We had just arrived into town and needed to grab some dinner. We happened to find this spot just by looking through reviews, but knew that we had made a good choice when, after telling the hotel valet who called the taxi for us and the taxi driver where we were headed, they both agreed that it was a really great spot to grab some food. Our taxi driver let us know that typically you need a reservation since the spot is so tiny that table space is limited. He was nice enough to call ahead for us and see if we needed one and made one just in case. We arrived and there was a big family in there as well as one or two other tables full, but we were lucky enough to be able to grab a table right away. For food, my boyfriend got the Chicharrón enchiladas, I got the enchiladas rojos, and we both shared an order of flautas (because duh). I initially ordered the enfrijoladas, but they happened to be out of beans, so those were a no-go. The enchiladas were so delicious. They were filled with shredded beef and the sauce was just to die for. We definitely gorged ourselves at the spot, so make sure when you come, you're hungry! I am a wine drinker and while they did have red wine there, it was on the sweeter side. So keep that in mind when you come here. It seems as though they mostly just serve beers and refrescos. Overall, I would definitely recommend this spot. But do make sure that you call ahead and make a reservation. read more

It had been a few years since I had been to this magical city, I was so looking forward to going back to this place for a bowl of pozole and some tacos dorados,, what a disappointment. From the moment we arrived the host/server was unfriendly and rude. No welcoming smile. It felt like everything was a chore for him. Almost like if he was doing us a favor by allowing us to be in his presence. It was quite bizarre, you would maybe think he was just having a bad day? During the same week we had gone by twice, at the top of the hour, hoping someone would default on their reservation (as we did not have one, we did not plan to go, reservations highly recommended) and we could have a table and both times we were met with this unfriendly spirit. I'm not one to write many reviews I just felt obligated to let others know of this "famous" restaurant that all of the "buzz" about this place is not met with the service you'd expect from an establishment with this kind of reputation. Not once did they come check on us to see if we needed anything or if we were satisfied with the food and service. We were just ignored until we needed to pay the bill. No hard feelings but I will not frequent this business again as they do not deserve my hard earned money. If you would like the same quality food, and friendly service go right across the street to Taquería "WENDY" their tacos dorados are much better, they actually have flavor and the pozole is great too. We live in Zacatecas 6 months out of the year. Los Dorados de Villa is a just minutes (walking) from our house so we eat there frequently. I've ALWAYS liked this place, The ambience, the menu selection, their great choice of moles and regional dishes. As they are extremely popular and usually very busy, we always make reactions. Tonight, spur if the moment, we decided we wanted to eat there and called to see if they had a table for two available (about 7:45 on a Saturday night). We were told they couldn't seat us until 10:00 so we ordered carry out. Less than ten minutes later I was there to pick up my order -- there wasn't a single customer in the house! When I got home and opened the order, I found naked enchiladas accompanied by a bag of cold (ie fresh from the refrigerator), plus separate bags with sour cream, cheese and avacado, etc. We had to assemble our meals and then heat them up, like Blue Apron, or something! This was the best food we had in the 3 days we stayed in zacatecas. Everything we had was delicious. I had chicken flautas, my daughter had pozole and my husband had enchiladas. The place is tiny with a real 1800 decor. I gave it 4 stars because the service was not that good and they lock the door which was really weird. We had to call for them to let us in. We really like this place. Very quaint and their decorations are very interesting. I had enchiladas and my wife had the green pozole. Both were excellent. This is another must place to eat in zacatecas and it's open late. Most other restaurants close at 9 or earlier. Call ahead for a reservation. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!!! My wife and I traveling from California, made reservations for a group of 18 for this place 3 weeks in advance. We were in town for our niece's wedding. The owner's brother took our reservation and made it very clear to us that they only accepted cash and that they would not honor our reservation if we were 1 minute late... We arrived 15 minutes early and they and our reservation was not in the books. We asked to speak to the man who took our reservation and he acted like the conversation never took place and did absolutely nothing to accommodate us. By the way, the restaurant was COMPLETELY EMPTY! Luckily, by the grace of God, we were able to find a place that was able to seat our large party in a timely manner. And may I add, the food at the other place was delicious. I will never recommend this place to anybody. NEVER!!! read more

I was there on the 23rd of Jan. We had a big party to start with (11) but ended up increasing to 15 and they were able to accommodate us. Even with reservations the wait was between 30 to 45 mins...but it's worth it. Please note that it is small but as soon as you walk in you feel you are taken back in time. From wall to wall has memorabilia from the Mexican Revolution with General Villa all over the place...you get so caught up with everything around you and the feel that when the door opens you can almost sense it's Gen Villa himself wAlking through. Now please note that this place is known for the enchiladas and you'll be taking a chance ordering something else...it would be like going to a burger place and asking for a chicken sandwich???? Pretty good. I had the green posole and a margarita and my Mom had the carne arrachera with a cafe de olla. Both were good. I especially liked the buñuelos. I hadn't had any since I was a child.
