WOW !!! JUST Wow!!! This place is breathe taking…read more. LAS POZAS meaning "The Pools" is a surrealistic garden created by Edward James, in a subtropical rainforest in the Sierra Gorda mountains of Mexico. This place was amazing it has natural waterfalls and pools with surrealist sculptures of concrete in the middle of a rainforest... We were visiting San Luis Potosí and drove to Xilitla to stay in a cabin in the middle of the beautiful rainforest... We went right after things had opened up again from covid so it was not that busy since people were still scared to travel... We did not know that you had to buy pre-sale tickets for Las Pozas at the museum before entering. So we had to wait until the next day to go in... The ticket includes entrance to the museum which is located in El Centro and entrance to Las Pozas.. They give you a guided walking tour throughout Las Pozas and let you take photos as you move throughout Las Pozas... Our tour guide was great and gave so much detail about the surrealist sculptures and Edward James... I would recommend checking this place out, it is so beautiful and stunning... The location is pretty hard to get to because the road could be dangerous to drive depending on the weather conditions.. We rented a car and drove from the Centro of San Luis Potosi, but I'm pretty sure there are busses that will take you to the museum or other tours... Definitely 5 stars for this beautiful place...

What can I tell you. This was one of the of the hidden gems from my home state. Last time we were…read morehere was around 15 yrs ago. Xilitla has grown so much since our last visit, and certainly this is one of the biggest reasons why. A must see place if you are in town and have plenty of time to spend at least half a day for this visit. Why? Well, we made the mistake of arriving around 1pm, thinking that we would be inside by 1:30 and done by 5. The line was soooooooo long that it took us almost 3 hrs to get inside. Even though the whole ticketing process takes less than 5 min, this place has a capacity of 800 visitors, so if you are 801, you have to wait until one leaves so you get a ticket to get in. This was the painful part...once inside you can walk around to visit every single corner of this marvelous place. The interesting part is that you can take a stair to the floor and end up at the ceiling or into a different room with a fountain, a room, a surrealist sculpture or to a beautiful water pond connected to the river flow. There are two separate places to visit here, one which is the surrealist castle, and the second the "pozas", which are the water ponds where you can take a dive, refresh yourself and enjoy the waterfall at the top which flows into the pond. Just be careful when walking into the pozas, as the pathway is made out of stone which is very slippery when wet. Since most people walk out from this place to the exit in wet clothes, it will always be slippery . Definitely it was worth the wait and the time spent here. My son was the only one being sad for not having enough time to get into the water, as security was already asking everyone to leave as they close at 6pm. I'll make sure next time to arrive earlier so we can enjoy longer...!
