If this restaurant were in the West, I would give it a Zero (not possible) or 1. But it isn't; it's in the Midwest where true Mexican food isn't known. We are from the West and wanted to try it out. We got there for an early dinner. The place has been open only a few weeks. It was clean and we were waited on immediately. The server was very patient and knowledgeable. I asked if they carried lengua or buche; no. There is no green chili anything on the menu. I asked for street tacos El Pastor; they were out. I ordered chicken enchiladas and husband ordered the closest thing he could find to a green chili burro (Dorado). The salsa was sweet with no tang. I did detect some cilantro in the salsa but that was it for spices for the rest of the meal. We doused our salsa with bottled green jalapeño sauce to give it some flavor. Our food arrived. The enchilada sauce tasted like a cross between enchilada sauce and ketchup. There was a lot of shredded chicken in the enchiladas. Husband said the burro was unremarkable. The rice was good, the refried beans needed salt and weren't cooked in lard. There were absolutely no spices in the food-missing were cumin, cilantro, chili, etc. Mexican food doesn't have to be hot, but it does typically have intense flavors to it. This was totally bland. Anyway, as I checked and and paid the bill, the cashier asked if I had enjoyed the food. I told her this was not typically the Mexican food we were used to in the West. She said that that was true, but what they served worked in the Midwest. And she's right. The restaurant has received a lot of good reviews on Yelp. Hopefully it will do well for the palates it serves. But if you're from the West/Southwest, you will be disappointed. read more

Great chips and margaritas, good enough tacos, and ok atmosphere. Avoid avoid avoid the tamales. We asked if they were homemade. I'm still not sure if they told the truth, but regardless the tamale we got came out covered in. I think some sort of like generic pasta sauce. They have Pepsi products, not Coke and I believe they have a full bar or close to it. I would avoid coming close to closing as if the place isn't busy the staff are definitely not focused. Well the chips were great. However the salsa was very plain and taste like tomato sauce and paste. DISGUSTING. The Mexican style steak tacos were fair at best. No flavor and covered in big chunks of onion and cilantro not chopped up. The men's restroom was dirty and was a one person room for that large of capacity. We stopped in today after watching a soccer game. My daughter ordered the Carne Asada street tacos and I got the chicken fajitas. She loved the tacos and said the meat was very tender. The fajitas were delicious, but the plate was so hot that the vegetables burned a little bit and I don't feel like there was enough chicken. The establishment is decorated very nicely and has good Mexican music playing. They have an outdoor patio area that I bought is super cute during the summertime. We went to Los Torinos last night for dinner. There was a wait but the tables cleared quickly and it was reasonable for a full dining room. For a new restaurant, open only a few days, the experience was better than expected. The food and drinks were delicious! There were a couple of hiccups which are to be expected any time a new restaurant opens. I have no doubt the kinks will work out as they get up to speed. Had high hopes that Los Toritos would be amazing by the photos we've seen online. We got there and ordered queso with our chips. The salsa was watery and pretty tasteless. Pros: For those who haven't experienced South Western Mexican restaurant fare the blandness may be good for youngsters and those who don't like spicy. The chimichanga cheese sauce-tasty, but thin. There was plenty of food, nicely presented and with good courteous service. Cons: The lack of seasoning, The salsa/dipping sauce- thin, more like taco sauce. The crowning under achievement was the chardonnay, normally a chilled wine, it was not room temperature, not warm, but was actually hot! Stopped in a day ago just to try their queso and was pleased by the quality. Had a late lunch today and throughly enjoyed my meal. Seating was quick, staff was friendly and checked in just as we needed a refill on drinks or chips. Food was delicious, not overly seasoned or spicy but not bland either. Even after eating my fill, I wanted to keep eating because it was so good. The indoor ac keeps it pleasantly cool, but not cold. The outdoor seating is spacious and well shaded. Good margaritas! The frozen strawberry was our favorite. The queso is also great. I wish the salsa had a little more heat! Very mild and a tiny bit sweet. Everyone finished their meal. I had the steak chimichanga which was good. Like many places, service is a little slow right now due to not having enough workers. We tried this restaurant for the first time and the food was delicious. There were 4 of us and neither of us had a bad meal. We all got margaritas and a pina colada. They were all big for mediums and also delicious. The only "con" I have is the server could have checked on us a little faster especially at the end when we were all waiting on boxes, but we were all talking and having a good time, so it really didn't bother us.... Went there today for their opening day, and by the number of people doing so, it is clear that Syracuse was ready for a Mexican restaurant! They have a large menu, so there's lots to choose from. Their street tacos are authentic Mexican tacos, served on corn tortillas, with generous portions of meat and cilantro and onions, but you can also get them supreme. They're very reasonably priced at $2.49 each. Though I did not have one, their margaritas were large and looked delicious on this hot day! Chips and salsa and drinks were kept up anytime they were empty. I also ordered pico de gallo, which was good. There was a little bit of chaos, as you would expect in the first hour of their opening day, but despite that, they did a pretty good job of keeping us taken care of. The dining area could use a little sound buffering, but there is plentiful seating. It will be nice not to have to drive to Warsaw for Mexican food, so we are really glad they're here! read more
