She creates an environment that is unseen in the Cinco and Katy preschool / Montessori school circuit. These decisions of where to put your child to give them the best opportunity in Katy ISD are daunting. But now I don't have a single worry when I drop my son off. I know that every day he walks through those doors and every afternoon that I pick him up he will have grown and felt cared for and loved. As a parent it's the only hope we can have. ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE OF A SCHOOL!!!! My toddler was enrolled…read morehere for THIRTY days! I should have read the poor reviews before considering this school. From the very beginning it was chaotic. At orientation the principal announces that the pre-k teacher was no longer employed, and they were putting in two interim teachers who had been with the school for years. School started the following week so of course by this time it's too late to find your child a different placement. First week of school both interim teachers quit in the middle of the week, which led to two pre-k classes being combined and being taught by the teacher's aide. They then hired an uncertified "pre-k teacher" with only a high school diploma. Of course I wanted to meet her so I walk my child into the classroom and the new teacher just stands there, not even attempting to greet me or my child. After standing there for several minutes I decided to go ahead and introduce myself and my child. Second week of school I notice my child's lunch keeps coming home untouched, which was odd because I packed all his favorite foods. I then realized the school was not assisting him in opening the containers, so he was going from 7:45am-5:45pm with no food just a snack. When I brought this to the staff's attention, they denied not opening the containers, however, after that conversation I noticed his containers would come back with the food eaten. The following week I noticed when he would have toileting accidents, he would come home in someone else's pull-up even though I would pack additional underwear and pull-ups in his backpack. One day I picked him up from school and he reeked of urine. When I changed his clothes, I noticed he had on a dry pull-up, was put back in the urinated pants, but his change of clothes was still in his backpack. On his fourth week, the school had the audacity to call CPS on my family with claims of physical abuse. On this day I went to the school to pick up my child and was approached by a CPS investigator. Two nights prior my toddler decides to climb into my infant's activity chair and gets his legs stuck inside causing a bruise on his legs. Thank goodness I have cameras throughout my home and was able to share the video footage of the incident from start to finish with the investigator where it shows how it took me five minutes to pry him out of the chair, and me putting ice packs on his legs to try and reduce the swelling and bruising. The investigators statement was "this was just a boy being a boy," (my exact thoughts). However, the thought of what could have happened had I not had that footage is devastating. Not to mention both my fiancé and I hold professional state licenses working with children. The issues this could have caused us professionally had we not had video proof is insurmountable. To add more to the embarrassment and humiliation the investigator had to do her due diligence of contacting my nanny and other friends of the family for statements. If you are a parent looking for a nurturing, positive learning environment where your child will flourish and has a low staff turnover, I recommend finding a school with trained, certified, and professional staff.

I truly am hoping this is just something that happened to us, but either way, I think it is important for me to honestly share my experience. I enrolled my daughter in Mathnasium in June because my daughter was struggling in math in 4th grade spring semester and I wanted to get her help. They shared that she wasn't too far behind and stated that they could help. They mentioned that there were 10 areas they would focus on first. My daughter attended at least 37 sessions from my records. In November and December she did not attend a few weeks because we were traveling for the holidays but the months before then she attended twice per week fairly regularly. For some reason I had not received any updates as stated in the very beginning; in fact, I received ZERO progress reports. I stopped in to inquire and the staff was confused on why I had not receive one progress report. They tell me that they will have an update when I pick my daughter up. When I return the director sits and tells me that the reason my daughter never received any progress reports after several months...ZERO, is because she made ZERO, NO progress. Then she proceeds to blame us, saying we attended irregularly. Ma'am, we still attended over 30 sessions for over 6 months. Then she goes on to blame my daughter saying she works too slow when she was not too far away. Here is my issue, why on earth was I never contacted and informed that this was not working. They sat there and collected almost $2000 from me and said nothing. She then stated that she would refund me for the last month. Ma'am you all should be giving me a full refund at this point. Your guaranteed results didn't happen. I cried for several days after this because it made me feel really sad and hopeless regarding my daughter's learning. Despite their blame game, the blame for us wasting our time is fully on them. They are a franchise, so unfortunately there is no corporate office I could reach easily. I will keep trying to give feedback to someone higher up and will likely file other complaints. Look, it's not about the money, it's about the accountability. I hope this never happens to another kid or family.

We enrolled our son in the spring semester of 4th grade. He was struggling with math and we knew that he needed extra help. Our son kept falling further and further behind in math. It was heartbreaking. We found Mathnasium and we feel so lucky to live down the road from the Barker Cypress location. We met with Cathy and her team got our son on the right track very quickly. He finished 4th grade math with higher grades and a new found confidence! Our son fell in love with math! He continued going to Mathnasium through junior high. He loved his teachers and always looked forward to meeting with them. The team at Mathnasium also tutored him, as needed, when my son took Algebra II and Pre-Calculus. He also met with Mathnasium to prep for the SAT and they were a huge help! My son is about to graduate from high school and has only the best things to say about his time with the Mathnasium team. And math continues to be his favorite subject! We will always be grateful for the team at Mathnasium.

Childcare academies we have been to before also had curriculums but little evidence of implementation. Wednesday's are music days and my son loves Mr. D, who comes to sing along nursery rhymes with the children and introduce them to music. Cleanliness and sanitation is a high priority for me and I am so happy to say that the school and the classrooms always look presentable. My LO has started taking a lot of interest in scientific experiments as well thanks to their recent science fair and the regular scientific experiments performed in classrooms with the children. I never thought my 3 year old would be interested in knowing magnets work, but his curiosity has now sparked, thanks to the Goddard Westridge Creek team.As a working mom I live for the updates on the Tadpoles app. The teachers are considerate enough to send ample pictures and videos throughout the day so the parents can get snippets into what their little ones are up to. At pick up and drop off the teachers are always available to speak to the parents and address any concerns. Overall, I am very happy with this school and yes there is a reason they call it a school and not a daycare. It's kind of in a neighborhood so it's very quiet and I feel safe when I am leaving or going to class in the evening. The majority of the study body are adults who work full-time or a SAHM who are seeking to earn a degree from a creditable University. The prices for tuition is not as steep as UH main campus. I do wish the library was bigger and the campus stayed open later than 10 pm. It's pretty cool that on random nights they give free snacks/ pizza and drinks for the students. Although I have been an EMT for over 17 years, it's been a long time since I was in a classroom setting and appreciated how she tailored some aspects of the core curriculum to my needs. Her teaching style is clear, hands-on, and full of patience. She doesn't just teach the material she makes sure you understand it, feel confident in it, and knows how to apply it in the real world. And if you mess up, she's right there with encouragement and guidance, never judgment. If you engage in active listening, show up on time (every time) and practice safe lab procedures you will ace the class with no problem. Take it seriously, phlebotomy is the first line in medical care. I would highly recommend and may reach out in the future to see if there are any opportunities to work alongside her at the school in the future.
