Here is one example of a visit where I was less than impressed due to a few problems On entering the ASDA car park from the entrance I saw about 6 trolleys laying on their side where people just leave them there. Usually they are cleared away regularly throughout the day. On getting to the store front there were very few trolleys left in the park, and no smaller trolleys. I walk into the store and there are no baskets. Usually there is somebody greeting you to give you a basket but there is nobody. Therefore, I have to go to the checkouts and try and get one, about 15 other people are trying to do this and it's chaos. Which now brings me on to the checkouts They were packed. There weren't too many open and each checkout had about 8 people waiting. Thus meaning it took about 5 minutes for somebody to come over and fix the weight problem because the bags were not set up properly. I love the Asda range of goods but this store is so lacking in the range and also the clientelle leaves a lot to be desired ..............

There is quite a wide range of groceries, newspapers, magazines, and plants and flowers outside too. There is a hot food counter selling fresh bacon or sausage rolls, pastries and takeaway tea and coffee. They sell a good selection of fresh cakes and bread which is delivered daily. The Spar also has a small selection of DVDs to rent. All in all this is a very popular shop selling a wide range of goods at reasonable prices. The queuing system is a little haphazard but that is really the only gripe I have. Most people are very polite and work out for themselves who is next in the queue!

A top quality deli at the westernmost point of the British isles. Manned (womanned?) by a dedicated group at the back of the shop who will knock you up a sandwich to go in minutes. Great local cheese counter. Lots of tasty pies, pasties, sausage rolls and scotch eggs. A couple of shelves of excellent white and red wines. And lots and lots of great quality bits and bobs from chocolates to pasta to dairy products. It's really well curated and the sort of place you'd expect to cost the earth. But it really doesn't. Very fair prices. A large baguette packed full of whatever you want will cost less than a fiver. We go there every day when we're on holiday and take our booty down to Whitesands for a delicious packed lunch. And when we're cooking, it's a great place to buy posh produce and a bottle of Pouilly Fume to go with the lobster or crab from down the road in Solva. Insider tip. Go early. Lunchtime gets crowded and although they work quickly it will be a bit of a wait if you're getting a packed lunch. This place is an absolute godsend if you like your food and wine. On entering the shop you are greeted with a huge superstore that is on two levels. The ground floor has all the normal food items, a large book section, as well as options and a pharmacy. Upstairs has a home and electronic section as well as the now well know Tesco clothing range. There is also a small cafe. To get upstairs you have to go on an escalator that is more like a graduated conveyor belt, this allows your trolleys and disabled access up to these floors. The shop is generally well stocked and the staff are happy to help with queries. However I would avoid going on a Friday night as it gets very busy and the ques are long.

There's so much choice that you can spend ages just browsing round. We also buy a lot of things we can't get locally in our town, and we usually buy some of the lovely fresh snacks to have a picnic by the estuary. In addition to all the food and wine, they sell gifts including local crafts too (I bought some attractive wooden jewellery once) and there's a little cafe as well selling great coffees. It would take me all day to write about everything you can see in this shop so you'll just have to look at the website for the rest! Friendly staff too, always ready for a chat or to help you find what you're looking for. Great for everyone but also vegans, vegetarians and those on gluten-free (and other) diets.
