You'll find Los Colorines on your walk back from the Tepozteco headed into town. After trekking for 2 hours I was greeted with a friendly face and inviting restaurant. The place is spacious with 3 story seating al fresco. The tlacoyo and quesadilla were tasty. You'll find traditional regional plates here. I ordered the flautas so very basic but the family order the sopa, sope and enchilada. They ate it all. It was a bit busy this day 7/5 but the food came out hot. The service was fast for the food. Now it did take about 15-20 min to get the check because the credit card machines and print out receipt printer was having issues. So we were there a bit longer to wait to pay since we didn't know how much we owe. The location is not air conditioned but we went when the weather was nice. They were doing construction that day on the roof so it was a bit loud but it's only temporary. read more

I went to Tepoz finally last month with some friends (one of them is local to Mexico City) and the first restaurant he recommended to go visit was Colorines. This restaurant is really cool with the very Mexican decor along with great food. Really enjoyed every single dish we had for lunch that the next day we decided to go back for breakfast since they have a different menu. The first night for dinner I had the arrachera monterrey (grilled skirt steak) which had a side of guac, black beans and grilled onions. They brought us fresh homemade tortillas and a really good salsa made in molcajete. My friend also ordered the "tortitas colorines" which were two egg patties with some sort of vegetable/ herb that is only local to this region of Mexico. I had a few tacos with the tortitas and they were very tasty with the ranchero sauce they came with. The next day I had the chilaquiles and they were also great!! It is a great way to start your day and then go explore the cool town of Tepoztlan. Highly recommend Los Colorines to everyone who wants great authentic Mexican food!!! read more

The hardest part is deciding what to get! Los Colorines is one of the go-to restaurant for locals and tourists in Tepoztlan. The food is always delicious. I have been to both this one and the one in Cuernavaca, they are equally good. I tried the Tortilla Soup, Sopes, Cecina, and some deserts. As always, it was mouth-watering. We were really attracted to the decor of the restaurant, and I must admit that it is super cute inside. The decor is really nice. However, the staff was super rude to us, and we felt very uncomfortable there. The best part of this experience was my strong margarita. The food was very underwhelming, my chicken was super dry, and the tortillas were hard as a rock. It is defiently not worth the price, just go to the market nearby. read more

This is my parent's favorite restaurant. Good food, but the tables are a little to close to each other. It's colorful, and there's a lot going on. There was some drilling and construction when we arrived, so my father complained that the dust from the drilling was unhealthy, so they stopped. The food was good, but the service was a little slow. read more
