UPK is now 5 days a week 5 hours a day and the kids are expected to learn how to read and write to some extent along with a lot of other requirements. So this program is the right balance of play to let kids be kids while preparing them for the social adjustment. It is a very reasonable priced and very caring school. My daughter is now going there, and my son being very young for the class was quite difficult to handle. However, the school took care of him and never complained. His teachers still see me around and ask how he is doing. Mrs Johansson (the head of the preschool) is great as well and knows every single child and parent in the school by name. They are very serious about the health of their students and faculty. My little one hates leaving for school. She would rather play with her dolls at home all day.
