Charge forward, the marvellous Bull Inn, the shining light of the Paisley bar scene which has been keeping Buddies happy since 1901, making it officially the oldest pub in the town. The Bull is as handsome a bar as you will find in the west of Scotland and its traditional fittings and homely atmosphere are almost worth the jaunt to Paisley alone. If you do manage to bag one of its four snugs (unlikely during lunch times and big match days) then make sure you cancel any prior arrangements. This particular bar is situated within two minutes walk of Paisley Canal Station and has gained a reputation for being one of the best pubs in the city. As a bit of a traditionalist, I'm not quite sure I would go that far. The place is fine, certainly, but lacks the character of many of the town's older bars. Mind you, given some of these can be a tad on the rough side, you can at least be guaranteed the Craig Dhu is a safe option in every sense of the word.

Good selection of malts behind the bar, and the measures are bigger than the miserable sizes in Madchester. The pool table is brand new, though the locals are total sharks at pool and know their game. Highly recommend a visit.

The pub does not have a lot of student patrons due to its "old man" pub reputation. BTW - the map is messed up for this pub. It is west of the centre of Paisley on the High St (not in Johnstone) near the Paisley Library and Museum.
