inside, and their menu is very extensive. However, you cannot order single tacos (they come in orders of 3), and if you want only 2 you pretty much need to get the 2 tacos deal with fries. Our food came out pretty quickly and we were able to also try the four salsas they had at the counter. They don't have any cups for water available and had only bottled water for purchase when we went, so either bring your own water or get a fountain drink/agua fresca if you're looking for a beverage. The tacos and consome were quite filling and my friend enjoyed her order as well. She asked for the cheese sauce on the side, which we agreed was a good choice as the cheese appeared to harden pretty quickly and was very thick, which would've made the fries soggy. The counter salsas were a nice touch but I felt like most of them were too salty for my taste. I paid around $17 after tax for my quesabirria tacos. In a few minutes I was enjoying their chicken tinga & beef lengua tacos, so stuffed & juicy I could barely pick them up! The tinga was spicy and smoky; the lengua was tender, tasty & not fatty at all. Their hot sauces delivered, as well - if you like picante, look for the habanero sauce! There is plenty of parking on the back parking lot of the building or across the street at Schnucks. I wanted to make a visit here after seeing a couple of reels on Instagram from fellow foodies. My first mistake was coming here on a Tuesday night because, everyone loves a good Taco Tuesday out somewhere. My siblings and I walk up to the door and the line was out the door. So we held the door open and stood half in the restaurant and half in the line. Immediately, presumably the owner shouts "Close my doors, you're letting the air out!' Yikes....and yes that's him on the pic yelling at us as I was literally taking a pic of the menu. So that felt a bit unwelcoming. We scrunch up to the 4 football player teens so that we can fit inside the store. I pan my eyes around the small restaurant. There's limited seating (all full), one lady who may be the expeditor (wasn't cooking or taking orders), three cooks, and one cashier (I think the owner). There's also a window for pick up orders. There's a visible sign that essentially tells you to know what you want to order before you get up to the counter yet the 4 dudes in front of us could not decide so after being in line for what was probably 30 mins (door to counter) they spent a good 5-7 mins trying to get their order figured out and ordered. Inside I'm dying and getting frustrated but I don't say anything. FINALLY we get to the counter and Mr. Locoz tells us that he needs to step away to help with orders. I thought it would be maybe 5 mins since there's 5 people total but nope, twenty whole minutes. During this time, Uber Eats and Door Dash folks come straight to the front where we are like zombies asking for their customer's orders. He allows several of them to speak to him right away for the order. At this point, I was frustrated and ask when we'd be able to place our order because at this point, we'd probably been better off ordering online and getting it to go as it would have been faster. He sharply replies that he has to get the food for those customers before it gets cold. I flash back to a time where I was at Five Guys in Florissant and the store had 4 clerks - 3 cooks and 1 cashier and they were all young and they decided to actually stop taking walk-ins AFTER us so that they could catch up on their online orders that was overwhelming them. I will never forget how happy I was to see young teens/adults make an executive decision for better service. Yet here we are almost an hour in line total and still haven't gotten to place our order. He then comes back around to us and takes our order. We knew what we wanted already so that part was quick. Thankfully, we was able to find a table to sit and wait because Lord forbid if we need to stand by the door or outside and let out this man's air. I ordered the 2 Gringo Tacos And Side Of Mexi Fries (#2 Special). And boy did I find out real quick when I got home, how much of a #2 it was. The tacos were fine. The cheese, not so much. So.freaking.good! I first heard of Locoz Tacoz when they were located next door to Amsterdam Tavern a few years back. They had the best shrimp tacos I've ever had and that's what kept me coming back for more. Today was my first day visiting them since they had a permanent spot, and thankfully, everything is still the same. When I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the cashier and she was nice to answer any questions I had. They still had the 3 tacos for whatever price and even let me customize them to get the shrimp and cilantro only. Onions upset my stomach but rest assured, even without them, the shrimp still have tons of flavor. As an addition, I got some chips with guacamole and a peach/ mango margarita all to go. I'll be the first to admit, I didn't even wait to get home to have the first bite but as soon as I did, it tasted just like I remembered: fresh, flavorful, and mm mmm good! I absolutely loved everything about Locoz Tacoz, and I will definitely be back! I ordered Chicken Street Tacos, and my boyfriend ordered the Locoz Fries with Carne Asada. I really liked how the corn tortillas for my street tacos didn't fall apart as I ate them. We shared an Agua Fresca Pineapple drink and chips and salsa. The drink was refreshing, and I can tell the chips and salsa are homemade. The ingredients were all super fresh. Such delicious flavors with all the food! Service was excellent. The lady who took our order at the counter was very friendly and enthusiastic. I loved how she took the time to both greet every customer and thank everyone as they left.
