His crew used a mechanical trenching machine that broke my sewer line, and rather than informing me, they covered it up with bricks, gravel, and dirt, leading to major plumbing failures over time. Upon further investigation, I discovered that The Nashville Handyman is not licensed to perform this type of work, which is illegal in Tennessee under T.C.A. § 62-6-503. The law states that unlicensed contractors may be held liable for treble damages--triple the actual repair costs. Even after being presented with undeniable evidence, they refused to fully take responsibility for the damages they caused. If you care about your home and finances, avoid this company. Always hire a licensed and reputable contractor instead.

Not even a courtesy return call or text, just dust. Rude is not the correct word. I've found, often, these company's, such as Angie's List, do not vet the people they send. Those companies are, at best, mere bulletin boards for a wide range of "handymen". You are just as likely to get someone who has serious problems with work, more than inexperienced, worse, than you are to get a reputable repairman. I've been had by these "we send people out" companies before so to have Austin merely lie and be rude, well, it could have been worse. So beware, not just of AAs but any company that is but a trailer in the woods sending strangers out to your home and family.

On one hand, there's Luke the handyman - Extremely…read moreinefficient, took over six hours over 2 days for a handful of minor tasks, of which he only completed 1 successfully - Did not perform several of the tasks I requested up front, didnt bother to schedule any sort of followup to finish the work despite me asking multiple times - Asked me for help lifting a heavy object in the middle of the work day - Didnt finish painting for some reason (see picture) - Replaced smoke detector batteries, except for the one in the garage. When the battery he forgot to replace did run out of juice a week later, another company discovered the wired smoke detectors werent connected, so they all had to be replaced. Whether this was incompetence or negligence on Luke's part, I cant say, but I would not trust him to keep your home safe On the other hand, there's Wayne the boss - a loose cannon, to put it mildly. His main role seems to be some sort of enforcer, as he lacks the technical skills to schedule appointments or provide payment receipts - Failed to schedule appointment, I had to text him to ask when they were coming (got a 1-word response) - Doesnt know how to use email, I had to repeatedly text him my own email, but he never figured it out so eventually I had to ask for HIS email in order for him to try to send me a receipt - Instead of emailing a receipt/bill like a normal business, he showed up at my door to demand payment, threatening to physically assault me. This was after I already offered to pay Luke when he left days prior and gave him a generous tip Again, the work that was done wasnt done properly, and I had to pay someone else to fix it.
