There are affordable tickets, ample well lit parking in front of the building, and a variety of performances during the year to satisfy all tastes. You can become a Patron of the Arts and all donations are tax deductible. There are 2 stages and a gallery. Main Stage theater is the largest, while the Black Box is a very intimate setting, and you can peruse Bosque Gallery showcasing students art. The worst and most costly mistake I have ever made. I am a single mother who decided to further my education by attending LSC. Financial aid covered my courses, and I worked hard to make the Dean's list each semester. LSC screwed up and accidentally dropped me from a class. I tried numerous times to get the issue resolved so my financial aid would not be affected, and continued to attend the class every day. My advisor was never available, and by the time I was added back to the class, it was the end of the semester. Due to their screw up, I did not meet the attendance requirement to claim my financial aid, and the funds were retracted. Now LSC is charging me, even though I had nearly 10k of grants to cover my tuition. Now I am unable to continue my education. I have called the billing office numerous times and they hang up on me. LSC, thank you for ruining my life and my children's future. Reader, Please save yourself the trouble. read more

Some of the staff is helpful, that is the only reason this place is not getting one star. Overall, I have had two horrible experiences with this place, one with an incompetent teacher, another with registration. A while ago I took a required accounting class and the teacher Lisha Taylor had no idea what she was doing. She gave these added written book assignments that took a huge portion of your grade. They made no sense and she would not respond to any emails I sent requesting help. In the end she failed me despite me doing all the other assignments and quizzes well, when I emailed her demanding help she finally responded and had the audacity to claim that she had been helpful towards a different student and that I therefore had 'no excuse'. When I reported this and challenged my grade to the college they essentially told me to go f myself, and I had to retake the class completely. Despite this awful situation, since there is no other community college in this area, I decided to give them another chance and attempted to register for this summer. After reapplying and getting acceptance, their website will not let me select and register for class. I called their technical service and they confirmed I have no holds and also had no idea why it wouldn't let me register. I called their advising office after being redirected and had no luck as they closed their office. Now I will likely not be able to register for these classes. I have tried multiple computers, and browsers. Therefore I know its their website that is causing this. Overall do not enroll in this college unless you absolutely have to. read more

This is a waste of time if you plan on doing work. I've been coming here for 3 weeks and every single day the internet has been horrible! On and off, on and off! Beautiful campus. The library is calm and clean. The CENT area is pretty chill however...this College made me repeat a year because they placed an advisor who didn't explain the class credit system. It was on my third year that my advisor explained the credit system. They could have explained what classes I should take more efficiently. Then, to get accommodations was a hassle. I had the proper papers but they were reluctant to take it. I had to be persistent for my accommodations to be handed to me. The accommodations weren't helpful in this college. I had to do everything myself without any assistance that I needed. Last but not least, the Fines Arts of this college displays instances of favoritism and only posses concern for themselves and not the students. This goes to some other professors here. One of them left the class to eat lunch and didn't tell us, leaving us wasting our time in the class for nothing. This shows me that the professors are not penalized when they do something such as favoritism or neglecting the classroom to have lunch. I am thrilled to finally leave this college and transfer.I hope that they do better in the future... read more

Can't ever get a hold of anyone especially in financial aid. Even through email I was told "This email will not be responded to." You aren't able to get your off campus book financial aid if you took summer classes even though most professors don't go through the Lonestar book store. read more

*Admissions/registration process is quite simple compared to other community colleges (UHD/HCC/SanJac) which ask for a little more paperwork. I'm saying this because I tried enrolling there and it was a little frustrating. *Staff -Professors here are truly amazing. They are conversational, give you their advice, not the typical classroom feel. Good communication overall. However, I do encourage taking a view at reviews prior to enrolling. Some have different teaching styles, so it's up to who suits you best. -Staff at ADMISSIONS and records have disappointed me throughout the past semesters. Mostly about obtaining records: They're dry, not all that courteous, just like "next in line" you tell them what's going on, and they try to get you going quick. Wish they were more helpful and willing to do more. *Classes Tues-Thurs combinations, MWF, Saturday classes, mini-mesters, and summer classes. I've taken advantage of all so far which has helped me catch up. *Campus Lovely and modern campus. I was amazed the first time I went to visit. For a community college, way better than any other institution. Nature surroundings, ducks, birds, etc. My favorite buildings are definitely CASA and CENT. *Food Again, it's a community college. Although I have to state there's Chipotle, Jack in The Box, Starbucks, Whataburger, and Sonic right across campus. Within a 3 minute distance a McDonalds, ChickFil-A, Mod Pizza. We're next to TownLake so options are many. Inside campus, not a lot tbh. We had two Starbucks but became replaced by Minuti coffee. Cafeteria food is overpriced, so I recommend driving close by. Overall, I have no major complaints about this institution. This is a school I'd recommend to anyone who is looking to complete their basics/core curriculum for transfer credit or wish to return to school after a while. Had amazing 1.5 years here. read more

This campus is more beautiful than any 4 year university in Houston, Believe me. The veterans advisors are outstanding, I drive all the way from Spring to use their services. They really helped me out a ton! For psychology take Cindi Sledge: blazing red chili pepper! She's passionate about psych and you will learn a ton! For accounting take Jerre Schoffstall: also blazing red chili pepper! She really cares about her students, and has a passion for Acct. I learned more from her financial accounting class than my current managerial accounting class I'm taking at North Harris. I live in Spring so driving over there was to much for me. A beautiful lake on the campus! FYI: you can't fish on campus. Trust me, I tried. Excellent library, I wouldn't say much about their tutoring services though. North Harris has a better tutoring center than Cy-Fair. read more

The classes themselves were good but the admin staff at the Cypress location was terrible. My employer was paying for everything but the Business Office decided that I needed to pay something too. They said my employer's contract said I have to pay a portion. After talking until I was blue in the face about how that's not true I just broke down and paid some money. I was new to this process so I thought maybe I was wrong. Now that I am at a legit University with admin who know what they are doing, guess how much I pay? Nothing (Gee, funny how that works). I hear stories like this from other people too. Their Business Office is garbage, and rude to boot. Save your money find a better school that wants to earn your money and willing to make life easier because school is stressful enough. I have wasted four years of my life at this school. Every year it is the same problem. I try to sign up for classes and when I call the school I am sitting their for an hour until they decided to transfer me to another department and I have to wait again. This year was no different I emailed the school to find out what forums I needed. I sent them in and they told me I needed additional paperwork that they did not mention in the first email. Another problem was one of my advisors told me I specifically had to take two years of English classes when I already speak English. I later found out I could have spent those two years learning a foreign language, that I enjoyed so much more,than study English classes I had literally taken In high school. Cy-Fair College has something to offer everyone is my family. I've been looking over the course catalog since they opened and have toyed with the idea of taking some classes there in my spare time. It is a really nice facility with state of the art classrooms. A friend of mine was a professor here and said it really was one of the better small campuses in Houston. The library is really amazing. If I am looking for anything in the Harris County Library system, it is likely to be here. They have really great programs for everyone and the library goes out of its way to accommodate children and speak to an upcoming generation of readers with their programs and activities. In the fall, Cy Fair College holds the Cy Fest. It is free to the public and is a great way to get out and enjoy the cooler autumn air. They have duck races for charity, a petting zoo, demonstrations and performances all to benefit the community in which Cy Fair College is nestled. This is a great campus and would be the perfect school for anyone just starting out or returning to college. read more

The workers are so terrible, they sound so sad and unmotivated to work there. I went to see if my FASFA went through and asked so yes or no questions, the girl got mad at me and told me to go to Fairbanks instead. I went to Fairbanks and the advisors told me Cy Fair people are rude and doesn't care about their jobs... Also called Michael Young to ask a couple of questions about a class... he refused to answer. I dropped 3 phone calls in three days, sent two emails and he didn't bother to respond then AFTER I email and called his boss, he called back and gave me an attitude and yelled at me.... terrible, horrible service. read more

Sent my transcripts twice and no one uploaded them to my account so now I am not able to register. They told me to see an advisor with an unofficial transcript and that would allow me to register. NOPE. The advisor told me she had NO idea if my 4 year computer programming degree met any of Lone Star's pre-reqs so she could NOT help me register either. Instead, She said she had to email and get the department head to approve me and they would register me. What kind of advisor can't look at your transcripts and know if you are eligible for a class? She couldn't even tell me the difference between 2 of the degree programs. What kind of school needs department heads to register students because the advisors don't know anything? The online system errors and crashes constantly. Not even sure you can do online classes with this system now. Trying to call puts you in a automated loop forever just trying to get to a person. I regret going to this nursing school. I was accepted to go to other schools but I choose this one because it was closer but that was a big mistake. This program shows favoritism and if a professor does not like you they will fail you. They are a joke. MOST of the administration up there can't be bothered with you, so if you have any issues, don't waste your breath. They are cheap for a reason: no one goes there because they couldn't care less as to whether you go to their college or not. They are awful and I'm very thankful I already received my degree and have a clue of how to do things and how things are suppose to go, otherwise if this was my first time I would probably be in tears after all of the hoops, rude people and bs they've been running me through. I would probably be discouraged to ever try again. They are saying they are going to cancel my classes because they wouldn't take my 1st aid, so I redid it and they stuck it in the wrong place so I had to call and MAKE them find it, now, because they are taking their sweet time processing it (2 weeks if not more), they are going to cancel my classes. I am so disappointed in Lone Star College. My daughter does not even want to continue college. All the professors do is say well you need to drop the class your failing and the semester is only halfway over instead of helping them with what they are doing wrong. They are just taking your money instead of being a stepping stone to a University. I will not pay any more money to this college we will transfer to another. The library is very clean and the study areas are overall quiet. It is nice to reserve the rooms and have our own place to study as well.

Please keep in mind the context of this review is during COVID. Took four months for them to register me for the teachers alternative certification course here which already was a bad experience. I transferred to texasteachersoftomorrow.... since it was a better teaching program than what this place offered. Unethical business practices. I bought a book, left and came back later during the day to do price-match. They scan the book and decided they gave me the wrong version so without consulting me, and without my permission... they stole the book back and decide to just give me the refund for what I paid. Because the book they gave me was more expensive than what they had actually rang me up for. If that's not unethical, then I don't know what is. They pretty mluch just took the book from my hands, then brought a manger to tell me they gave me the wrong book. I can see why online textbook purchasing is more ideal. One doesn't have to interact with businesses which make constant mistakes and wrongs their customer. I had told her I bought the book- I am keeping it. (Its not my fault they made a mistake on their end during checkout) And she said she needed to talk to someone in the back, took the book and returned with the manager who told me they will just give me my money back and keep the bought I bought earlier that morning. It was not a happy transaction, and I highly suggest for other students to look at other options before purchasing from businesses which practice unethically. read more

I've been trying to finish up trying to get my associates degree to transferring over to UH to now earn my bachelors degree in arts. One of the advisors, who was or is the business advisor had asked why I was assigned to this particular advisor. Honestly, I couldn't even remember as to why, but I was even given a business card just to take a mandatory HOLD off to schedule for next semester classes. I've called this advisor a few times just to completely confirm my progress. First off, after hearing her voice, this person sounded very pale. Anytime I had interrupted, or had explained her responses would be "ok". The many times she's said "ok", it completely got on my nerves. She even question why I'm enrolled into this class, why am I her advisor to begin with and she had sounded so blunt during the process. Don't know if I should stick with this one advisor I was given, but apparently I know not to waste my time with this one. read more

Ive been attending this campus for a few semesters. Before a certain incident, I'd have given this school a solid 4.5/5 rating. However, they dropped me from a certain class without even notifying me! I received NO email or phone correspondence, all I get is a voicemail on a home phone that rarely ever gets used. Their reason is that I was dropped for Non payment! How can that be if I enrolled in a payment plan and paid in full with a credit card? Why aren't my other classes affected then? The administrative staff seem to be non communicative and don't appear to care about making mistakes like this. I have never encountered this before. Especially not with the old management when the previous chancellor was in charge. I plan on disputing this with Lone Star and will keep this review updated. read more

Large beautiful and great campus. Always clean and nice. I love how they have free tutoring for students, thats awesome. They have a convenient schedule for all classes and all staff has always been helpful as are teachers. Parking is ok, sometimes it's difficult but for the most part it's not that crazy. This college is considered one the best community colleges in Houston I've been here for over 2 years earning my basic credits for my Environmental Science Degree and its been a great value and learning experience. Couple hundred dollars for a class can't be missed in Lone Star and some teachers are just as good as those big colleges. The library is super quiet far from the computers and has thousands of different books you can check out. Lonestar Cyfair is a very beautiful campus as it is displayed as a It serves as a example for how you can incorporate a college in a sustainable ecosystem But be warned there are cons, Some professors are very difficult to understand and make it hard to learn, but it happens sometimes and you will learn to be more careful what professor you pick next time. Parking is terrible on the front side (library side) and needs to be expanded because of the new three story CASA building which has much more classes than the other side (Science and Health side) Those are just minor concerns that I found being here for two years, This is really the best when it comes to general classes and Associate degrees! read more

Great community college this place has always been growing. Technologywise they are up to speed in the classrooms. They need to have permanent staff. Sadly all their professors are adjunct. Only bad thing I would say is if you need a math tutor good luck. They are always busy. I've never had a tutor who can help they always end up helping others. This college is by far the worst thing you can possibly do to yourself. Advisors do not know what they are talking about, all of them tell you something completely different. Professors do not care about you at all and do not even try to act like they care, they will not help you and make you feel like you are dirt under their shoe. Even the deans leak confidential information and do not help you with any of your problems. Lone Star 100 percent sets you up to fail. I have had absolutely nothing but negative experiences and interactions. The whole institution is an absolute joke. All you are is a check to them and it shows very clearly. The office employees are rude for no reason and nobody in any department is helpful at all. They make every task 100 times harder than it needs to be. I have failed classes I should have never failed and I cannot wait until the semester is over so I never have to return. Do yourself a favor and pick literally any other option you can to avoid this community college. I wish I could give it 0 stars but that is not an option. However, the admins & desk help is pretty useless & I never even bother trying to get help from them because they're either away from the desk, rude, or confused. The admissions office employees are extremely rude. I went to enroll for summer classes and to try and avoid long lines I was there when they opened and anytime I asked any questions either the lady helping me was rude to me or the others would interrupt me and her and be rude to me, which shocked me considering how nice the advisors were, so before leaving I asked the admissions lady if I'm enrolled and good to go and she says yes and tells me I can leave. About two hours later I still can't see the classes on my account so I call and turns out she didn't enroll me so I go back and wait 30 minutes in line and am helped by a different employee than the one who helped me earlier and she continued to snap at me about my transcripts only to tell me that she made a mistake and that she can enroll me so after me enduring her attitude I still say thank you and she says "mhm" like seriously? I work in customer service and I'm never rude to people especially if they're being nothing but nice if you don't like your job quit don't be rude to people because you're unhappy. read more

Walk in at 10:05 am and their Ac is off. As if Lone Star doesn't already charge enough money. I hate this school with a burning passion. I have been mistreated by professors and the staff multiple times. All this school cares about is your money. International students obviously make them more money so it's obvious that's where their focus is. This school is complete trash. I have come twice over the past six months, the second time today, to get a simple paper work issue settled. The first time I came, their system was down, they handed me a sheet, I filled it out, and gave it to them, never heard back. Emailed back and forth for months, continuously being told I had to be there in person to get assistance ( mind you this was simply because I had a name change and the documents were available, in another name) so I drove all the way out again today, because I moved down town and lived there. I was attempting to take online classes. I go back, and they hand me the same god damn sheet I filled out months ago. I tell her I already filled it out and she tries to tell me I'm in the wrong line ( advising) and I need to be in the documents line. I tell her no, the documents are available, I need advising to override the pre reqs. For these documents. She continues to argue with me and gives me a buzzer. The room was crowded and loud so I left, because I had already contacted them via email, again, earlier on in the day and explained the situation. I see the email later on, which tells me I MUST SEE AN ADVISOR IN PERSON. SO CLEARLY, THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING IF THEY WANT TO GIVE A STUDENT THE RUN AROUND FOR SIX MONTHS OVER SOME GOD DAMN SAT SCORES. I'll pay, AGAIN, to have them sent somewhere else.
