Hush puppies are sometimes painfully dry & inedible but sometimes ok. Good root beer of course! And generally pretty decent pricing. Overall, weird to say it, but I'm glad it's here. Get ready to threepeat because this girl "hears" you, but will repeat back incorrectly, to GET you to repeat, only for the order to be wrong AND missing the side you asked for. A total mess. Worst experience ever. And it's not Jesus (per the torn receipt posted here) who made the multiple mistakes on 8/16/25, it was the girl working the 1430 shift. I ordered coleslaw and asked for green beans to replace the fries. I didn't get the green beans, and somehow I didn't get the coleslaw either. But there it is on the receipt, fries, that is confirmed twice I did not want. And we were NOT willing to U-turn. 2 shrimp were overcooked, heavily curled and rubbery. 1 shrimp was undercooked (batter was wet). The hush puppies were not properly prepped OR the heat was too high because the internals were gooey, not flaky. I get it. I now see why, as of today, there are only 485 of the original 1,500 left in the US. Real talk, even though I haven't been in over 12-years I've always liked the food LJS's. During my most recent trip here, when that drive thru window opened and a gust of beer battered air flooded my nostrils, I was placed right back in a a nautical themed booth snacking on hush puppies with my parents. Sadly the nautical decor is gone and it's just another modern cookie cutter fast food designer dining area. On a good note, the food still tasted the same! From the beer battered cod to the chicken, the cocktail sauce, and even the hush puppies, although quite smaller, taste the same. I know anything beer battered and fried will taste good, but I was hyped on the flavor consistency that came with every nostalgic bite. Not something you can eat very often as this food is heavy. I was definitely out of commission for the rest of the day. The service was fast and sort of friendly, but all-in-all it was fun trip down memory lane. read more

I placed an online order and supposed to be ready by 12:18. I arrived at 12:20 to pick it up but not ready. It was 12:30 when I received my order. Not much customer on this day and time of the day. 1) Grilled Salmon Bowl: Salmon served on bed of rice topped with shredded cabbage. The shredded cabbage is crisp and fresh. The salmon is good sized portion and flaky. The rice is dry and salty. 2) Fish n Chicken basket: The fish has a crispy, golden crust while keeping the fish tender inside. It is salty. The chicken is nicely done, it is slightly on the salty side. It comes with hush puppies that are perfectly done and individual serving of Cole Slaw that is on the warm side and did not taste freshly made. I have to try this place again and "re-taste" if it is their usual offering before I can recommend it. read more

With that said, I have yet to find any fault with their Clovis location. The counter help has never failed me, and it's always a pleasant place for a snack or meal. On Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, I stopped by my local LJS in the evening after literally years. The girl who helped me, "Brittney C", was *fantastic*. I was pretty tired after a long day and she was very friendly, courteous and professional. I appreciated that a lot. There was a short wait and during that time she made sure to chat and keep things moving. This is the kind of employee you want. Give her a raise! Holy crap have they gone down hill. Everything tasted like it was fried this morning then thrown in an oven in hopes to believe it was fresh. It was not. Asked for no tomato on a burger luckily first bite didn't hit the one tomato but the bread was super stale. And the tomato was there. 30 bucks for meals that weren't even good enough to feed to live stock. No straws for the sodas, and no napkins. The kicker, they took forever to make the food. So we thought at least it would be fresh. I think this place is just done. Obviously there is no quality control or time management. Sad too cause this use to be the place to go. One good thing. Some years ago, I had a fairly bad experience at this location, but my experience today was much much better. The young man, taking my order, spoke nice and clear and was very helpful with my order at the speaker. Once I arrived at the drive-through window, he verified my order, and then asked if I wanted any sauces, and what type. The attitude was polite. I received my food in a timely manner. The fish was great. The hush puppies and the fries were also very good. The food tasted hot, in fact, the temperature was very hot. I had to wait a little while to let it cool down. The fish is crunchy, flaky and tender on the inside (I rate 4-stars), the chicken tender fillet is very tasty, juicy tender on the inside and crunchy on the outside. (I rate 4-stars) Would have been perfect if not on the salty side. The hush puppies are perfect.(5stars) The Grilled Shrimp bowl comes with rice, shrimp and grated cabbage on top. I opted with no sauce. The 8 pieces of shrimps' are tender and juicy but on the salty side. The rice is a disaster. It wants to be like a rice pilaf?... but dry, hard and leaves a starchy after taste that lacks seasoning. It is on the salty side too. Maybe a simple steamed rice that's soft and tender instead would be worth the regular price of $13.00. What they served is not even worth ordering again for $5. After having not had Long John Silver's in a long time, I decided to give them a try again and fulfill my craving. Immediately when pulling into the parking lot, you could see this place was BUSY, and I almost wasn't able to find parking but did. The line inside was long but moved pretty fast. We placed our orders and sat down to hear our orders being called. While we waited, we filled our drinks and condiments, I like getting ketchup and malt vinegar for my fries and fish. The orders didn't take long to come out and came out HOT and fresh. The fish was nice and extra crispy while being juicy and tender inside. The shrimp was crunchy and flavorful, and the hush puppies were delicious like always. Long John Silver's is definitely better than the last time I've had them. Their portion size and quality have gone up significantly and leave me wanting more. Good food and portions. read more

I was excited to come to A&W and Long John's because I have not been in awhile and I loved their battered fish and battered chicken and root beer float. My husband got a papa burger combo, I got the sampler platter. We were the only 2 in the lobby. A customer was before us and got their food before we entered. We encountered a few issues during our visit, these are our issues- 1. The soda machine wasn't pouring out soda. Apparently, they never turned it on. 2. We payed $28 for our food, this is not cheap, but when my food came, it was missing my popcorn shrimp so I asked for it. The girl mumbled something and so I asked another guy, he said your order came with popcorn shrimp? I said yes, I got the platter, he said okay, we will bring it out to you. 3. When I saw they haven't dropped the popcorn shrimp in over 10 minutes, I asked again and even about the third or 4th time asking, the fry guy finally goes and gets the popcorn shrimp. 4. However, before he got the popcorn shrimp, he was sweeping. He did not wash his hands after sweeping. He just went straight to the walk in freezer and grabbed the popcorn shrimp and grabs it with his hand and throws it in the fryer. 5. With how long it took me to get my popcorn shrimp, this whole process took 5 people 23 minutes to get me my whole entire order. I felt completely dismissed by the workers on a very slow day. I wasn't asking for anything extra, just what I was supposed to get. Time: I didn't expect this to be super fast, but 23 minutes for my popcorn shrimp is not okay. Customer service- blah. I shouldn't have had to ask 3 or 4 times for something that was supposed to be on my platter. Food Safety- I've worked in fast food before and someone not washing their hands, especially touching a broom and then touching food with their bare hands is an automatic fail. I don't know if you use that same broom to sweep the living room and the bathrooms as well. Cross contamination is not okay, especially during Covid! The only reason for the 2 stars is that the food was piping hot. I took the popcorn shrimp anyway because I didn't want to wait another 20 minutes for it again. read more

Came here on 4/21/24. The customer service I received from the young lady in the drive thru window was just amazing. I understand what it's like working fast food and how overwhelming it can be but this worker really took the time out to ensure we got every single sauce, she double checked to make sure our large order was fully correct down to the substitutions and customizations. Went today for my fish fix. Got it home and was sorely disappointed. Fish was lukewarm and fries were limp and greasy. AND, they didn't include my coleslaw. 8 mile drive to go back for the coleslaw, Not!! I took the breading off and I could see the veins on both the popcorn shrimp and regular shrimp. Also they forgot the coleslaw.
