We had them out to inspect our chimneys and advise us on work to be done. We had an idea of the work and quotes from other inspectors and we wanted to get a second opinion. They gave us their estimate and showed us pictures of what the inside of the chimney looked like to explain what needed to be done. They were honest about what really needed work and what could be put off for a while. They even got rid of a dead squirrel we found in the chimney access for us while they were there. When they came back out to do the chimney liner we contracted for, they were fast and the work area was clean when they left. I was very impressed with Lou Curley's Chimney Service's qualifications and the website made it easy to request service and detail work needed to be done. Other web sites had similar ease of requesting service and giving details but they didn't seem to be as dedicated to chimney work as Lou Curley's Chimney Service. They seemed more jack of all trades. I requested services / estimates from these as well, but Lou Curley's Chimney Service was the only one to respond. This was during the lock down for Covid 19 and I was told no one would come out until things were safer. A few weeks went by and people came out and assessed my 3rd floor chimney from outside without needing to come in my house and I was given an estimate by Email and when I replied asking them to do the work I got a call and was told when some good weather came along they would be up on my steeped pitch 3rd floor roof to repoint the chimney and patch some cracks on the crown and coat it with a penetrating 2coats of Crown Saver water repellant which could be done in one day. I asked them to take before and after pictures so I could see the problems and the solution. We had some windy and rainy weather but about 24 days later I got a call to tell me they were on their way and they may need access to a hose for water when they got here. They arrived within a few hours and were hard at work on my chimney and got it done within a few hours on a hot day. The pictures showed a very thorough job on the repointing and weatherizing of my chimney. I was very happy to have this issue well taken care of for a very reasonable cost by friendly and professional workers. I picked Lou Curley's Chimney Service because they had awesome reviews. They showed up on time and payment was easy. We just bought a new house and noticed a leak in the ceiling right in front of the chimney. I asked them to come out and inspect the chimney to see if that was causing the leak. We also had a back drafting issue that was noted on the inspection. They said the water leak probably wasn't from the chimney and they didn't know what was causing the back drafting. We have a contractor out today fixing a different cement issue and they found a 6 inch crack going down the side of the chimney that's most likely causing the water leak right in front of the chimney. They also didn't tell me much about the wood burning stove. They couldn't find the model number and didn't know how to use the controls. With all the expenses of a new house I wish I would have saved my money on this one. read more

I chose Lou Curley's Chimney Service when I sold my house in Conshohocken. It was necessary to have a certified assessment before closing, which I found out only days before settlement. Unlike the local company I'd used over the years for regular maintenance, Lou accommodated my schedule in order to make this happen in time. He did a thorough inspection of the chimney from top to bottom (from the basement and the roof). I wish I'd thought to call his service for the regular maintenance over the years, but Drexel Hill seemed a bit far from Conshy to be worth his time. We called Lou Curley's service since our hot water heater repair guy stated that we needed a chimney sweep due to some gases emitting as it turned on. The guys tested it (apparently it is fine when just a few minutes) and took a look at our chimney, took pictures and showed me that we didn't really need a sweep. They recommended a cap and fixing the way the pipes were set-up. I truly appreciate the honesty of the guys that came out. They could have totally charged me for an unnecessary sweep and perhaps the additional recommendations, but they really wanted to help us fix the issue at hand. I'd highly recommend them to others.
