Flooring - good selection of materials and styles. We chose a rustic wide plank laminate for our "old English " kitchen. Flooring was delivered on time. The installer was knowledgeable and efficient. He also worked with us to achieve a seamless transition to the dining floor. Installed paper barrier that prevents squeaks. As is my way, I pre-prepared the subfloor by recessing all fasteners and floor sanding the subfloor for a flat surface. Installation was quick and product has proved durable. read more

We really appreciated the time and effort they put into our carpets. We had very loose carpets that needed some cleaning. Josh and his team did a great job putting in time and effort to make them look new. They arrived 10 mins early ready to work and even helped us move the last 2 things out of the room that we were working on. We had gotten our carpets cleaned once before and they were just left drenched and dirtier then before but this was a total 180 from that experience. The price we got quoted was even better than some of their competitors. They made quick work finishing everything in less than 4 hours total and left the house spotless. All the reviews are 100% right - Lou's Floor is the best. We just moved to the South Bay and wanted to get new kitchen countertops for our rental unit. I called and got bids from several places. Since this was my first time doing any sort of remodeling or house renovations, I wanted to be absolutely sure we go with the right people because I've heard horror stories. If you don't want to read my novel about the ins and outs of praising Lou's Floor for their work - just stop here and give them a call because you will be in good hands!!! But if you'd like to understand why, please read on :-) Josh came out and provided an in person estimate and right off the bat - I liked his energy and vibe. He was not pushy, provided great suggestions on placement and possible design ideas, and was not sales-y at all which I appreciated. Because of that, I asked him if he could also give me an estimate on the floors for my actual house. We needed our floors redone and while we were thinking we could DIY it ourselves... we knew we were handy, but just not THAT good to tackle flooring, especially since we were on a tight time frame since we had to move our things in. Josh provided 2 quotes - one for our kitchen and one for the floors. The concrete pad for our new ADU was poured incorrectly and wasn't level. We also had a problem with the uneven transitions from the tile in the bathroom to the vinyl flooring. The contractor tried to have his guys fix it and made a bigger mess so I called Josh of Lou's and they came to our rescue. They leveled the floor as much as was possible and our transitions are now flat. Thanks to Chris and Jose for their hard work! Due to circumstances, neither of us were able to visit Lou's showroom to select carpeting, so Josh Ripouli was graciously willing to bring samples to us. After discovering what was thought to be a standard toilet seal leak, it was discovered that some fairly catastrophic damage had been done to the subfloor in most of the bathroom area . First, don't be confused about the name of Lou's business. Yes, they do floors, but they do so much more! I found Lou on Yelp when I as looking for a contractor for my small bathroom with a tiny shower that was showing signs of major water damage. I have a 1923 beach cottage, so finding someone who could do a "remodel" (oh, how I hate that word when I love my house the way it is!) that fit the style of the house and my budget was a challenge. From the moment I met Lou and we started talking through the possibilities, I knew I'd found the right person for the job. He even agreed to jump on it right away to have it done quickly before the holidays. As a novice to remodeling (there, I said it again), I was scared to death. I couldn't picture the outcome, and though Lou walked me through every step of the way and every decision, it was tough to just trust that the new bathroom would come out perfectly and that it would look like it belonged to MY house--not like an ugly and generic Lego piece pulled from an awful McMansion. I wanted to share this remodeling experience we've had with a couple of local contractor company's. We recently had our downstairs bathroom vanity replaced. Our old one was the original one when this townhouse was built. The doors wouldn't close. We had several bids and decided to go down to Lou's Floor Covering on 8th street in San Pedro. Don't let the name fool you. They do everything. We had an estimate done and went down to their store to look at design and material. Lou's bid was a reasonably priced. He used several tradesmen to complete the job. A labor to do the demo. A plumber to change the piping to relocate the sink, a cabinet maker who made and painted and installed this amazing vanity and the guys who installed the counter top and sealed it perfectly. As you can see the difference is night and day. They were punctual, stayed in touch to determine the timeline that worked for us. The vanity that the cabinet maker built is made of sold maple, no particle boards or imitation material. Soft close doors, even the bottom drawer which I love. So much more space. I hired Lou's to replace & relace about 30 floor planks that were damaged in my kitchen. The area is located in a corner of my kitchen cabinet and peninsula, so the job was going to be a bit complicated because the planks under the cabinet can't be removed. Lou's workers arrived on time, and with proper PPE (masks). They did an outstanding job of removing the damaged planks, getting up the glue and in about 4 hours they had the new planks installed. Now the floor is looking beautiful and new again....like the damage never happened! Thank you Josh and Lou's flooring for restoring my beautiful floor and for restoring my faith in contractors. He met all of his commitments and actually finished early. He was able to put new flooring throughout my 1200 sf home and do a complete kitchen remodel in a little over 3 weeks. Bonus for me is that it was completed just before our COVID-19 stay at home orders so I have been able to revel in my new beautiful kitchen and new floors while isolated! I keep telling my friends (appropriately social distanced, of course) how much I love my new kitchen, giving them tours via facetime and zoom. They are appropriately impressed. When we decided to complete the remodel of our home there was no question who we would call..... Lou's Floor Covering was the only choice! We had our Master Bath finished (tub and shower combo redone) carpeting removed from upstairs and our beautiful laminate continued throughout the upstairs. We also had remote control shades put over our sliders in the dining room and the upstairs office. As happened before, Lou's did a wonderful job. Lou, Josh and Louis were there to address all my concerns, respond to my calls or texts and they also helped me make great choices as to which products to use for the bathroom and the stairs. The tile on our shower is beautiful and my husband loves the powerful fixtures. I love the carpeting up the stairs as this is a high traffic area and this carpet does not show dirt! The work was completed in a timely manner. All the workers who showed up were on time, fairly neat and did a good job. If I had any concerns, Lou or Josh addressed them immediately. The people at Lou's Floor covering made re-carpeting my house easy. They let me look through all sorts of samples and price ranges until I found something I could afford and that I liked. Then they came and took measurements for my house. They helped me decide which rooms to carpet. I was able to decide when they should do the main area and when they could come back and do the bedrooms. The people who came were courteous, and prompt, they cleaned up everything, I really liked that I didn't have to dispose of the old carpet and carpet padding. Lou's flooring, and Josh specifically, helped us re-carpet 5 bedrooms in our new home. Josh did an in home consultation to determine the amount of carpet needed, and was clearly knowledgable about flooring and overall home remodeling. We had extremely bad creaks in our sub-floors. Josh was honest they couldn't 100% resolve it, but in the end we got to 90% resolved, which we were very happy with. We also had large dips from the tile hallways to the cement sub-floor in each of the rooms, these were also resolved greatly, so we have less of a strange ramp effect. My only feedback was that less expensive carpet options aren't on prominent display in their shop. We had seen DreamWeaver (which was started by the same original owner as Mohawk) at another shop, and it was about $3K less than comparable carpets from Mohawk or Shaw. Lou's still had it available, and was able to price match, but if we hadn't shopped around a bit, we may have ended up paying a lot more. Overall, we still wanted to make sure we went with Lou's for installation sake. We we were much more confident in their expertise and Josh's oversight, and in the end the install was flawless. We have a square grid patterned carpet, which was installed evenly and straight across enormous rooms. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lou's flooring or use them again. read more

So...if you are looking for an outstanding flooring company, Lou's is it. You will be delighted on every level -- so rare in the trades. They installed laminate flooring in my new office. I spent two long months getting estimates from several companies and could not believe how unprofessional, slick, condescending (yes, many men in the trades are misogynistic; my apologies to the ones who are not), snippy, full of attitude, and very annoyed and even aggressive when I asked questions about things that did not make sense to me -- that I later learned did NOT make sense or were outright lies. Some of them had a formulaic way of installing, not taking into account that every job is different and often has weird areas that require special care. Follow-through was absolutely terrible with regard to getting the estimate, returning calls, etc. I was kept waiting weeks with one company and the only reason I tolerated that was because it was the guy who had installed the hardwoods in our home years ago. He does good work, but his business practices and communication are deplorable -- I'd forgotten that about him until I was faced with it again. What a waste of time. Enter Lou's Floors in San Pedro. Finally, I thought to ask our amazing roofing company for a referral because their standard of excellence is high, so I knew they would only send me the best. From the beginning, it felt great.
