Los Dos is our favvvv! We grew up in the small town where the restaurant was invented, and since moving to the valley, it's the only place that we can still find REAL, AUTHENTIC New Mexican food! We are here at least once a week, and tonight we heard a couple try it for the first time and say the meanest thing about their meal :( I realized we have never wrote a review to balance out all the valley people bashing Los Dos for not being chipotle, Taco Bell, or some drive thru in their neighborhood that they think is "real" New Mexican food lol! So here is all the reasons we LOVE Los Dos, and maybe a few reasons why you might NOT love Los Dos: - Actual Spice!! They have everything from hatch chilis to creamy red and green chilis sauce - If you ask for a modification on your plate, they are more than happy to accommodate! But please keep in mind that it's not going to be as fluent of a meal as the way the cooks know how to do it up regularly. - The entire staff is family! And they run the joint like all waking hours ‍ so please be kind when they aren't able to take you in close to closing or before operating hours. - If you have a chance to meet the owner or chat with the staff, they are seriously so cool! They really do welcome guests as family. Our fav dishes are: Queso Fundido, The Chimichanga Dinner (shredded beef + Christmas style), The Fajitas, Tamales, and pretty much everything else on the menu! So, in short, you should try it!! And if it's not for you, don't come on Yelp and compare it to your local Chilis.... That's all! Happy Saturday!! read more

Sorry I did not post this sooner. They ARE OPEN FOR LUNCH!!! Their Spicy-as-all-get out food is really a singular attraction in the valley.

I had not been to Los Dos Molinos in many years (they still had a restaurant in NYC), and it was time for my fix of New Mexican Chile. Companion and I arrived at 5:45 to an almost packed restaurant on a Tuesday night. We were seated immediately, and a bowl of beautifully thin tortilla chips was set on the table along with red and green bowls of salsa. Warning: This isn't the tame salsa you get in other places. This has character and tons of flavor along with some decent but not overbearing heat. Companion enjoyed the green salsa, but ordered a taco salad because of fear of heat. A huge taco salad with excellent guacamole and crema was brought out. For myself, I ordered the Pollo Fundido which is a huge amount of white meat chicken, wrapped in a tortilla, in a pool of green chile with rice and beans. This was the best Pollo Fundido I have ever eaten. Full of flavor, not too spicy, and a huge portion. While I did not eat the rice, the frijoles were wonderful. The meal reminded me of eating in a place in Lordsburg, New Mexico that was my previous best Pollo Fundido. In spite of the crowd, service was excellent, the food was hot, and the place was clean. 5 stars read more

Without question this is some of the best Mexican food in the valley. Extremely authentic and fresh. Food and service is always excellent. Have been here multiple times now and will continue coming back. If you like great authentic Mexican food we strongly recommend this place. read more

Deceptive business practices... 1. I was charged $77.41 when the bill should have been approximately $34 (for two combo platters and two lemonades). The bill did seem high at the time, but as I was with company and treating, I did not want to contest it and make a scene. I did ask for a receipt--which is not itemized and proves nothing. 2. I was presented with an electronic payment device by the waitress who served me and which coerced me into paying an 18% tip. The lowest tip I could select on the screen was 18%--and it went up from there. The food was OK (the spices had more heat than flavor). It was certainly not worth what they charged me! If you decide to give them your business, make sure you ask for an itemized receipt. If only I had been misbilled, then I might accept what happened as a mistake. But the 18% tip coercion demonstrates a pattern of unfair and deceptive business practices. I hope they pull this on a county inspector and get fined. read more

Don't even bother!! Service was more than mediocre, food below average, and the bill was wrong. Apparently, they are known for overcharging and since they bring your check by hand is hard to catch the errors. I know that the area is not the best but I thought it was going to be a great hole in the wall......just terrible. read more

My taco salad, which I had delivered to me yesterday, was incomplete. There were NO tomatoes, sour cream, or guacamole at all. They were generous with the ground beef, but there was minimal lettuce. The salsa was so spicy that once I put it on the salad, I could no longer eat the salad and had to dispose of it. The beans tasted like they were straight out of a can. read more

Sat outside in east side shade and sipped home made tequila and cigar along with pitcher of margaritas for birthday. Jalapino poppers were best ever. Both red and green salsa with chips were muy spicy. Service was great. Had the recommended ribs that were tasty. Busy place for a lunch hour. Secret is definately out. The place was packed but we were served quickly. We got a free cheese crisp for our check-in. It definitely was not the best, should have been cooked longer. My tamale was very good but the temperature was luke warm. Taco shells seemed a bit under cooked and unremarkable. But, 10 stars for the salsa. I could drink that stuff! So, all three stars are for the chips and salsa. read more

I was out of town on a business trip and stopped here for lunch with a client. The service was slow and we both agreed the taco stand around the corner would have been a better bet. The food was ok but the bill received did not reflect what we should have got. I was more or less irritated that I left still thirsty and had to stop at a gas station to grab a drink before hitting the airport. read more

Amazing! I came here a few weeks ago with a girlfriend and we had the best time. We stayed for a few hours and had a few drinks, we didn't eat much food but we enjoyed the environment. We stayed so long that a few more joined our group and we ended up talking with the owner of this location - great guy, if you see him around definitely strike up a conversation. I love that they have a keto menu available, its so rare amongst restaurants to have keto available (rather than picking a part your meals). I will say that we ordered the "large grilled shrimp" which was four pieces for $8 - this was disappointing in my opinion. The shrimp, while amazing, were very small and I felt a little over priced. However with that being said, it wouldn't stop me from coming back. They're social distancing booths and tables, masks required coming in and going to the restroom, staff wears masks (and I think gloves). I am so sad. I spent WAY too much money on this, and while I read that the red sauce was spicy I didn't realize it was SO HOT it made EVERYTHING it touched ABSOLUTELY FLAVORLESS and inedible. The burn hasn't left my mouth yet. What a waste of money. The chicken tostada is fine but it's flavorless because there's no additional flavor in it, I get to add the flavor sauces, a choice of flaming hot sauce, or the green sauce is tolerable. I've never ordered a green sauce in my life but I've never been disappointed in a red sauce. This stuff is disgusting. And the tostada is more like a flat burrito since a crispy tostada has now soaked up all the stuff on it and it's only edible with a fork. Which is fine. I haven't been back in years but after talking to a friend we decided to grab a bite for lunch. (Last time I went was in old town and had good memories of my meal.) The restaurant has some pretty cool stuff by the entrance, albeit 2 entrances that are a bit confusing. Walked in, and the place was clean, but looked pretty tired. I'm sure it hasn't been painted or renovated in 25 years. After we sat down we were served (by a very friendly and attentive server) tortillas with green and red salsa. The chips were good the salsa was just hot (and I like hot) but completely flavorless. Next we ordered some guacamole and asked for tacos in flour (flour unavailable for some strange reason only corn) and we ordered a burro (half chicken half shredded beef). The guacamole was mixed avocado with SOUR CREAM and some cheese over top. Completely flavorless and inedible. I can't say I've ever seen anyone cut guacamole with sour cream. The tacos were greasy .. but the meat had flavor. The corn tortilla was super greasy but was good. Served like a street taco. The burro was just flavorless, but a good size. I ate a bit of each side (some beef and some chicken) and just tossed the soggy tortilla out. I was able to get through around a third of the burro before thinking it just wasn't good enough to keep eating. Anyway lots of authentic and yummy Mexican in town I don't think I'll return anytime soon. read more

Some like it hot.. but some like it not (me) Yes, I can't handle heat, but it doesn't mean the food has to taste flavorless right? Man, my wife and I were looking for good Mexican food for the second straight night in Arizona. This place was not, here's why.. I ordered their Roasted Pork Tostada w/ taco, as it was one of the few mild items on the menu that the owner or manager did not feel to even care about, as he took my wife's order (I forgot what she had) and then mine, he was like you can't hang with the big boys? and his attitude was like ok, whatever and when I got my meal, the food tasted to me like ok, whatever. I mean, if the food doesn't have spices, you should at least have season in it, as it was completely bland. Poor pork, it was roasted so well and the rest of the tostada and taco were done perfectly, but without seasoning (salt), it goes no where; it should not be allowed to walk outside, as it had no clothes on type of analogy. They placed no care on their mild items and what's sad is Bobby Flay likes them. On top of that, my wife's dish had the spices, but even that, hers lacked seasoning as well. This place we would not come to again and Bobby Flay, I don't trust him anymore. Oh yeah, the drinks were not that good. I had the Sangria Margarita, don't let it fool you, it looked great and sounded great, but it tasted sour. The wait staff were rude and they ignored our table a lot. I understand they were busy, but hello, we are here.. do I need to set a trap for them to stand next to our table? like to be nice, super glue? The waitress at the end accepted our gift card, but when it did not cover the whole amount, she acted like we couldn't pay.. what the heck? fool! Thanks for the free Cheese Crisp, but man, it is just an unfolded cheese quesadilla. Nothing special. read more

Great place for a beer and some awesome New Mexico style food. Their motto is Some Like It Hot, so be forewarned, although they do have some non-spicy items too. Half of the building is for the restaurant and half for the bar. Looks like a dive but it's really not. It's a cute mom-and- pop establishment, well lit, and kid-friendly. We have been eating at Los Dos for years and love the Mesa location. The food is spicy, freshly prepared and perfection. Both their salsas, red and green, are very spicy and addictive. Their entrees are all exceptional. But, their Flautas are different and wonderful. Flakey shell with a choice of chicken or beef, are excellent.All their selections are spicy and a great choice. Food is delicious but service is constantly sparse and unfriendly. As a neighboring business I often stop in for lunch and this is the case every time I come, but it was finally time to leave a review. Plan on coming for the spicy and flavorful food, but also expect to be treated as if you're an inconvenience to their day. LOVED our experience, went here with my boyfriend when he got off work and really enjoyed the staff (short but sweet convo as it was busy lunch rush so understandable ) they don't fuck around with the spice which my boyfriend loves, I on the other hand cannot handle any hint of spice due to heartburn so I ordered the carnitas and shredded beef tacos and they were 10/10 best carnitas I've had and no heartburn which is rare for me lol we will definitely be going back read more

This location has been here for over 20 years and I am so happy it is still up and running. The New Mexican food from this location is 100% delicious and authentic. This place is simply the best. Wow! We'd been coming here regularly up 'til 2007 -- when my Dad passed away. This place, and the one in Phoenix, were his favorites. I was just able to go back again, and holy super wow, was it good. I had the enchiladas and a tostada. The tostada stole the show, but it was all good. And my wife had the beef taco and said it was the best taco she'd ever had. I used to get the Carne Adovada, but I've since turned vegetarian. They were really nice and excited to offer me a veggie dish -- some squash deal. But, I hate vegetables, so I just went with old standards but veggie style. So good. read more

Great Mexican food, but be careful, it's pretty spicy! I always leave here with a good sweat going. The spiciness starts right away, when they deliver the red salsa as you sit down. It is flavorful and the chips are perfect, not too salty or greasy. I've had the tamales and enchiladas here. Both meals left me stuffed. You can't go wrong with their red beef or chicken, both are delicious!! I love Los Dos Molinos as a go-to for New Mexican cuisine. Green Chile is HOOOTT! it's hard to find proper flavourful Green Chile in the Phoenix area - and Los Dos Molinos doesn't disappoint. At our table we ordered both green and red chile enchiladas, tacos and green chile casserole with an egg over it. Don't order if you can't handle the heat. First time here! I love super spicy food and have been wanting to go for years. I have finally found a place where the spice level for the claim of being " spicy" is perfect and accurate. We came with two kids in tow...so yes, for those who can't handle it, they have options. We had the table side guacamole. The two salsas with chips at the start were both some of the beat. I ate the adovada ribs...they were awesome!! And make sure you get the "Kick Ass" margarita. Manager was super nice. My only ask ( and no, I won't give less stars...this is not their fault...but the issue with trying to run a restaurant on the ability to turn tables on limited capacity during Covid...which eats into their ability to even break even) is wait util I am completely in my seat before you ask me what o want to drink! read more

I had a frozen margaritas with strawberry and it was fantastic. I will only be in Phoenix for a week but I'm going back there before I go home! Los Dos Molinos is our family's all-time favorite Mexican food restaurant. I moved to Texas about 4 years ago and still make it to Los Dos EVERY time I come home. My dad will even freeze the salsa for me and fly it to Dallas when he comes to visit! Yes, the food is spicy! This is New Mexico style Mexican food made with hatch chilies; of course it's spicy! I don't agree with the reviews that say the food is too spicy to eat; there are plenty of menu options for those who can't handle the New Mexican style heat. The service is always quick/friendly and the margaritas are incredible. I can't recommend this place enough (and am already counting down to my next visit!) read more
