This place is Uncle and Aunty approved! Brought my parents here because theyre vegetarian right now, and they were very impressed by the attention to detail used in these dishes! They offer a variety dishes with a vegetarian twist, with textures and flavors quite similar to our familiar Chinese cuisine favorites. It was quite nice to find this restaurant quite busy on a Monday , and staff were really friendly! They would love to be back again

We came at the Chinese new year day for the dinner , be honestly the food is ok but a bit pricey, but they were vegetables dishes , but I will go back to try other dishes since the food is not bad

An authentic Chinese vegetarian spot that truly hits the mark. We ordered a few simple dishes, and everything was delicious with generous portions. The Singaporean fried vermicelli had great wok hei and perfectly balanced flavours. The congee was a highlight, silky-smooth and comforting, featuring tender minced plant-based "beef" and crunchy bits of savoury pickled mustard greens. Every spoonful was rich, hearty, and full of nostalgic flavours that reminded me of comforting childhood meals I've missed for a long time. The steamed veggie dumplings were also satisfying, generously filled and nicely wrapped. Everything here is thoughtfully made vegetarian-friendly. Service was warm and friendly, and the atmosphere has a traditional Chinese charm. Excellent value for both quality and portion size , I'll definitely be back!

I'm a big fan of Chinese vegetarian food--it's some of the best vegetarian cuisine in my opinion. My friend and I came here for dinner, and as always, it didn't disappoint. I've dined here many times, and the food is consistently great, with fast service and a packed dining room. We had tea, hot and sour soup, lettuce cups with vegetarian duck, and mixed noodles with vegetarian meat--all delicious.

Apparently, this place has been here for quite awhile and I'm so glad I finally tried it! We had a friend who's vegetarian visiting from out of town, and wanted to show them Chinese inspired dishes that he could still eat. We were impressed by how expansive the menu is! So many vegetarian options whereas most restaurants really have limited choices. I would recommend the crispy fried noodle (looks like Cantonese chow mein), and the stuffed tofu with broccoli. The flavours were a bit on the salty side, but good nonetheless! Service was alright, but we mainly came here for the vegetarian options. Although it is located at the back of the plaza, the inside is quite spacious and could fit a big group dining out.

WOW! Just WOW! My mind is blown away by my experience at Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant. Who knew vegetarian eating can be so tasty? I came here twice, once for takeout and the other for dim sum. Both experiences were wonderful! For the takeout, the portion size was HUGE. What was super surprising for me was that the food was not super oily, even though it was deep fried, and it was super salty. Honestly, I felt too healthy eating it, and it's not because it's vegetarian. I came back again for dim sum, because my friend is vegan and super health conscious. My friend had an AMAZING time and was completely shocked that you can have so many choices with vegetarian food. I ordered the mock suckling pig just for fun, since I saw photos of it. I loved the intricate details of the dish, down to the mock fat on the supposed pig--WOW! I also loved how well the dish held together. I didn't even feel like I was missing the meat at all. For the dim sum, I do not recommend getting the hargow or suimai; they are cute for the photos, but does not taste that good. I recommend getting the veggie dim sum, especially the rice noodles, they are so full of veggies! Plus, the cost for each dim sum dish is about $4.50, $4.99, $5.50--super affordable! Although the decor of the restaurant is more on the dated side and the ladies waiting on the tables are a bit slow, the food made the experience worth it. I look forward to coming back again to try more dishes!!

First time going to an all vegetarian restaurant! I would say 3.5 is probably a more accurate rating. We ordered a few dishes to share including the gluten plate, mock sesame chicken, noodles and bacon wrapped ham. Most of the dishes were pretty good, especially enjoyed the gluten and mock chicken and was surprised that the texture was similar to real meat! Overall, it was a decent experience though we felt like the dishes were pretty expensive for what they were and the service was okay. Location was at the back of a plaza. Not sure if I'd return, but not a bad choice if you're looking for a Chinese vegetarian restaurant.

I love this restaurant. The dishes I've tried so far are so good and full of flavor. It's one of those places you see more Chinese people which makes me think the food is original and good quality. The place is spacious. The service is attentive and friendly. Among my favorites are sesame mock chicken and stuffed tofu.

Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant is a true gem especially for Vegetarian Chinese cuisine. Crispy Noodles with Mock Meat & Veggies: It really tasted like the classic chow mein. The sauce had the right texture & wasn't too runny or salty. The noodles were really crispy and the mock meat tasted pretty close to regular meat. The seasoning for the mock meat was tasty that you wouldn't realize it's not actual meat. Rating: 8/10 Stir-Fried Noodles with Mock Meat: Exactly like the real thing! There really wasn't much of a difference especially with the meat. Seriously super filling and so much room for leftovers. Rating: 9/10 Hot Sweet and Sour Soup: Wasn't too spicy and right amount of sourness. This was the perfect appetizer to go with the rest of the main entrees. Especially during cold weather, it's the perfect soup to have. Rating: 8.5/10 Mock Spare Ribs & Veggies: The seasoning was amazing and nothing like I had before. it's a pretty good veggie alternative for spare ribs, although the texture is different it was quite interesting to eat. The sauce had similar flavours to actual spare ribs which really impressed me. Probably one of my favourites out of all four dishes. rating: 9/10 Overall, the service was fast & staff were friendly! The prices were quite reasonable and the portions were huge. There's a lot of big tables so this would be a perfect spot if you happen to have a big group. I highly recommend checking it out for both meat lovers & vegetarian folks!

First review for the new year (for New Year and Lunar New Year)! Glad things are opening back up so I decided to have a healthy vegeterian dinner here. Let me start with the food. It came relatively quick and the portions are good size. Ordered the Mock Shark Fin to start. It was good but a little plain for me. I like mushrooms so I still enjoyed it overall. The Sweet and Sour dish's flavour (specifically the sauce) is similar to other places I've tried. So if you like sweet and sour anything, I recommend this. Now the real star for me is the tofu. The size and taste is spectacular. There's veggie stuffing inside which is a nice touch. For the rice, rice is rice as Jokoy said. For the restaurant itself, they have a lot of tables and it wasn't too busy when I went. Got a table pretty quickly. The staff is very attentive. They gave the menu and came over as soon as I'm ready to order. Only downside was they forgot the napkins and tea. Plus the pencil to write what to order wasn't even sharpened. But overall a minor inconvenience. Overall I enjoyed my visit here and recommend to keep this in your list if you ever decide to be vegetarian. If you're already vegetarian, I'm sure you heard of this place.

Scarborough staple! It's been around for many years. There are many options available at Lotus! Most of the dishes are very traditional. There are many dim sum options during lunch. From fresh dumplings, lotus leaf sticky rice, to steam rice rolls; everything is vegetarian or vegan.

Still such a good spot!! Updating my review for their takeout specifically! Their dishes are as good as ever! The stir fried noodle with vegetable satay chicken cube (dried style) was so good, it tasted like real meat! I love the crunchiness of the noodles with the sauce. We also got their chefs special crispy stuffed tofu with black bean sauce, which was filled with so many goodies. The yeng yong fried rice is still one of my favourite dishes, it's fried rice with half cream sauce and half tomato sauce. We got the small assorted gluten which is always a staple for Chinese vegetarian eats. I found that their portions for take out is a bit smaller than in person, but still pretty worth it!

    Not a bad deal

Came for dad's bday from his request. I'm not a typical veggie guy. This place is old as it's been around for many years. Parking was difficult too. We ordered a variety of dishes that mimick real meat dishes. In general the styles were boring and flavours were all over the place. Some dishes were too salty and some had no flavour. Oh and the peanut dam dam noodles were super watery. Strange. Sorry , but I wouldn't recommend this place. Even though the bill came to around 100bux, still I think there are better options out there for veggie.

New Century will feed a large group. Their lobster, Dungeness crab, and sea bass combo for eight…read more($798) would satisfy ten or twelve. The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.

Parking still sucks, lol. As someone who isn't a huge fan of dim sum or the traditional dim sum tea, I was really happy to see that they now offer HK Style Milk Tea as well as various flavours of slushie and bubble tea offerings. As a milk tea lover, this alone would make me choose this place over another. :) The restaurant itself is quite spacious. When you enter, it's the front counter and a take out shelf (with LOTS of people ordering take out). There is a dining room to the left and to the right. I like that the tables are generously spaced apart, unlike some other dim sum places. Food wise, it's pretty decent, like any other dim sum place. I wouldn't say that it's anything special and no dish really stood out to me. We were a larger group so we ordered 2-3 rounds of stuff, and sometimes would just ask the server to add on a dish for us. I don't know if this was confusing for them or what because a lot of our dishes didn't end up coming. Of course, dishes that didn't come were not charged. The bill itself is a little confusing but they are happy to explain it to you. They've retained the same staff for decades who remember their customers. The food: 4.5/5 for the har-gao, generously stuffed with beautiful, fresh shrimps. Extremely delicious. Wrapper was ever so slightly thick, -05 star. 5/5 for the char-sieu cheung fan. Pork was surprisingly lean which added to the deliciousness. 5/5 for the huge "wonton" in soup, stuffed with octopus, conpoy, pork and mussels. A DELICIOUS SURPRISE. 1,000/5 for my favourite menu item the curry cuttlefish. Tender, not over-steamed, light curry flavour. Sublime. How I love Tak Fu. It warm, it's welcoming, it's loud, it's laughter, it's the sound of happiness! Reminds me of the restaurants in Kowloon.

Tak Fu even prices things the old-school way (by dish, no specials) with categories ranging from…read more$5.99 (S) to $9.99 (SP). Tea's a humble $1.50 a person, softening the blow of slightly higher food prices. So, what's so special about Tak Fu? Start with the siu mai or steamed pork dumpling ($7.99). Most places pulverize the pork into springy meatballs. Not here. The pork is hand-chopped, juicy, and tender, breaking apart easily with each bite. Finely diced mushrooms add a hit of umami, while a plump shrimp crowns the top instead of being hidden inside - simple, balanced, and traditional. Then there's the har gow or De fu steamed shrimp dumpling ($8.99). The shrimp are properly cleaned and not over-tenderized, keeping their natural flavour and crunch. They're cooked just right, encased in a slightly thick but satisfyingly elastic wrapper. The steamed bean curd roll with satay sauce ($7.99) is dense and hearty... half a roll will do. Its filling leans pork-and-cabbage heavy, more like a spring roll in taste, so it's not as exciting flavour-wise but still comforting. For a contrast, the steamed rice noodle roll with fried dough in special style ($7.99). The hot, crunchy fritter wrapped in silky rice noodle is spot-on texturally, though the hoisin and sesame sauces could be thicker. Maybe they're thinned out for easier pouring? The steamed rice noodle roll with BBQ pork ($7.99) is stuffed to the gills with big chunks of meat and nothing else. Pair any rice roll with the congee with preserved egg and pork ($8.99) and you've got a hearty solo meal. The pork's properly seasoned, the preserved egg plentiful, and the texture rich and smooth. For something lighter, go for the dried scallop & seafood dumpling in soup ($8.99). It takes time, but arrives piping hot with a massive dumpling stuffed with shrimp, octopus, scallop, mushrooms, and BBQ pork - generous and satisfying. The deep-fried squid ($9.99) might just be the best I've had: crisp, tender, and barely battered. There's also plenty of it to go around. Say what you will, Tak Fu doesn't skimp on portions. Even their fried rice noodle with beef ($13.99) impresses. Sliced beef, bean sprouts, and onions get a good kiss of wok hay, and those caramelized onion bits add a hit of flavour. A solid, classic version. If you can wait half an hour, end with the steamed milk ($7.99) for dessert. Lightly sweet, perfumed with ginger, it's a silky, nostalgic treat you won't find in many places anymore.
