    Vineyard trail at Los Flores
    Terie C.

If you like to "hike" on a road, then go to Los Flores. BUT, if you are like me and want to hike because you love winding trails, dirt, challenging trails, then Los Flores as it is in its current condition is NOT the place to go. I checked in at the main gate and had a map of where I wanted to hike. About 12 miles. Most of the trails I had pre planned to hike were closed due to landslides previously because of the rain. I did find a small path that connected to the road by the tower, but there were a couple of rototillers on the path that I had to go around and the ground was super uneven-no trail running here. Finally, I connected to Vineyard Loop. MAJOR MISTAKE! I was about 1/4 mile in when it turned to stickers and mustard plants completely overgrown and over my head. Bad decision on my part "hoping" it would clear up. It only got worse. I should have brought a machete to get through the stickers. Legs and arms scratched to hell, but I made it out of the 2 mile loop. I finished my hike at 8.5 miles and when I checked out at the main gate and told the guy that Vineyard Loop should be closed, his response was "it is closed". I informed him that there were NO SIGNS on either entrance/exit to Vineyard Loop to indicate that this trail was closed. Again, his response was "oh wow". Yes....oh wow!!! DO NOT HIKE ANYWHERE IN LOS FLORES PARK EXCEPT THE BORING ROADS! my personal opinion as a hiker. Be safe everyone.

Covered Rest stops w water and it houses throughout park.

Lovely hidden gem. Wear comfortable shoes to walk on rocky dirt trails. Rolling hills with mountain views.

Went to the pumpkin patch even they had going on this weekend! Really enjoyed the scenery and setup they had! Wasn't huge but it wasn't small either. Couple bounce houses, a couple vendors and a pumpkins galore! Loved that they had a corn maze too!!!!

I stopped going because of all the car break ins. Your car and valuables are always at risk.

Great Place to hike! Dog friendly too. This place has many trails with port-a-potties and drinking water along the way!

Just had a great botanical hike with our homeschool group. It is so pretty right now, out there. Annie was our guide today.

Great little park: the trails were well marked and offered great views of the valley. And the park personnel were extremely nice and helpful

How have I never been here!!?!? This place is spectacular!…read more I was driving home from Pismo by myself and decided to take the scenic route. When I saw a sign that said Dunes open, I immediately was intrigued. It's a little off the beaten path but so worth it. I drove past the gate and down a windy road that was narrowed by the sand blowing onto the blacktop road. The sand was untouched. Crisp ripples of waves made of sand for miles. Then a parking lot overlooking a turbulent ocean and pristine beaches. Not a soul on the beach. I took my shoes off and made fresh footprints in the sand all the way to the water's edge. It was glorious! Back in the parking lot I read several placards of information and history about the area scattered around the parking lot as several other cars came and parked. There are several picnic benches and what looked to be a few pot toilets available. A fairly decent parking lot and handicap parking spots available. Grab a picnic and enjoy the day.

I went to La Pasadita Oaxaquena to get nachos and wanted to eat it at the beach. This beach looked…read morelike the best one that was closest. As I approached the entrance, I saw a board of rules (very helpful before you enter the preserve). Also, there is a little booth where someone will greet you. I was greeted by Megan, the Ranger. She was very friendly and greeted me with a great big smile! That was a good sign prior to entering the place :) On my way to the beach, I saw a bunch of cows that stared me down as I slowly drove down the road. I know they were staring because they were curious versus wanting to trample me to death...I think. The whole preserve is kept soooo cleeeean! I'm glad that it hasn't been bombarded like the other beaches. Overall, mind-blowing experience. Can't wait to come back. Would I recommend? Absolutely! Will I be back? Yup!
