My wife and I came here based upon a recommendation from a friend. I must say the reviews on this restaurant was hot & cold with what seems like half the people loving it and half disappointed. The reviews of the burger being overcooked is accurate, but not to the point of being uneatable, just cooked well where we prefer medium with light pink center. The food was cooked to order, fresh and very tasty, but per other reviews, lacking in customer service and if they can figure out a medium temperature on the burger instead of well done, that would go a long way in bringing their ratings up. We didn't mind the wait for the food, we'd rather wait for Fresh hot food than get quick service with old food sitting on a warmer. The food is really good but the employees are only respectful and do what they said they'll do if the owner is there. I've stopped by for a number of lunches. And when the owner or manager is there everything is smooth. If not I will guaranteed be missing items or have things made incorrectly to how I asked. Also get attitude at the drive through for ordering food? If I could get good service when eating here I would recommend it everywhere. It consists of 3 patties and all the fixings and it will definitely fill you up. The burger is wrapped nicely and it doesn't fall apart as you eat it. The first time I came here I just got a regular cheeseburger from the drive through. I wasn't impressed. There are about a million places to get an over cooked burger. But since this place pretends to specialize in burgers, I thought maybe I'd get a thick juicy burger. The second time around I wanted to try their fish and chips. They look good on the menu. However what I got didn't resemble the photo on the menu at all. The fish didn't seem to be battered. It looks like they took very old frozen fish and put it directly into the fryer. I could tell it was old because was tough and chewy like things tend to get when they have freezer burn. The crinkle cut fries were fairly standard. When a dish comes with extra stuff, I really appreciate it if I'm asked wether or not I want it, or if I want something else instead. This came with a couple slices of lemon which more or less made things soggy, a couple servings of tartar sauce, and a handful of ketchup packets. All I really wanted was some cocktail sauce, but they didn't have any, despite it being on the menu. So I stopped to get some at the grocery store on my way home. I would have preferred my order to not include those other things because it's just a waste, since I just threw them all out. The guy that took my order was friendly though. But,,,,,, a little quality control would have been nice. My burger was over cooked past the point of being a hockey puck. The bloom is off the rose. It's been a little while since my last review of Five Star Burger, and in the last two or three visits, the quality and attention to detail seems to have faltered. Still not a bad burger, but they're just not what they were early days. The last burger was overcooked and dry, and the lettuce and tomato had seen better days. Service was ok, but when I'm at a place where you order at the counter and then fetch your food when it's ready, it's not like service is a real challenge in the first place. As for ambiance, well, there is none. I think the most disappointing thing about Five Star is how much their prices have increased. Yeah, I know times are tough, but it just seems like their prices have outpaced their competitors' prices. I'm not sure Five Star is worth it these days. This fast food joint is a favorite of my hubby's, although I don't know why - I never liked 5-Stars Hamburgers here in Lodi. The rude lady serving, see the receipt, was obnoxious, and ill mannered. We given this place too many chances. 90% of the times they have rude customer service. There has been times where we waited about 20min in the drive thru. Be prepared to wait longer than other drive thru and get bad customer service. Food is good but due to those two reasons I mentioned it's just not worth it. I often order the western burger! It's delicious and the fries are amazing. The shakes are great too. I ordered the fruit loop shake and it came with a large straw! First the good. The burgers were good. Better than national chains fast food with more variety. There is a lot of other things on the menu too which I did not order this trip but fish, shrimp and other fried things, corn dogs, hot dogs. My husband liked the fries. I thought they were average. Crinkle style with extra seasoned salt and off-brand ketchup. The bad. There's no patio dining. We walked up to order because we didn't want to eat in our freshly cleaned car and were not allowed to eat inside even distanced though no one else was there. The staff wore masks under nose and refused to allow us to use the outside restroom. She said the drive-through had the same question but offered no explanation and said she could see the difference. We live near this Five Star Burger location, but hadn't given it a try until yesterday. So glad we finally did! As my 11 year old said, this burger lives up to its name - five stars! Service was friendly, dining room was clean, and food was EXCELLENT. Seriously perfect classic burger joint grub. I subbed tater tots for fries with my burger combo and was so happy I was able to do that. I love a good tot and the ones served here were absolutely delicious dipped in super yummy Five Star sauce. I ate here at least 5 times before leaving a review. Honestly a solid and classic burger joint. Definitely the best burger in Lodi, always fresh, juicy and hot. The "five star" sauce is pretty good too. They use a good sesame bun that's lightly toasted, their Pattie's are flavorful as well which many burger joints nowadays lack. Do NOT order online via their app. They regularly lose online orders. The fries are their best offering here as they give huge heaping mounds of fries. Regular burgers are not bad, but In N Out is probably better and is cheaper than half their cost here. Their veggie sandwich is their best deal at about $5, which is really just a piling of all their veggies for burgers lumped together (there is NO veggie patty). Overall not a bad place, unless you order online, then that is a very bad experience. Very impressed with the food. It all was very tasty I got the double star I believe but wrapped in lettuce save the bread consumption. Meat was well seasoned and patties were pretty good size. All the produce was really fresh and tasted great, the lettuce was super crunchy big plus. Fries were good soda was good nothing to really complain about. Price was very decent 9 bucks for a double burger, fries and a drink. All my colleagues also got burgers and not one said something bad.
