Good place with an appointment. Friendly service. Clean bathrooms. I have had many cars smogged here. Though, one issue is that the Techs have been unable to do some of my newer sports cars. More recently, they were unable to smog a late model Porsche 911 GTS bc the entire engine bay was sealed. Even though I informed them in advance when making the appointment. I show up, the tech is trying to figure out what to do. Another customer arrives, so he starts working on that car first. When done, he then tells me he can't do my car. So I then took it to a Chevron on Bascom in Campbell, CA and they did it without any problem. read more

I had to go through the smog check process a few times because my car isn't driven very often I had also recently replaced the battery, so the system wasn't ready. I didn't pass at first, even after driving an extra 200 miles, but after about 800 more miles, I finally passed the test. Every time I came in, Khuong Nguyen was extremely kind and helpful. Welp I went here expecting nothing completely annoyed the the DMV has seen git to insist I go to a "star" gas station for a smog check. Yelp I was irritated. Called 3 stations - while there English is not the best the service is incredible. I called they answered (yes incredible) the man answering said to come now, it took me an hour to pull it together, called again said I will there he said he was waiting, I pulled up pulled in he began testing my car immediately, as I sat waiting another employee walked out and cleaned the key boards on the gas pumps! Holy cow, I passed he took my bill to the register ( put me in-front of a couple people waiting I was embarrassed but they were nice) out the door with receipt paperwork just like that. Needed to get a smog check on my 2013 Hyundai Sonata. Came on a Tuesday around 1:30pm and saw that no one was in line. I pulled right up asked if he could take me now and he said yes! He pulled my car in, handed me a clipboard with a form to fill out, I handed him my car registration renewal and 15 minutes later he was done! That was efficient. Paid inside the gas station office and off I went. Quickest smog service ever and the price was reasonable! Will definitely come back here again with my other cars. read more

I'm just writing to give a fair warning to any neighbors in the area who intended to go to the smog check station by Trader Joe's at the intersection of i280 and Homestead Rd. Do not go there!!! My husband went at 9 am this morning to ask about their smog check and the attendant said $17! My husband was in doubt and he asked again if it was $17 and the attendant confirmed it was $17. When my husband received the bill after service was rendered, he was shocked to see that it was $70! My husband could have very well gone somewhere else for $40 had he known. We pointed this out to the owner so he could have a chance to correct his mistake if it was indeed an honest mistake yet he declined and even hung me up on the phone. At this point, it's not about just the money, it's about the lack of integrity in this business and how they made us feel unfairly treated not to mention how rude he was to me. FYI, they changed ownership from previous father and son business if you have been going for years and liked their service. The new owner is Chevron according to others in the area. For your benefit, think again before going. There are so many other places that offer much better customer service than here! read more

Very friendly. Always hazy on what the exact price will be, because he's got a bunch of coupons he applies. But in the end it is always cheaper than the other smog check shops in the neighborhood. The only drawback is the wait. I guess it's hit and miss. On Tuesday I brought in my car and had to wait 45 minutes before he hooked up my car. On Wednesday we brought the other car, and no wait. In and out in 10. Its a great little business. Please everyone give this shop your business. Just don't do it on the day I need a smog check too. read more

Sonny is the best! I've gotten a few cars smogged here and he always makes it as easy as possible. My jeep wrangler had some issues and he guided me through getting it to pass. Instead of using up my free retest he just used his code reader to see if it was ready for a test multiple times. If I went anywhere else I would have had to pay double. Lousy service. He knocked over my sunglasses and left them on the driver's side floor where I almost stepped on them. He left the car with wide open windows and the key in it, where it wasn't visible from smog check area. Finally, I left my cell phone number and he promised to call when it was ready, "in about half an hour." I called an hour and a half later and he said, "I was so busy I didn't have a chance to call." I went to the smog center at this location on 9-26-19 for my son's truck, then again on 11-13-19 for my own SUV. The ownership of this business changed between those two recent visits. Sunny, the man who was there for many years, was very good, efficient, and reasonably priced. I received coupons in the mail for his business and that's how I found him many years ago. I was surprised and initially disappointed last week to find a different man running the operation. However, I showed him my coupon and he said he would honor it so I decided to stay there for the smog check. I noticed that the shop was sparkling clean compared to the somewhat grimey appearance at my previous visit. There was one vehicle that had just finished being checked, so the technician took me in immediately after the other vehicle drove out. I couldn't believe how quickly he ran the tests and printed up my paperwork! They even offered me my choice of coffee or tea during my very brief wait. The price was so reasonable and the owner was polite, efficient, and answered all my questions. The official name of this business is now "Los Altos Chevron Smog Check" and that should be updated on Yelp. I will definitely be doing all my smog checks here from now on. read more

Horrible. The worst. I spoke to the owner, Sunny,, on the phone. He tells me the price is $50 for a test only smog check but because I found him on yelp he will offer me a $15 discount. He told me he would offer an additional $5 discount when I arrived making the grand total $30! He asked me what type of car I had and I explained to him that it was an all original, completely stock 1992 GMC Typhoon with only 17,300 original miles. Upon arrival he begins looking at the engine and I begin to realize he has no idea what he is doing. He tries to tell me that the air filter was modified and because of the modification he cannot smog test it. I explain to him that the auto is completely original, all stock and that it has won numerous awards in multiple car shows for being an all original, unmolested auto. We even go online to look up photos of the exact auto. I even pulled out the passing smog test done in 2010 on this exact same truck!! He finally tells me he will smog test it but it is going to cost and additional $15 plus tax... We are back up to $55+ which is almost twice he quoted me on the phone. Meanwhile, another customer shows up and begins to get aggravated because we are taking too long. Sunny tells him that he can help him and completely kicks me to the curb. I wasted an hour of my time here and got nothing accomplished. I ended up taking my truck to Los Gatos Smog located on hwy 9. It passed with flying colors, no question of modification or anything. The owner of this test location is Lloyd and he has been testing autos for 30 years Took them all of 25 minutes and cost me $45. Skip Los Altos Quick smog. We have taken our cars here regularly for smog check, but that all ended awhile ago. We left our car, shopped at TJ's, picked up the car, and the guy said everything was fine. About ten days later, we got a phone call from our insurance company asking for details on an auto accident. Apparently, when backing our car out of the service bay, he hit another customer's car and damaged it. They filed a claim against us/our insurance, and the attendant never said a word about it to us. We were stunned that he would have caused damage to another car and not told us. I can not support a person or business who operates in this manner. read more

I always gas up here as it's on my work route and I decided to give it try when my MDX needed to be smogged. I picked a good time and was told it would only be a 10 min wait. 5 minutes later he asks me if I'm ready. Smog check took 15 minutes tops. Nice guy as well. I usually dread smog checks, I've had it turn into a 1-2 hour experience.. This was pretty painless, back home in 30 minutes. I had a coupon for the smog check from a mailing and he took it no questions asked with no added fees. I'll be back next time as well....nice neighborhood find. Btw, there is a Trader Joes, a Rite Aid with pharmacy, a Starbucks and Peets coffee, a nice bike store, a nice mexican restaurant and a Subway, plus other shops in the same shopping center, so it would be easy to find something to do if there was a wait involved. read more

It's in a great location, near Trader Joe's and Starbucks if you don't feel like waiting. I brought my Ford Mustang in with an aftermarket Cold Air Intake and he actually took the time to make sure I had my C.A.R.B. Sticker and not just fail me on the spot for it. Really great service here. Sunny was notably professional, friendly, efficient and patient with not just me but the other drop in and appt customers I watched him interact with. I was in here twice as my car did not pass the first smog check. He knows what he is doing and reminded me of what was needed to reset my system after my mechanic worked on the car. He provided very knowledgeable input. He was able to squeeze me back in for a retest without keeping me waiting for long at all. Overall a very good experience which I have found to be much better than other smog places I have used. I will continue to bring my vehicles here thanks to Sunny's great service. Came here for a smog check and Sunny was really nice and friendly. I called in for a quote first and he said if I brought it in the next day, he'll give me a good price. When I got there, there was someone else before me but the guy didn't leave his keys for his car (good going), so he said he'll help me first. But as he was about to pull my car in, the guy came back he told me he has to work on mine after since he was here first. No hard feelings. He said it would be about 20 minutes on the first car and then about another 20 on mine. So I decided to walk around in the Plaza nearby. I went to get my smog check done at Quickie Smog because it was the closest place to my house. I found them from the California Department of Transportation website so I figured they must be good. My boyfriend has been going to the Chevron it is attached to for decades now and he says its family run so he was happy to go with me. I got my smog done today and I was very happy with the service. We dropped off my car after warming it up on the freeway for a bit, went to Starbucks next door, and picked up the car 15 minutes later. The guy who was there (I didn't catch his name) was very nice and we chatted with him for a while after the test was done. He gave me the $10 off even without me bringing a coupon so that was a definite plus. All in all, a great experience. And yes, my car passed- and apparently, with flying colors! read more

I got a coupon and confirmed the cost over the phone with the owner. Upon our arrival, the owner logged in the info from the DMV registration letter and ask to wait till he is done with other two cars. Once he got to our car he said this is a STAR testing and we need to pay 50% more of the cost he quoted us (45 instead of $30). Instead of alerting us that the cost is much higher to what he quoted foe us over the phone when he took the registration info, he waited till he start to work on the car. What made it worse is when I called back to another SMOG testing place that had similar coupon, they said STAR testing does NOT cost more.... read more

Sonny was friendly, and helpful. I showed up on a Thursday afternoon for smog test on my 2012 Honda. He estimated (correctly) that he would be finished in 30 minutes. He advised me that in the future i should screw the gas cap on tighter after i fill up my car with gas, since the testing instrument might read it as a check engine problem. It was all ok, and passed. $50. He scanned the bar code on the smog test notification i received from the dmv and now I am good to go. read more

This guy has the worst customer service attitude. I would give him zero stars if I could. He is very condescending and tried to bait and switch me for a much higher priced smog test for my older car. I called ahead to confirm his price for my 1998 car. He said it would cost $29.95 plus $10 for the certificate for my 1998 CAR. I go there and he "greeted" me very rudely. Then he sees that my certificate actually specifies that I need a Star test. Well of course, even my 2009 car needs a Star test. He's in the business. He should know I need a Star test for a 1998 car. But he blames me for not explaining on the phone that I actually need a Star test. So he acts as if this is a surprise to him. Then he explains he would actually have to charge me $59.95 for the proper Star test. Stay away from Quickie Smog Test Only. read more

My family has been a customer of Quickie Smog for over a decade. We typically use the Smog Check Coupon which clearly states "We match competitors coupons". Well, not really. I brought a competitor coupon for $28.50 and I received a impolite response - "well, why did you come here?". And then was charged $30. Not a big deal except for part 2, the check engine light was on and I asked regarding getting this taken care of first. I was told that there was a good chance that it would pass - well, it didn't. When I inquired why I was told it would most likely pass, I was told "I never said that". And when I asked about rechecks - well, there was no discount for rechecks either. So my family with 6 cars will be going elsewhere from now on. read more
