I dropped in for lunch. I walked in and the waitress told me to sit anywhere. The problem was that every single vacant table had not been bussed. I had to point that out to her. She picked a table to clean, and I sat there. I had cheese enchiladas and a chalupa. The waiter brought my food and his thumb was touching my food. I grew up in this town and was shocked at how good the food was. It's been a while since I've eaten here, but the cheese enchilada plate, no onions, is what I'd order for my last meal. Me encanta! The salsa is excellent but gringo hot, the chips are warm and perfectly crispy. Occasionally, they're stale, but that's rare. A friend taught me to mix the beans and rice together with the salsa and the garnish from the enchiladas. Good beans are hard to find, and Los Jarritos's are exemplary, so why do I mix them? I'll have to think about that. The service has always been great. I've never noticed anything to make me think the place was anything but lovingly cared for. GREAT TEX-MEX! Hubby and I came to Comfort to visit Comfort Vintage and Blooms. Forgetting that most everything is closed Monday AND Tuesday's. Don't be fooled by the exterior - the fajitas were fantastic: the meat was lean, tender and flavorful. The tortillas were fresh and tasty. Their chips are thick but crispy and very fresh. I had the ladies plate with great fluffy rice, cheese enchilada and crispy beef taco. Again, everything was great-fresh and flavorful. will definitely come back. read more

If I could give Los Jarros no stars I certainly would. If you're a tourist, sure the food is decent but to the local patrons, if you choose to support an establishment that tells your customers "to mop up your own mess" and refuses to give you the owners information or help you in setting an appointment to speak to them, then you are clearly a favored patron. I've lived here 20 years and though the food is decent and the errors they have made are more consistent than positive impacts, I am done giving this establishment the benefit of the doubt. They lack good management and leadership skills and have clearly lost sight of the humility they owe to their humble roots. On the way through town I stopped in to pick up some breakfast tacos. The tacos were tasty, filling, & cheap. Homemade tortillas a plus. Even though the place was swamped with regular customers the staff was very prompt, helpful, and efficient. I will be back next time through town! Maybe for a frozen mug and cold beer! read more

Being from Brownsville, TX, really good Mexican food is hard to come by in the Hill Country. We have found a few places and this one is one of favorites. This place has authentic Mexican food. The chips are homemade and the best I have ever had. Our food came out quickly and piping hot. Beans and rice were very good and the enchiladas were tasty. The flour tortillas were fresh, fluffy, and hot. This is not a place to go to for atmosphere but the food is well worth it. This is a small town Mexican Restaurant and we hope it stays that way. I've lived in Comfort, Tx. for over 30 years and have been coming to this restaurant for all 30+ of them. It's a family run restaurant and the food is wonderful. Possibly the best red salsa in the universe. If you're in a helluva rush don't come there right @ noon, they're swamped. I have been here before many years ago and always loved the place. I went back today and was overall not happy. The service was slow (they were not busy). My waitress was in no hurry to do anything. The food was ok. There was really no spice to it, at all. Then they overcharge me in the end. I was able to get the overcharge fixed but with the overall service, I will not be back. read more

We have been going to Los Jarritos for about 13-14 years and this food doesn't get any better. The service and down-home friendly treatment is grreat. Moved from the area about 4 years ago and now moved again --just glad we are within 45 miles now and can go back more often!! Saturday had Shrimp Quesadilla (get 1/2 order as it fills a huge platter!!! It is the BEST ever---husband had chalupa plate---and they are the best anywhere. ALL things on menu are great-----gorditas----puffy tacos----any dinner/lunch plate----and did I mention the hamburgers----WONDERFUL!!! These are hard working gals and guys and always take the time to greet everyone and will go to all lengths to please. OH++++the hot sauce can't be beat!!! All restaurants in South Texas should take a cooking course on the hot sauce alone!!! Bought some to take home even!!! Breatkfast tacos are the absolute best anywhere and huge!!!
