Hubby & I tried Los 2 Pollos while visiting the Chicago area. We dined in and the service was friendly. The chicken taco was delicious. We also ordered a couple quesadillas with carne asada and chorizo. The tortillas are made in house. The quesadillas were more like tacos but tasty. Everything was so good we didn't even notice we didn't order a side of sour cream. I highly recommend the horchata as well. If I lived here, I'd be a regular. read more

I ordered a burrito, I asked for chicken & beans. My burrito that took 45 minutes to make had unseasoned chicken, no beans, runny tomatoes, ice berg lettuce and no flavor. I also ordered 3 tacos, the were about $5.00 each and very tiny with little filling. Everything was leaking juice and really gross & messy. Prices were insane, beyond greedy, & unreasonable. We ate here a few years ago when it was Los 2 Amigos, it is now Los Das Pollos. We were planning on ordering and taking out, but we decided to eat in. We were greeted immediately and offered a table, which is what changed our mind. A basket of complimentary chips and salsa were offered, and they were good, but not outstanding. My husband had the carne -skirt steak tacos. Each had a good amount of steak and were topped with onions, cilantro and cheese. I decided to try something different and noticed the other customers were all eating the chicken ,so I tried the pollo asada. It was half of a grilled chicken , served with rice, beans, corn tortillas and lots of french fries. I was not expecting the fries, but they were very good. The chicken was very flavorful, juicy and enough for a second meal. Their selection of non-alcoholic drinks was limited and on a cold, winter day the the restaurant was a bit cold. If you dine in you receive a basket of complimentary chips and salsa. They also have daily specials listed on the white board next to the kitchen window. We had the three tacos special with can of soda (choice of chicken, pork, chorizo, or steak) great price and delicious for $6.50, al pastor burrito (had lettuce, beans, tomato and cheese), it was ok, and chicken flautas with rice and beans (loved it) . Beware that they don't overcharge you!! I ordered 4 burritos clearly marked as 8.99 on the menu. She charged me 9.99 each. I politely pointed this out. Rather than fix her mistake and refund my $4.00 the cashier said "he changed the prices but not on the menu." Rather than argue I simply tipped $4.00 less. Skip this place. I haven't had Mexican food as good as there's in a long time. I drove out to celebrate my fiancé's birthday as well as our anniversary. We got the tacos, burrito and sopes. Flavor is AMAZING! I had a slight cold that took my taste buds away but I tasted everything! The service was great too. The waiter brought us samples of there homemade drinks and was always checking on us but not overly. She even ended the night with a cake to celebrate with us. I wanted to give them one more chance so today we ordered 1 beef soup and 1 hominy pork stew. Again what a disappointment. The pork stew no flavor, so much fat on the pork! The beef soup also horrible, was gritty in taste, no potatoes, no carrots (normally are in mexican beef soup). Are they even Mexican? I just left this spot that I thought was Los Dos Amigos (new name is Los Dos Pollos) and to my disappointment they've changed owners, the menu, name, cooks, and flavor. This was honestly my favorite Mexican spot in the area when it was called Los Dos Amigos. I would ALWAYS get the shrimp taco dinner that was bursting with flavor. Honestly I loved everything about this place when the previous owners had it now it's just a disappointment. We had the chips and salsa which were ok but nothing like they were. Before the chips were homemade and the salsa was like no other. Now the chips taste store bought and the salsa is nothing to brag about. Along with the chips and salsa, I had the chicken taco dinner,again not impressed! Listen, if you've been there when it was Los Dos Amigos you're going to be highly disappointed with this change. I'm comparison to Amigos this is subpar but if you stop here not having the Amigos experience then it's decent. In my case, we will not be back. RIP Los Dos Amigos you're extremely missed. read more

GREAT Mexican- very authentic. I had hoped to order from Sabroso, but they were closed so I took a chance on this place, and I'm glad I did. Everything was fresh and flavorful, portions are reasonable for the price and the sauces they provide on the side were awesome (and spicy AF)! My only critique is that I ordered flour tortillas instead of corn and I ended up with (you guessed it) corn tortillas. Big deal? Nah. I just hate corn tortillas, lol. Spectacular food. After ten weeks abroad, my daughter requested Mexican food for her first meal back in the States. We clearly picked the correct place. Our family ordered Bistec a la Mexicana, Carne Asada, fajitas, and a burrito. Each meal was fabulous. The meals didn't arrive super quickly from the kitchen, but the wait was adequate and the service was very friendly. My water glass stayed filled (never an easy task). We could see into the kitchen, and it was super clean, as were the bathrooms. We will absolutely return in the future. This was our favorite kind of place: simply excellent food with good service and friendly staff who give good attention to the details. Others can keep their trendy frou-frou places. Took my son here for lunch. Although our waitress seemed a bit panicked or new this place was great! It was very clean including the bathroom, yes that's important to me! The gentleman at the front was very kind and promptly seated us. It's a little on the small side but you know what they say, good things come in small packages. My son and I both ordered my favorite, a Chicken Flautas Dinner. The food came really quick. It was fresh and hot. My flautas were crunchy with moist tender chicken filling that was perfectly seasoned. My dinner came with a side of mexican rice and beans also perfectly seasoned not too salty and not bland. The sauce our server brought was a light green sauce and a creamy one, they were super delicious with perfect balance of heat and flavor!! My son had the Horchatta, which was disappointing because I don't think it was homemade but a powder mix. Also ordered a steak burito dinner for the hubs to go. I'm not a fan of steak, but this steak was so good. It tasted like it was fire grilled and the burito was pretty big and nicely stuffed. Unfortunately I didn't take a pic. Next time. I initially was happy with this place because it's the closest to the good Mexican food I'm used to from the city. But after having two orders go wrong I can't order there again. Can any Mexican restaurant in the Schaumburg/Palatine/Rolling Meadows area get orders right?! I've had multiple orders wrong in this area. And they are simple orders!! UPDATE: Here's the thing...I tried a handful of other Mexican restaurants in the surrounding area and unfortunately they haven't come close to that authentic Mexican food I missed. My first time stumbling upon this place was while it was still being built. I met the owner onsite and had a conversation about what to expect for the finished product. I was excited about what we discussed and came back when they officially opened for business. My office is nearby and Los dos Amigos is now my go-to lunch spot. Located in a shopping center off Algonquin, it's pretty easy to find. Parking isn't an issue at all. Once entering, you're immediately greeted and told to take a seat wherever you please. The inside of the restaurant is small and has an up-to-date atmosphere. Once seated they bring over free chips and salsa. The ingredients they use are always fresh and you can taste it in the salsa. I've tried multiple menu items for lunch but find myself ordering tacos the most. Overall a great value with friendly staff, talented cooks, and a clean atmosphere.
