I remember watching skate videos filmed in Love Park when I was young, so I was surprised how small the park was when I finally visited. It looked so big on tv, but it's only one square block. The main attraction is the LOVE sculpture. Yes - I took a few photos. I mean, you didn't really visit Philly without taking a photo of the Love sculpture, right? There's also a fountain, some green space, a flower garden, ping pong table and small visitor's center at your convenience. It's an awesome oasis in the middle of downtown. The perfect place to sit down and relax before getting back to the hustle and bustle.
I stopped into Love Park on an early Thursday morning to check out the iconic Love Statue. We got to the park around 6:45 AM. There was no one there (except for a few homeless people) so we were able to get photos with the statue without issue. While we were there, we noticed there was a Portal set up. I've only seen them on the internet so it was really cool to see in real life. We watched people in real time from a few different countries around the world. We didn't explore the park extensively so I cannot speak on the park in its entirety. But from the small part we did explore, it was great. Not far from the street and easy to find!
Did you really visit Philly if you didn't get a picture in front of the Love sign at Love Park? Nerrrpppp! Seriously, this park is iconic! I've been to Philly twice and both times I had to solidify my trip with a visit and a picture. You can find it downtown right across from City Hall. It's a few blocks from Reading Terminal Market, China Town, and the city's convention center, amongst many other things. Both times I went in the morning and there was a small line, which is great when it comes to having someone available to take a picture for you.There's also additional art in the area to admire. I'll also add that both times there was a lot of construction going on. A telltale sign of how important it is to the city, and it's tourism. I highly suggest paying it a visit if you're in the area. Mark this famous monument off your bucket list!
I just saw one of the LOVE sculptures at the Museum of the Arts in New Orleans, but I'm a sucker for LOVE so I had to go to the iconic LOVE sculpture in Philly also. This installment is lifted so the public is welcome to take photos below the LOVE. I was alone and I was able to trade photo-taking with some strangers. Would love to come back with someone someday to take a proper LOVE picture. Nevertheless an easy FREE visit, so definitely a must see must visit must take that photo while visiting Philly.
While on a mini vacay in Philly on 08/26/2023 & doing some exploring/sightseeing in the downtown area, my hubby & I made a quick stop at Love Park to snap a pic w/ the super cool & very popular "LOVE" sign. Since sharing is caring, here are a few of my FYIs & helpful tips if you do decide to visit Love Park - - I wouldn't recommend making a trip solely to Love Park since taking a pic w/ the LOVE sign & walking around the surrounding area only took about 30 mins or so BUT I would add it to your itinerary while also visiting Dilworth Park and City Hall, which are both located a few blocks away from Love Park and are both so picturesque w/ the architecture of the surrounding buildings and the cool splash pad & open space w/ plenty of outdoor seating & food trucks at Dilworth Park. We visited on a Saturday late afternoon around 6:30pm & there we're plenty of people just hanging out, enjoying the awesome weather. We actually walked from Reading Terminal Market before heading to City Hall, Dilworth Park, and then Love Park. - Safety: I have to admit that I was a little hesitant about Love Park because of some of the previous reviews left mentioning lots of homeless people & drugs but during our visit (on a Saturday around 6:30pm) yes, there were a few homeless folks that we saw BUT they were actually in the minority because there were way more tourists hanging out & snapping pics. No one bothered or came up to my hubby & I while we were walking around the downtown area. With Love Park being located downtown, it's to be expected to come across a few people that might seem shady so my advice is to make sure that you are aware of your surroundings & if you feel uncomfortable, leave the area. Even though the LOVE sculpture here at this park is smaller than some of the other ones around the world, I still enjoy stopping here whenever I visit Philly. Love Park is also known as John F. Kennedy Plaza and is across the street from Philadelphia City Hall. The park itself was created in 1965 by Edmund Bacon (father of actor Kevin Bacon) with the LOVE sculpture being placed here in 1976 for the United States Bicentennial celebration. You can actually stand underneath this sculpture for a photo. Love Park also has a large fountain and several tables for eating. LOVE was created by American artist Robert Indiana during the pop art movement in 1964. He created it for a Christmas card for the Museum of Modern Art. It was so popular that he had the first aluminum LOVE sculpture made in 1970. These sculptures can now be found all over the world. Love park was once a popular spot for the skateboard community before skating was outlawed. Some X-Games skate competitions took place near here back in the early 2000's. I remember seeing skaters riding at this park back when I first visited here. Despite my love for this park, I feel it has lost some of its character since they banned skateboarding.
I went and visited this park in the later afternoon on a Thursday night. There didn't happen to be anything going on or any events, it appeared that the park was actually going some renovations/updates. But, with all that said there were still many people cycling through (tourist groups, runners, passers by etc). The location for this park is perfect for viewing the beautiful architecture that surrounds it. At night it's really nice because you can take in all the city lights. I definitely plan to go back again in the warmer months to enjoy some Philly festivities.
Tourist attraction in the center of downtown Philly...on the list of things to see while in town. Love sign on one side of the small park and I Love Philly at the other side... good to take quick photos with. The Amor sign is at the Sisters Park a couple blocks away so stop there as well. The Love Sculpture is smaller than it appears in pictures...there is a bigger one by the university...but further out. There's a line to take pictures but it goes fast. would definitely recommend staying around the area and walking to as there is little park around there and street parking will cost a bit. It was fun for a quick stroll on a hot weekend.
Had some time to kill before my flight left Philadelphia so decided to make my way back to central Philly just to take a snap with the famous L*O*V*E sign. For some reason I thought it was going to be much bigger than what I imagined it to be. Nevertheless, it was still fun to be able to get creative with poses. As the other reviewer mentioned, there are some pretty suspicious people roaming the park offering to take your pictures for you so be warned. My daughter and I decided to take turns taking each other's pictures until a couple of young Swedish ladies offered to take our picture together if we took theirs. The park itself is pretty basic and offers seating throughout. There is parking to the side if you want to just quickly take a snap and run like we did! I'm giving it a 4 only because some people can be sketch!
Right next to City Hall. A fun park to get a photo at with the Love sign and the rest of Philadelphia behind you. When we went around noon there wasn't a line for photos or anything. No homeless people either. Just us, a few tourists and lots of pics being taken. Fun spot for photos. read more

Can't go wrong with this cool area of downtown! Yes, it has the famous Love sculpture, but there are also other art pieces, a small LOVE visitors center, fountains, seating areas, walking paths, and some green spaces. Worth a stop if you are near city hall. read more

Visited LOVE park on a recent trip to the city because they were having a Christmas market and if there's one thing I love around the holidays it's a Christmas market. With being a US passport only holder, I like others am trapped here in the states and can't experience a euro Christmas market so I suppose this is the next best thing. Beggers can't be choosers right? I picked up a couple of really pretty hand blown glass ornaments for my grandma and me. I decided I might as well visit the LOVE sign but I'll admit I've seen these before in other cities so it's nothing mind blowing for me. I really prefer the AMOR sign to the LOVE sign and I stayed near another xoxo sign and if there's one thing I'm not it's an xoxo type of girl so I didn't bother even taking a pic of this one. Visited the infamous LOVE park yesterday. Based on previous reviews and vlogs, we decided to get their early to avoid the long line to take pictures. The piece itself was nice. There were some very aggressive people there that were quick to take your phone from you and snap your picture; then beg for a tip.... That was extremely annoying. Other than the CONSTANT panhandling, it was a nice sight to see. Definitely a one time only experience for me! read more

Welp... not really much to see here?! Just a random red sign that says "Love" that all of the tourists like to flock to and take pictures with. The actual park is really more of a parklet that it's sandwiched between city streets and skyscraper buildings within the Penn Center. When I finally reached this park I was like... "That's it's?!". It's hella tiny with nothing really to see. A couple of tables and benches here and there, the view of the busy city streets but... das it. Das ALL. It feels like more of a rest stop for people who work or live in the area. You know, like a place that you'd take your lunch or a quick little afternoon break. If you ARE interested in taking some picture of the famous "love" sign, get ready to wait in line for your photo session. Everybody and they mama wants a picture with this sign. I mean, I get it... it's kinda cute. But, do they not know that there are several other credible landmarks within the area that are way more deserving of their pictures?! They probably didn't, but they do now. Honestly, it may be worth a visit if you're already in the area. However, I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this park. There are too many other great landmarks that was way more deserving of your time. read more
Great place to visit and see the art work. There are tons of art pieces there. Easy walking and exploring. There are places to sit and waste time as well. You can take great pictures also. Love Park is a must see in philly. read more

Can't resist saying "Love is all you need"! On numerous occasions my family has visited the Love Park. I didn't realize it was on Yelp until my Yelp Friend Evan posted to the page recently. I take every opportunity to show off my photos and reminisce about previous adventures in a Yelp review. My daughter ran the Philadelphia Marathon. I had the best time in Philadelphia the whole weekend. I ran around to all the sites. I always heard that Philadelphia is the city of Brotherly Love, I had to see the sculpture. It's a must see every visit. I always thought this sculpture was exclusive to Philadelphia. I have since learned many cities have one. We have ours in NYC. It's on Yelp too! It's great. I don't have to wait to go to Philadelphia to enjoy it. You're Welcome. read more
I really cant hate on a place called Love Park!! Its very touristy. Love park is located across from city hall in downtown Philly. Its a place that host many events. I was there for The Christmas Village and it was packed to capacity. Love Park is a great place to check out. The Philly trademark Love sign makes for a great photo op!! read more

Statue is much smaller than I was expecting, but glad we checked that box in Philly. The park is nice--there was a concert going on while we were there with people from every walk of life enjoying it. We visited in July and every kid in the park was cooling off in the fountain. read more
We were meeting a friend outside Philadelphia City Hall (https://www.yelp.com/biz/city-hall-philadelphia). On our way to City Hall, we happened to pass through Love Park, an urban park that takes up one city block adjacent to City Hall. It's nice. When we visited around 7:40pm on a Sunday, it was clean, spacious, and not crowded. There was a big "I [heart] Philly" sign with City Hall serving as the ideal backdrop. It was perfect for tourists like us to take a picture with. This place isn't called Love Park because of that sign though. The park got its name from the popular red-colored "Love" sculpture on the other side of the park, closer to City Hall. This is the same Love sculpture that's on display in other cities like London, New York, and San Francisco. The original sculpture is inside the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Unlike other cities, Philly's Love sculpture is propped up high so you can stand and pose for a shot underneath it (as opposed to in front or beside it). The park serves as the southern endpoint for Benjamin Franklin Parkway (https://www.yelp.com/biz/ben-franklin-parkway-philadelphia), a wide one-mile-long street worth walking if you've never been to Philly before. If you look north (technically, northwest) up the parkway, you can see Logan Square (https://www.yelp.com/biz/logan-circle-philadelphia-2) and the Philadelphia Museum of Art (https://www.yelp.com/biz/philadelphia-museum-of-art-philadelphia) with its famous Rocky Steps (https://www.yelp.com/biz/rocky-steps-philadelphia). It's a cool visual. The park must have been renovated relatively recently because pictures I've seen of it on Yelp show a fountain which no longer exists. Instead, there's now a big splash pad. Dilworth Park (https://www.yelp.com/biz/dilworth-park-philadelphia-9), one block over, has one too. Kids were having a blast in both. Around Love Park's splash pad are several red lounge chairs. A nearby gravel space has umbrella-covered red tables with additional seating including tree-shaded benches. There's a lot of green space, but perhaps almost equally, a lot of concrete, gravel, and brick. The trees and benches in the brickyard on the southeast end of the square are nice touches. A modern-looking glass building on the northeast side serves as an entrance/exit to an underground parking garage. This park is also known as John F Kennedy Plaza. The park's official name is actually John F. Kennedy Plaza. It was designed by Edmund Bacon, a city planner and father of actor Kevin Bacon, which opened in 1965. The name "Love Park" stems from the infamous "LOVE" sculpture that was placed in the park in 1976 to commemorate our county's bicentennial. The artist was Robert Indiana (1928-2018) who first debuted the now infamous stacked letters of "LO" on top of the "VE" in 1965 on a Christmas card for the Museum of Modern Art. The design also graced an 8-cent USPS stamp. EXPERIENCE: While the park has official hours, it's never closed off as it's a wide-open city block, so you can take pics with the "LOVE" sign at any time. There are benches, tables & chairs, water fountains and artificial turf. A food truck was parked near the seating area, which was a pizza truck when we were there (business rotate). They also offer free board games and even hold wedding ceremonies. During the day, the park was full of energy. At night it quiets down and surprisingly wasn't shady at all. We got great pics with the LOVE sign both day and night. There's also a "I heart Philly" sign opposite of the LOVE sign by the fountain. OVERALL: Great photo ops and totally free to see! read more
It's been a long time since I visited this park. The old park was so layered and interesting that I was really surprised to see the new design. It's very bland and lifeless. Nothing interesting going on. Just the love sign and a small fountain behind it. From the other reviews it sounds like there are things that go on here, but it really doesn't feel like a park to me anymore... concrete pad with a small fountain. I'm rather disappointed. read more
Love Park, named after Robert Indiana's iconic LOVE statue, can be found in downtown. It is a small structure but still makes for a great photo while you are playing tourist in the city of brotherly love. Also currently there is the I heart Philly structure, that is on the opposite side of this LOVE sculpture (by the fountain). Also makes for a great keepsake photo for your travels and memories. One thing that I did find interesting about this park, is that twice a month, on Wednesdays, you can get married at the LOVE sculpture. The fee is very cheap and makes for a very special ceremony. However, only 12 couples are able to sign up each month for this special wedded bliss. Being in this part of Philly has plenty of other great art installations/ structures worth checking out and makes for some photo worthy moments. read more

Not my first time in Philly but for whatever reason never have come across this park? The park itself is a decent space where u can walk around , relax & take pics not a bad area to sit & enjoy a few moments. Nice enough that u can relax & take in the sites. Happy that not a lot of bums / druggies around this park at least none that I notice seems like the city itself is having a bit of a problem with that , sad to see hopefully the city can get some sort of hold on that crisis, this park for the most part was a nice walk through. read more
