I've been a patient here for about 5 years and have always had a positive experience. The staff has been consistently professional and very polite. I recently went in for my annual skin exam, and received a very thorough examination from head to toe. I had six biopsy's sent out for further review, I called about 2 weeks later to get the results and the lady I spoke with said she would call me right back. I got a call from her 10 minutes later with my results. I was very pleased. I had some out of pocket expenses at my last visit, I thought the fees were reasonable. I waited for about 40 minutes at my last visit, but I normally schedule my appointments here when I have a day off so it's not really a problem. I would recommend them to anyone, and I do. read more

I have been a patient for close to ten years and appreciate the qualifications of the doctors there. However, there has never been a time when the doctor sees me at the appointment time. Frequently, the wait time can be more than an hour past the designated time. This week, I had an appointment for 10:45 on Monday. I scheduled a flight to leave down based on that appointment. I arrived 15 minutes early, and was told that the doctor was running behind by at least 45 minutes. I met with their office manager and explained that I had a flight to catch, and that the flight was purposefully chosen around my this total body scan, and that I had some areas of concern. I also explained that I was leaving town for 6 months, that finding a dermatologist in a new state was virtually impossible, and that I had two prior instances of skin cancer. The office manager was totally unsympathetic and said "I won't ask the other two patients waiting to allow you to get in front of them". I received a call from the doctor later that day. Rather than apologize, he said " I understand you got squeezed between my running behind and some fixed appointments" This was totally unacceptable and they have lost a patient. When an office runs late with their appointments virtually all of the time, they are demonstrating their indifference to the schedule of their patients. Our time is valuable too. Their policy is to charge a patient who misses an appointment. I am extremely disappointed in their professionalism. read more

My husband & I have been patients of Dr. Fortier for many years. Monday, October 25th, 2022, we had a 10:30 and 10:45 appointment. We gave the receptionist our name and sat in the waiting room. After 40 minutes, the receptionist asks us our name again. I stood in front of her for 10 minutes and waited for her to get off her personal phone call. Laughing and ignoring me. When I asked why all the people in the room were taken in to see the doctor and complained we were the only two people sitting there, her answer was talk to the doctor. We still sat and waited, but now it's over an hour so we decided to leave. I believe Dr. Fortier is not concerned for her patients only the fees she collects from them. I would suggest she takes a good look at the people at the front desk or she will lose many other patients. As of today, we have not heard from the Dr. It would have been nice to get an apology after all the years we were her patients. My appointment time was 10:45am. I arrived at 10:43am. I was told I needed to wait 15-20 minutes in order to see the doctor (despite having a confirmed appointment booked far in advance). In reality, it turned out I actually had to wait 50 minutes, yes despite having a confirmed appointment booked far in advance. Aside from the unacceptable excessive wait time, everything else was fortunately mediocre. The front desk was generally indignant. They were neither polite, nor friendly, nor efficient. The facilities were sufficiently clean and brightly lit. No issue here. The doctors were great. Without the wait time issue, this place might have earned a solid 3 or 4 stars in my book. read more

While the wait times can be quite long, it is well worth it. Dr. Fortier literally saved my life by detecting melanoma a few years ago. I'd rather have to wait and have a thorough exam by my doctor than have her rush me along. And Dr. Forteir is absolutely the best. She is kind, caring, and an excellent dermatologist. Knowing the wait time, I schedule my appointment with that in mind and bring a good book to read. A tip: if you want to be seen straight away, try to get the first morning appointment, usually at 7:30 am. read more

I had a major flare up on my face. I wasn't sure what it was. It was swollen, bright red and there were tiny pustules everywhere. I had started having some issues with my face in December but it kept getting progressively worse. I started to worry because it was so sudden. I wasn't sure if it was hormonal, bacterial, or both. I wasn't sure if I had any issues going on systemically. I googled and saw long ridge derm. I had sent them an email Sunday night explaining what was going on. I saw the negative reviews but I was so desperate and thought if I called and they could get me in I'm going. The office manager Donald emailed me back on Monday morning stating that the office was open and to call. I called. Receptionist answers, I start saying "good morning I had sent an email regarding an issue I am having with my face and I really need an appt I did receive an email back from donald"----she cuts me off and says "what do you mean you sent an email" I was baffled. Thought my explanation was clear and why is she cutting me off anyway? Unprofessional (first red flag). She finally understood and ask me what insurance I have. I said I have husky (it's the state insurance in CT which I am on because I am a widowed mom). She says and I quote "oh that's going to be a problem because there's only a PA who takes that insurance and he's only here Tuesdays and Thursdays and he is booking out three months". WHAT?!?! "Oh that's going to be a problem" unprofessional and rude (second red flag). I said "can I pay out of pocket I really need to be seen". She said "hold on". Donald picks up. I explain everything again and she must have told him about the insurance. So he says to me in a very demeaning way "well the office visit can be anywhere from 200 to 250" ugh I wish I could voice record the way he said it because that's where the third red flag is. It just sounded as if I was being immediately judged because I was on the state insurance. Magically one of the docs had an opening. He gave me the time and I said "I can probably make that work". I guess I was thinking out loud because I was three hours away when I called the office. He says "well can you make it or not". Again I wish I could let you all hear the tone. I said to him "Donald just because I'm on husky doesn't mean I'm not going to show up to my appointment. I understand the demographics and I've worked in the medical field....." and I started explaining why I was on that insurance which is something nobody should ever be made to feel they have to do!!!!!!!! Fourth red flag!!!!!! I was desperate so I took the appt. get there and they take the 200 right away. Front desk just unprofessional. They look miserable. Get in the back and the assistants/nurses (not sure their correct titles) were very nice. Doctor Jacobson comes in the back and was also nice but seemed as if he was in a hurry. Surely they office sets enough time aside for a new patient?! I explained why I was extremely on edge and hyperactive. He looked at my face with his loops on and said it looked infected and he believes it's a type of rosacea. Said I should be on an antibiotic. I asked well what if there's anything going on systemically and wondered if we should do blood work as I had explained some of my medical history to him (not because he asked FYI) and told him this was sudden. He ordered labs because I asked!!!! WTF. What number red flag am I on?? He did order good labs though. I was surprised he ordered the ANA because Lupus was on my radar too (again I was worried and trying to be my own advocate. Doctors hate this, well most docs). No rec for skin care. No rec for sun screen. Didn't tell me what I should or shouldn't be putting on my face. I mean 200.00 for a visit. Come on!!!!! Phlebotomist/nurse (again unsure of their titles) came in and drew the labs (she was very nice) and that was that. I did inform the doctor that Donald and the front desk were extremely off putting. Overall I would not recommend this practice. The negative reviews are spot on with this one. Suggestions DONALD. Treat every patient as a cash patient until they give you reason not to. If they are continuous no shows, if they trash the office, if they are rude and disrespectful to the staff, if they are obnoxious. You get the point right? You set the tone being an office manager. Do not assume anything. Do not assume a person will not show up to an appointment based on history with husky patients. Do not assume they cannot pay for an appointment!!! Again treat every patient as a cash patient!!!! Front desk Don't cut people off on the phone and never ever say "oh that's going to be a problem". I don't understand how people can call this practice racist . This is one of two dermatologist who accept husky in the radius . When I come here the wait is long but it's due to all the patients that they have to see . Because they are trying to accomadate everyone I see Mr Lopez and he is AMAZING . I love him and his energy I don't mind waiting to see a good DR . They are trying the best they can ! I love the PA here and the doctors. They are great ONCE you see them, but the people working the front desk are just so rude. While, I love Dr. Fortier, I switched doctors based purely on the wait time. Each visit you are guaranteed AT LEAST A 1 1/2 hour wait. I see Dr. Fortier here and she is so friendly and knowledgeable! I've been coming to her for years. When I started coming here it was for acne, and now I'm acne-free and I come to her for skin check-ups and such. She really knows what she's talking about, and she is so sweet and approachable. That's what I love about coming here. This place is small enough that the doctor's know you by name, and large enough to offer many types of services, from hair removal to chemical peels to acne prescriptions. read more

I love the locality of this office, only 3 miles from my house. Unfortunately, my recent appointment will most likely be my last one. I paid for a package of 3 laser treatments. This is a treatment you cannot have done during the summer when you have a tan so it's been about 6 months since my last visit. When I set up the appointment I spent 5 min. on the telephone verifying that they had record that I paid for all three treatments and was making an appointment for the final treatment. Great experience on the phone until I arrived for my appointment yesterday. When I got there, they took me into the laser hair removal room. I told the technician that I was there for a rosacea treatment. I was then told that I need to see a doctor first (surprise, surprise) and when they checked if a doctor was available, I was told she was already 2 hours behind and couldn't see me. After 20 min. of clearing up the treatment misunderstanding regarding the type of treatment and being told of a new requirement to see a doctor, I was then dismissed from the facility without treatment and told that I need to make another appointment which includes seeing the dermatologist. Regardless of the convenience of this office, I am taking my business somewhere else. We all work or are busy raising families or going to school. I think a waste of an hour of anyone's time should be carefully considered when turning down a patient for service. I mean really, you couldn't fit in a quick look at very obvious looking rosacea. What has changed in 6 months, was I miraculously cured? Good thing; I asked for a refund for the amount of the last laser treatment, and I have to say there were no questions asked. read more

A wonderful practice group. The desk staff is friendly, curious, and professional. The nursing staff clearly know their business and put you at ease. Michael Jacobson, M.D. is as good as it gets. Extremely knowledgeable and astonishingly professional yet warm and kind. He takes the time to listen and explains in clear language the issues at hand and the plan to deal with them. As a person with a serious issue going to the Doctor can be a scary thing. I truly believe Dr. Jacobson saved my life. I could not recommend him more highly. He is the best. read more

I saw Dr Savit, 2 weeks ago for some Botox in my forehead showed him exactly where I wanted it. He gave me 4 tiny little injections and I paid $375. 2 weeks later nothing happened and my forehead looked the same as when I walk in 2 weeks ago. So I went back today to have him do what I dished out $375 for. Dr Savit tried to convince me that it worked . Ha as if I didn't Know how botox works.when I told him and showed him clearly nothing worked he said he tries to save people money and doesn't give that much botox. ( Really ) I didn't go to him for him to save me money I went to get botox in my forehead. He said that if he was going to put more I would have pay more . The only reason I gave it one star is because you have to put something. I have never been treated so rudely as I was treated at this office. I was there for laser hair removal. They never had the laser ready. I would have to wait for 30 min. just for them to be able to use the laser. By the 4th time this happened, the women who was doing the treatments (who agreed that it was ridiculous that I had to wait so long every time), asked if i would like to make a complaint to the manager. I replied yes. I was never rude nor did I ever raise my voice. At this point, the manager came in and all but kicked me out of the office. I never even had a chance to state my complaint. I was horrified! It was like a Twilight Zone episode. I was so confused. It is 5 minutes from my house. I tell everyone I know not to go there. As human beings, we deserve to be treated better. In 8/10 an exam by a local dermatologist not taking Medicare found nothing warranting biopsies. Cost $250. Switched to Dr. Savitz of Long Ridge Dermatology for a semiannual skin exam in 3/11, because he took Medicare. The good doctor came up with the need for 6 biopsies subsequently processed in house. Surprise! three of the biopsies indicated the need for further treatment. Total exam and biopsy bill of $3205 picked up by Medicare. As test, went back to the local dermatologist not taking Medicare for a skin exam in May 2011. Doctor found nothing warranting biopsies. Cost $250. Wonder why Medicare needs a serious overhaul?! read more

I will not go back there - It was as if they were just trying to get rid of me.. I have a history of Melanoma in my family and the Dr. looked at my scalp, arms, legs and feet. Any doctor should know that moles grow on your eyeballs, in your mouth and in your private areas. She didn't even bother to look - i was out of there in 5 minutes and feel like i need to go see a doctor that treats me like a patient not an animal. I do not recommend this place. read more

After sitting in the waiting room for 45 minutes, we were told that the dermatologist was running 1 1/2 hours behind. I have been a patient of Dr. Fortier for 15 years and I must say I look younger (and healthier) than ever. She found skin cancer on the back of my ear!! That is a thorough examination. She has given me products that truly rejuvenated my skin --thin Irish with much sun damage, but more important she has listened to my questions and concerns and answered, always professional with her own kindness and warmth thrown in.
