I can't recommend Lorenza enough. The servers and hosts are super nice and welcoming, and have super good recommendations. The ambiance and decorations are beautiful, very eclectic with bright colors but a nice classy vibe. I got the Lorenza Gin drink, which was perfectly balanced, as well as the Amigos tacos and habanero sea bass (not sure of the exact name). It was SO good. The tacos have a beautiful balance of texture and flavor. The sea bass was perfectly cooked and the habanero complimented the fish very well. Lastly, we got the Crème Brûlée which was made at our table and it was the best Creme Brûlée I have ever had. We paired it with an Affogato, also made beautifully at the table, which had beautiful smoky flavors. I love this restaurant and will 1000% be coming back. read more

Not for me as I was pregnant but large portions and super beautiful. I got the fish tacos since that is the signature dish of TJ per my colleagues and I was not impressed. Sure they were good but if you look at the picture, you can see they are quite boring looking. Another person got the steak tacos and those looked way better. I also asked for beans but I believe lost in translation I got the smallest cast iron dish of refried beans and what I think was hallumi cheese. Still very good. The team members that got the steak and trout were quite pleased with their meals. And those churros...a must! The dolce de leche and chocolate were so decadent plus the presentation is so cute. The service was super accommodating considering our group spoke very little Spanish and for some English is their second language, so I would say the server was very patient with us. I came here with my wife around 5:30pm. We were browsing through the menu. I noticed there were a lot of fish on the menu, like there were 2 picture of a dish, and one of them was grilled fish. Half the menu was various seafood. So I was like, maybe this place, their strength is the fish menu. So I ordered the fish entree on the picture. The waiter takes down the order and takes off, comes back and tells us that they are out of fish. Not just that menu, but like all of them. No fish is in the restaurant tonight. Waiter leaves and me and my wife, we are giggling. Like I felt like I went to a seafood restaurant and was told no fish tonight, sir! Is this a sitcom comedy and was that just a punch line we experienced? Cuz it was a good one. Anyway, we tried the short ribs and rib eye chicharon. I gotta say, rib eye, too sour. But this is a restaurant in Mexico, and I remember my wife's mom once put lemon juice in a miso soup. Sour is the norm, I get it. So I know I am the weird one here. Sour is good, it's not them, it's me. Short ribs. It's been cooked 24 hour? How can you tell? That's what I want to know. But either way, it was delicious. I was very surprised that I found this restaurant in TJ. Wow. High class service and great food. Price is little high compared to other restaurant in TJ but all worth it. The staff were amazing. Going to any restaurant during covid is scary... but they take precautions SERIOUSLY. First to enter the restaurant you step into a pad of disinfectant, get hand sanitizer and get your temp checked. They also have a beautiful patio which we opted for. Walking through the restaurant, it was absolutely gorgeous. High ceilings, beautiful lighting with touches of vibrant textiles. I loved the look and wanted to get similar fabric for our patio cushions. All silverware came packaged in sealed bags and the main menu was a paper menu. Any reuseable menus were sterilized at the table with a small atomizer. The appetizer plate came wrapped and sealed. We decided to get the queso with pork belly for an appetizer, the bone marrow with octopus for a main. I love bone marrow but it matched so well with the spicy octopus. I was in love. Definitely recommend and the precautions for covid made me more comfortable dining out than I ever felt in the states. read more

The restaurant we originally wanted to celebrate Valentine's Day was closed, so we decided to come here instead since he's been wanting to dine here anyways. He called to make reservations and we drove straight there and parked in the parking structure. There's a security guard standing outside the eatery, which was a little intimidating. When we arrived, they told us that the restaurant doesn't open for another hour, which was weird since we had reservations. Luckily, we were able to get seated and were given complimentary pate and an array of salsas right away. For drinks, I got the Labios Rojos and he opted for the Lorenza. The drinks were so pretty! Mine was a bit too sweet, so I just squeezed a bit of lime in it. For appetizers, we shared the shrimp ceviche and oysters. I love the presentation of everything! They added a spicy sauce to the ceviche at our table and the plate was on a cute car from Mazatlan. The oysters also came in an adorable whale. Both appetizers were fresh and tasted great. While waiting for our entrees, we decided to get more drinks. I chose the cucumber agua fresca with Taijin and it was very refreshing. He got a bottle of Perrier water and another cocktail. This time he chose Cachanilla, which was a Mezcal. It was beautiful and had a nice smokey flavor that wasn't overwhelming. The bone marrow came out next and we were surprised there were octopus pieces on top! You eat it with tortillas, so we essentially had bone marrow tacos. I like that they give you chipotle, flour, and corn tortillas that are made in house. This dish was unique and was so flavorful and buttery. By now, I was getting pretty full, but we still had our prime rib eye next. When it came out, they cut the steak table side and added the veggies on top. It was fun watching the whole thing come together. Of course we had room for dessert, so we shared the pastel Lorenza. This was the perfect ending to our meal. It wasn't too sweet and had caramel, nuts, and vanilla ice cream, with crunchy cookie texture layers in between. I had the best time here and all the servers and bussers were very attentive and friendly. Our server was very knowledgeable about the painting that was by the pretty bar in the back. He even pointed out details about our plates! I would definitely come back, but don't expect it to be an inexpensive experience. This was the best service i have ever received. Hands down. The servers were kind and attentive-- it felt like we had 4-5 servers at the same time. They were constantly checking to see how we enjoyed the food and changing the cutlery. The food was excellent. My favorite was the oysters-- perfectly seasoned and the rice soaked up all the shellfish flavor. 11/10 I couldve eaten that dish everyday. The rib eye was cooked to perfection-- perfectly seasoned and charred with the most perfect medium rare. 10/10 the ceviche was also delicious and was the perfect starter. Lorenza is the latest restaurant-of-the-moment in Tijuana, having been open for only two months, with the local gentry flocking to its imposing glass doors, making a reservation sometimes impossible to come by. The restaurant is located on the second floor of Paseo Chapultepec, directly opposite the equally chic Bodega 8 "Ocho". You can enter the parking garage to Paseo Chapultepec either from Agua Caliente Boulevard or from Calle Sonora. Nonetheless, no matter where you enter, proceed to the second floor for parking. When I entered the reception area at Lorenza for my 2:45 p.m. reservation on Saturday, it was filled with people sitting on long benches patiently waiting for tables. Happily, it is apparent the restaurant honors reservations, for despite the multitudes of waiting people, I was seated immediately. The dining room at Lorenza is divided into several distinct spaces. There is a beautifully decorated front room, with clear colors, a bar, several live olive trees and high ceilings. A second room, more plainly decorated and occupied by families with children, is what I would dub Lorenza's "Siberia". Extending from both rooms is a covered patio that looks inviting and well-furnished, but I noted the staff refers to the patio as the "smoking section", so perhaps that area is best avoided for most of us. it should be noted that Lorenza is a "corporate" restaurant, part of the "Grupo Los Arcos" chain, that owns several popular restaurants in the city. I do not frequent these other restaurants, since I am more focused on chef and family owned places. That may be the reason that although I have been dining in Tijuana for years, and seemingly know all the waiters, I did not initially recognize anyone when I arrived at Lorenza, since the staff has mostly been pulled from other Grupo Los Arcos establishments. And that may have been the reason, being an "unknown" as I was, that the hostess seated me plunk in Siberia at a little table along a window that had a sliding door that continually opened and closed on my right elbow as staff and visitors went to and from the smoking patio. However, I did not make a fuss about it, for I know through long experience that knowledge about food and wine and an educated interaction with the serving staff can render the "worst" table in the restaurant into the very best. That being said, minutes after I was seated in Siberia, a friendly face appeared standing beside my table like a welcome mirage: It was Anthuan [whom I call "Antoine"]. Antoine used to take care of me at La Moresca, a wonderful Italian restaurant on the ground floor of Paseo Chapultepec, just below Lorenza. He said he was one of the few non-Grupo Los Arcos staff members who were hired to work at Lorenza. He mentioned he was working in the coveted front room and that he expected one of his tables to be leaving in five minutes. He asked if I wanted to move up front so he could take care of me, to which I heartily agreed. The wine list at Lorenza is a visual display of the available bottles on an I-Pad. It is divided into the countries of Mexico, France and Italy. Thereafter, you can search for reds, whites and sparkling wines as a subset. You scroll through the bottles and when you see something that interests you, you can click on a wine, and descriptive information will appear to guide you to just the right selection. The staff will also happily decant the wines at the table on request. The menu at Lorenza places much emphasis on sashimi, ceviche, and plated main courses of fish. There are also some large cuts of meat, mostly suitable for two persons in light of the significant amount of grams of the servings. A Carajillo Divorciado made at the table by Antoine served as a flamboyant ending to my meal, although the restaurant features about dozen desserts. I made a mental note as to the chocolate mousse with meringue drenched in an orange liqueur, which caught my attention for a subsequent visit. read more

This is my go-to spot in TJ right now for an unbelievable dining experience. The moment you step inside, you are in awe of the beautiful restaurant decor. There are so many great drinks and wine here just tell your server what you like and they will give you some recommendations. They also have some wines from the Valle which is awesome. Some of my favorites from the menu are the melted pork belly cheese, artichoke soup, and the braised short rib. The octopus is also delicious! For dinner I always roll with the steak, they will bring out different cuts prior and show you what you will be eating. Make sure you save room for dessert as well cause their cake selection is fire! This place was in a shopping center. It was such a nice welcoming spot. Ive never had my chair pushed in and had so many servers be so attentive to every little thing.
