The care in preserving and decorating the interior is just amazing. Large bouquets of fresh flowers grown on the farm are everywhere, along with hanging bunches of dried flowers from years past. The owners are beaming with pride of their generational owned farm and enthusiastically share the store of the farm and the richness of the crops that grow so abundantly in the area. The food is grown locally and prepared in a kitchen attached to the barn/store. The food is magical and the setting completes the experience. We've been to several events here, but this was our first Father's Day there. My dad and husband had an awesome time enjoying food with strawberry and rhubarb themes along with delicious fruit filled beverages served out of mason jars. A sign is up telling you all the details about that apple... it's ready to be picked. There were a good number of people picking apples with us but everyone is spaced out very nicely. Tried a few apples and they were crisp and sweet ... feels like fall is here! Back on the wagon up to the barn, where they have these cute old fashioned scales to weigh your apples and pay. At the farm they have quart and pint containers, bags and trays for you to use as you go out and pick. Their fields are nice and easy to find. The fruit is fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced. The trouble is the timing, anyone who has picked before knows there is a small window. Strawberries usually come near the end of June and then cherries, blueberries and raspberries quickly follow. Blink and you might miss it, as soon as the end of the school year approaches, use the phone number so that you don't! Coulters seems to have fair pricing for their fruit. Berries all are purchased by pint or quart, whereas cherries are purchased by pound. While they are delicious and worth every penny, be aware the cherries will add up quickly, they weigh more than you think! If you're looking for a fun day, rewarding when you bring home the spoils, check out Coulter farms. Remember to catch them at the end of June, and bring some sunscreen and water, it gets hot out there!

I completely unexpectedly purchased a container of Wixson's Comb Honey tonight. It was an impulse…read morebuy at Living Root Winery in Rochester, where it was sitting on the checkout counter, and my ten-year old son talked me into it. I've never eaten a honeycomb before, and don't eat much honey in general. But the really friendly Living Roots clerk explained to us how Wixson's bees actually construct the honeycomb right inside of the container you purchase it in. So we gave it a go. When we got home, before I even noticed, my whole family dug right into it, and ate like a quarter of the honeycomb brick immediately!! I was all, "WHOA, SLOW YOUR ROLL! GIVE ME THAT." As the proprietor of the venture, I had to see what all the fuss was about. I took a spoonful of honeycomb and ... YUP, WHOA, A BITE OF BLISS. I had to cap it, or we likely could have devoured this insanely delicious local natural wonder in one sitting. THANKS to Living Roots for introducing us to Wixson's Comb Honey!
