Come on I pay for tequila in my margarita....hope they get our order right this time.. Probably won't be back...disappointing. And we won't be back.. I ordered the steak burrito wow it was nothing but steak no onions no mushrooms no green peppers yet on the menu at states all of those are in there.. very disappointed that you have something on your menu That's not made with the menu says. Inviting coming into the establishment, The chips were cold, but they still crunched like fresh chips. I asked for the spicy sauce, for the chips and I received what I ask for and then some. As you will see in the picture, I-ordered the steak tacos and beans and rice. In a new place I always try the beans first, this tells me if I will what to expect. I know it sounds weird. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE: I went here twice, the first time the guacamole was so salty. We should have sent it back and never come back. I decided to give this place another chance. The veggie burrito that was described as "covered with melted cheddar cheese". It came with no cheese. The manager argued with me about the cheese. brought me a side of white soupy watered-down queso. I said I'll get something else so I tried the fish taco. So right off the bat I gotta say their chip game is really weak. The chips that came out with the salsa were stale and cold, and upon replacement were just warm and stale. My wife ordered a margarita that passed the test, but her veggie quesadilla simply contained peppers onions & tomatoes. Despite my misgivings, I ordered the Texas nachos. These were festooned with sautéed onions & peppers, sliced avocado and this watery queso. The meats on top were, however quite good, which leads me to believe this place might have good fajitas. Overall the menu is simple and unimaginative, and this place is LOUD. Like Chuck E. Cheese loud. The worst! We came here on a Tuesday night with 3 adults and 3 kids. We were told to sit anywhere. We had to get our own menus and our server came a total of TWO times the entire meal. Once to take our drink order and once to take our food order. No one ever came back. Our food came out wrong but we had waited so long already we didn't say anything. It's nice having an authentic Mexican joint downtown Greer! And Los Portales is in a great spot on Trade Street with a lot of other neighborhood restaurants. We sat outside on the patio as the sun was setting and it had a cool, friendly vibe. Inside is nice, too. There's a big bar and ample seating. The staff is super friendly and accomodating. The one thing that keeps me from giving them 5 stars is the menu still looks like the same fare that you see at the other Mexican joints around G'ville. There's nothing wrong with that, either. It's just that I was kinda hoping that you might see a few additions to make them stand out from the rest. Maybe some authentic tamales wrapped in corn husk or something like that. This restaurant has extremely poor customer service and the two employees that were working were not wearing their masks as required by state law. Regarding the customer service challenges, no one ever checked on us after we received our meals. Thus, there wasn't even any drink refills. Moreover, once we were finished eating it took over 30 minutes to even get the check. Very disappointing experience! read more

I appreciate the fact that their menu is stream lined and small. It is to the point with great options without having to flip through pages with TONS of options. Okay so the service may not be stellar but the food is pretty good. Thank god for the bussers because they kept us supplied with salsa and chips. The steak tacos were phenomenally simple. The meat was seasoned well and the jalapeño that accompanied the tacos was grilled and delicious. Stay away from the cheese dip- tasteless. Other than that- the tacos were good. My coworkers and I heard about this gem of a Mexican restaurant in downtown Greer so off we go! The parking is limited even at 11am during the week so put your walking shoes on. We were the only ones in the restaurant and the waitress seemed cold towards us. There seemed to be only the waitress and the cook. The lunch menu is very limited and if you order tacos, it does not include rice or beans. For $10 bucks, you would expect a side. The service was slow,the food is nothing to write home about and the parking is spotty. Not sure if we will try this restaurant again. read more

Food was good. Service not so great. Disappointed that I was charged 17$ for one small margarita because I ordered Milagro tequila in my drink. That is not a "top shelf" tequila and does not justify charging 17$. I will not return to this place. The first check that was brought to me was 70$ for one person. They brought me the wrong check. Save yourself the frustration. Service is horrible and the food is basic at best. Burritos come with nothing but meat wrapped in a tortilla with queso over the top. We had to seat ourselves, flag down someone for silverware, drink refills, and any then eventually even to pay our bill. Margaritas taste like lemonade. Not good. read more

I know that happens a lot of times at "foreign" restaurants, but it's an unwise business practice. Frustrated patrons tend not to return, and we probably won't either. There were only two tables occupied inside and about half of the tables outside were occupied, so they didn't seem too busy. First of all it took a really long time for anyone to acknowledge us. Then after they brought chips and salsa it took even longer for someone to come back to get our drink order. When I had a question about something on the menu he said I'll be back and took even longer to return. He didn't seem to understand anything I was saying. We eventually ordered and got our food. We ordered a chicken burrito that was dry and super salty and an enchilada that had no flavor. I went to dinner at Los Portales with two friends. An hour after we ordered we still hadn't seen our waitress or got our food. We finally managed to track down our waitress only to find out that she had never put in our order. We told her that several people had came after us and had already been served. We didn't get an apology, she just said that she'd have our food in five minutes. We waited another half hour and still didn't have our food. When we finally got our food it was dry and overcooked. My friend ordered a chicken burrito and that's all that was in it, chicken. It was nothing like listed on the menu. We ended up sending our food back because it was so bad. When we told the manager it wasn't edible he just smiled and said OK. He tried to charge us full price and finally took one meal off of the bill after we continued to complain. The salsa and cheese dip was very delicious, but for some reason to get our drinks took forever. When the main courses came out it was definitely not what was expected, the veggie burrito was very watery from the Romain lettuce, practically swimming and the meat burritos were just meat wrapped in a flour tortilla nothing else. Having lived in Houston for years, we are known as the Mexican food snobs where we live now. The food was delicious and fresh, the margaritas were probably the best ones we've had since we moved from Texas, the courtyard has plenty of ambience. The only reason I gave them 4 stars was because they can barely speak English which made it difficult to communicate what we wanted. Mistakes were made on our bill, but they made no effort to fix it, just nodded to our friends and told we should just work it, and none of the workers were wearing masks and there were no 6 ' distance between us and the other diners, but.... I agree with others in saying the service could be a bit better. However, the Mexican beer is cold, the food satisfying and their patio space is the cutest in Greer! The patio is colorful and inviting and it is the perfect place to toast a Corona and overload on chips and salsa. This place wins the award for favorite outdoor seating in Greer. Nestled between this restaurant and the building next door, the patio gets the perfect mixture of shade, sun, and breeze. The beer is cold and the food is above average for this genre. We enjoy the chips and salsa and continually get the standard Mexican entrees and always enjoy them. The service ranges from good to a bit slow (as other reviewers have noted) but that suits us just fine when we are relaxing and sipping drinks. read more

The service here was unbelievable. I will never be coming to this business again. My boyfriend and I were walking downtown deland and came across this place. The sign said they closed at 10pm, we walked in at 8:45pm. We sat outside and she came out and took our order maybe 15 minutes later. The food was good and the drinks were decent but wow so expensive! my avocado slice was $3.25 and not priced on the menu, I wonder why... & then we were rushed out! Worker came outside and said he's closing in 5 minutes and it was only 9:30pm? Ate there with my grandson. Love that they make the guacamole table side. Grilled shrimp appetizer was okay, more like a meal than an appetizer. However, grandson's shrimp burito was awful, like a hard brick --- the tortilla wrap was hard and dried out and fell apart when he tried to eat it. The cheese sauce was very bland, no flavor at all. He couldn't enjoy the shrimp inside because the tortilla wrap was so hard, tough to cut. My pork carnitas was very dissappointing; it wasn't crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, it was more like stewed pork. It too was very bland, no real authentic Mexican seasoning or flavors at all. The small flour tortillas that came with it was also were dry and tough. Did not eat them. It appears the flour tortillas are not freshly made or freshly steamed at all. The beans looked good, but was also very bland, no seasonings or flavor at all. Very dissatisfied and disappointed.
