Fans were fun and not overly rowdy and there are family sections available. Restrooms were clean if not pedestrian.

Inside however, the seats are comfy enough, there are plenty of people to help you find your seat on match day and the apparent security makes you feel rather safe. What really made the difference for me was what was outside the stadium so it was more than going to watch a rugby match. There was a few bars and a range of food stalls to cater for all your needs. Also there was a stage with bands playing and that made the ambience quite festive. I would have thought it was just for before the match but I was wrong - it kept on going post match which was great to manage the crowd so you don't have to all go and pile up at the nearest tube stations straight after the match. Pro tip: if you are a woman, you know that the queues to the toilets at half time and post match in the stadium are going to be long - so go to the outside toilets past the stage, no queue there, well worth the 1 minutes extra walk!

How can you seriously not love this team? What more do I need to say? The Hive has a capacity of 5,100 and is in North London. I hope they get back in the football league someday, they're currently in the conference premier. Nice stadium too. First-Hand Experience: Well when I was a kid I watched this team in the FA Cup on TV a lot, and loved them. So then when I grew up, my friend Dave and I did a London stadium tour, and we included Sutton. We got to see one of their home games against a local rival back in 07, and it was a thrilling time. I loved every minute. Their fans and stadium are tiny but brilliant. Kind of like my thingy. Sutton's ground is the Borough Sports Ground on Gander Green Lane in Sutton. It holds just over 5k. It's a nice ground and can create quite an atmosphere, but they're so far down the divisions that it hasn't really seen its glory days except in the FA Cup. The FA Cup is where Sutton made its name. They managed to beat FA Cup Champs and Premier League side Coventry in 1988. It wasn't called the Prem then but you know what I mean. The final score was 2-1. They've had other giant killings since then, too. I think it was Matthew Hanlan that got the winning goal. It is the only time a non league team has beaten a Prem team, other than Luton recently beating Norwich, and is the first time and only time a semi pro team has ever beaten a pro team since then. They play in bright orangey yellow which really gets me going. So to speak. I don't like that they're a London area team and that they're so far down the ladder, but for the history and the colours and the legend, I have to give the club a 5. They're only 2 tiers down from the league proper, so we can hope.

Suttton's football ground is the seen of an FA Cup giantkilling when Sutton United beat Coventry,…read morethe then holders in 1988. Since then Sutton has flited between the top levels of non-league football without ever really climbing to League football status. Which is a shame cos this ground would be a good place to host that level of football. It is quite big and one end curves like there is an althlic track round it. The other end behind the goal is quite close to the goal and not curved. The two sides are covered and one side has a large clubhouse which hosts a large bar area in the clubhouse stand and access is via Gander Green Lane, quite a central road to the West of Sutton town centre. West Sutton railway station is next door, therefore offering better transport links that most London football grounds. This place holds some more history. It is the place which hosted the first game for AFC Wimbledon, the breakaway club of Wimbledon FC, run by and for its supporters. It is home also to the Boom Boom Club, a very nice folk and blues club which holds regular successful events.

But not really, I mean they're really quite an adorable football club in the South East of London, which is the part of London which is most underrepresented by football teams and tourism too. Known as the Addicks because every single one of their fans is a junkie. (Jk). Especially Jonjo Shelvey (n/jk). First-Hand Experience: I've seen Charlton play once at home to a half-full stadium and once away, and they got battered. Live, in person I mean. I love Charlton though, great little SoLo club (South London, not the sexy American goalie), with a fantastic pedigree and youth academy. It was one of the few stadiums I never went to as a youth but I always followed the club's news and Garth Crooks was one of their standouts when I was a tiny lad. He's now an over-opinionated analyst. They have the craziest badge, which is just a white hand with a sword on a red and black circular background. Most of the reviews here are for the stadium instead of the club, so they should be moved to the stadium page which I am creating now. Millwall and Crystal Palace are their main rivals. They play in red to 27k fans which is, by the way, an absolutely enormous crowd for a smaller team. They were Prem runners up in 1937 (when it wasn't the Prem) just before the war, FA Cup runners up in 46 just after the war, and FA Cup Winners in 1947, their greatest moment. They have a player called Morgan Fox, but not the female Morgan Fox who I remember from when I was a kid. They were founded in 1905. I like this Only Fools And Horses story... Charlton Athletic featured in the ITV one-off drama Albert's Memorial, shown in September 2010 and starring David Jason. Jason's character, Harry, is revealed to be a Charlton Athletic fan. Harry later buries his friend Albert, draped in a Charlton Athletic flag, to which Frank says, "Hear that?". Harry replies, "No... What?" Frank says, "That's the sound of Albert turning in his grave. He hated Charlton Athletic." to which Harry replies, "Well, nobody's perfect." Anyway, a great team, minus one point for never winning the big one, and for being outside the top division for ages, and for being yet another London club.

A few years ago on a trip to London, i finally got to go to my first football match (in England,…read morethat is--i'd been to plenty in the states). Having gotten my ex to agree to go to a game, i set to work doing some research as to who was playing that weekend, and who had tickets that could actually be obtained without sacrifice of one or more limbs. And so i found myself looking up Charlton Athletic, who were helpful, if somewhat curt, over email, and sent tickets by post to me in Boston. Happy day! Naturally, on the day of the match, there was some delay involving shoe shopping, but at least i'd found myself last year's jersey on sale for five pounds--may as well fit in. The ticket agent at Charing Cross station basically laughed at me as i bought two tickets, considering how tardy we'd be. Getting off the train, i stumbled in the general direction of the Valley and found all the gates shut. We could hear the crowd noise on the inside that almost certainly meant a goal. Not knowing anything, i wasn't even sure late admission was allowed, and was worried and fixing blame on a certain £100 pair of boots, but eventually we circled around to find an open turnstile and got to some really nice seats just before the half. This was during the Addicks' last respectable season, and Darren Bent helped them thump Middlesbrough 3-0. It was a great time, with a supportive, yet charmingly profane crowd, and a nice, neighborhood atmosphere. This was even more in evidence as the happy crowd walked home after the match through the side streets in the area. So for better or worse, i adopted Charlton as my team then, cemented when i met a bunch of other supporters at the World Cup later that year. Since then, they've not done so well, and i hope it's not my fault, but you don't change your mind about such things. It's a nice place to watch a game, and a responsible club that looks after its community. And eventually they'll start getting results on the field again.

The hall area can be hired out for your evening events along side the outdoor areas being hired out in the summer months. Parking on site is limited but the park next door provides a convenient overspill parking area. Depending on your needs, social evening or a venue to host a training event this is a venue which can accommodate.

I was a soccer player in the UK on and off when I was there for the last 15 or 20 years, and while this doesn't rank alongside the best fields I've used, it's up to par and well-maintained and on the outskirts of London, near where my parents used to live. The only part of these facilities I ever used was the soccer (footy) field. It was a pretty standard field, with good grass and nice changing rooms. It definitely felt like a private school and not a public place. It's way out in Morden. It wasn't the best place I ever played football, but the facilities are just fine.
