This little hole-in-the-wall is absolutely amazing! My boyfriend and I have officially found our new weekly date night spot. The food was incredible--the seafood pho was packed with flavor, and the Pad Thai was perfectly saucy (not dry at all, which is exactly how we like it). I could have easily eaten two dozen of the crab rangoons--they were unbelievably addicting! JC, our server, was the cherry on top. He was so kind, welcoming, and attentive, and truly made the experience even better. We're already looking forward to coming back and seeing him again. I visited on Sunday, Feb 1st, at 3:00 PM, and unfortunately, what was otherwise great food was ruined by horrible service. Our server (wearing a black Puma shirt and glasses) was rude from the start. When we asked for a booth, he literally rolled his eyes at us. He seemed annoyed that we didn't order everything at once and remained dismissive throughout the meal. After our pho arrived, he never checked back or refilled our waters. We waited 20 minutes for the check while he ignored us, so we eventually just went to the front to pay. It was a pretty good dish overall tho I ate majority of it. - I thought my mom's pho tasted pretty good but it she said it lacked flavor so to each their own. It wasn't bad at all! - I took off most points bc of the ambiance. I didn't like how the owner kept shouting at this high school employees to do this and that. It made them feel awkward and I could clearly see our server just being super awkward and not himself bc of it. He even told the server to tell us to move from big table to the small table just in case a party of 6+ comes in like I highly doubt that because they were literally about to close lol and there was plenty of open tables. New ownership. Beware! I'm all for small businesses but this is not the same. Quality of food was terrible. Customer service, terrible. Menu says Chicken Teryaki plate. They said they don't have teryaki sauce. Chicken lo mein is completely different (noodles, chicken, taste). Went to pick up order and I sat there for 10 extra minutes while my food was ready at window... It took me going up with my receipt and matching order numbers for me to get my food - they didn't even ask. New cook - everything was bad. We will order other rice dishes typically aside from pho and nothing is like the pictures anymore. We ordered orange chicken and sesame chicken and some spring rolls. Which were burned. The sesame and orange chicken were exactly the same, one was just including sesame seeds. There was no reading on the chicken either like typical. When we called to bring it to their attention, they argues when we're trying to bring it back to them and get a refund. They wanted us to call back at 8:30 to speak to someone else. I really don't understand the issue of returning the food and getting a refund, but they really didn't want to accept any fault and repeatedly telling me you have a new cook for some weeks now isn't going to change my mind. This place is experiencing some pains under new ownership. The last two times I ate there the food was not good. I have been eating at Lotus for many years so was really sad about this. Hoping they realize being open seven days a week with sub standard food is not as good as being open 5 or 6 days a week with good food. We came in because of the great reviews. It was quiet and only had 1 other customer, the place felt calm and relaxing. I'm not sure what happened but we ordered pho, shrimp rolls and egg rolls. The only thing that was tasty was the egg rolls. The shrimp rolls tasted fishy and had a hardened rice paper texture. Also, the peanut sauce was heavily salted. The pho, well the broth was way too sweet and it was cloudy like they didn't properly clean the bones before making the broth. It gave it a bloody taste. The rare beef meat tasted like it was pre boiled and had no taste. We couldn't even eat past the first two bites. We mentioned all of this to our server and were not even offered to get those items removed. They brought us the bill and we literally paid $40 for two tiny egg rolls, the only edible items of our order. This is definitely not authentic pho. If you are craving real pho...go somewhere else! read more

I have now also ordered the Chef's Special CH4 shredded pork skin, egg, grilled pork chop, rice, herbs, cucumbers, carrots, sauce (no lettuce or tomato, not sure why the menu says that). The pork is just like the pork in the spring rolls, delicious, and overall it was a good dish. I will continue to explore more of the Vietnamese side of their menu. I would not, however, order outside of that category again, if the pad thai was any indication. I don't mind if it's not 100% authentic, but it really was just kind of lackluster with very little to it but meat and noodles and a rather unmemorable sauce. I still give them 4 stars, no question. I love the pho from here. Our real only complain is the large pho comes with the same one meatball cut into four pieces. For the price you could at least double the meatball portion and not be such a cheapskate. That irritates me more than anything getting a bigger more expensive size yet the food portion is the same size as the smaller one. We used two same size bowls and one was a large pho and other was a regular pho both orders filled the bowl exactly the same. Explain that science to me. read more

I was not disappointed Lotus Café was very good the food was great. Lotus is a really Asian Fusion restaurant which means they have all kinds of Asian food not just pho. Service was very good at lunch time. The place was full but there was still a few tables available. Seat yourself with table service. Very casual place. I will be sure to come back to Lotus Café. I got the regular size pho which is plenty big enough. You will be full if you finish it all. If you had pho before you know it comes with different meat combos. I had the 3 types of meat. We started with some spring rolls and they were very good. The price was very fair and portion were also good. They are a fusion restaurant so you can choose from Chinese food to Japanese's, Korean, and Vietnamese's. And probably some other types but I do not know them all. I ordered meat lover combo pho and I got two thin slices of beef and 3 slices of brisket and 1 meat ball cut in thirds. Disappointing if you ask me for $11 for the pho. Staff was friendly at the counter. Milk tea was strong which is ok. Means I can add more milk at home!! Noodles were not very good. Sweet and accommodating staff really make Lotus Cafe a bright star in Arlington. Vietnamese restaurants are easy to come by in Arlington but it's not always as easy to find kind staff members who come back to your table to check on you. I don't typically require refills so I don't care about this as much as others but it's just nice to know I'm wanted in a restaurant. The brisket pho was good and my mom loved the grilled pork vermicelli bowl. We shared shrimp spring rolls and they were good also.
