I grew up in San Diego and have some knowledge of the city but Laura and Carlee really brought it together and added their "green" touch to the event. These are the most important things- for me-, but there are many more, that GWE provided: *Support with design, table layout and overall look and feel of the event. *Amazing ability to manage a project professionally but also bringing a true sense of calm to an overwhelming process. *Extensive knowledge of wedding etiquette, vendor relations, negotiations, overall event production and coordination and of course, reducing the impact of any event on the environment. *Day-of coordination and everything that lead up to that including timing of deliveries, managing the final details of contracts, and the chronology of the wedding day. There was also a lot of people-wrangling that was done with ease. The venue was unique to say the least, and GWE's team never batted an eye handling all the bumps and idiosyncrasies. We could not have done it without them and I would hire them again and again for any event in the future both here in Washington, DC or San Diego.

As the wedding got closer, we worked with another member of her team who was going to be the day of coordinator. Her and Alex worked together well, but we could really see the difference. Many of the final details took a long time to get right and we should have raised the red flag there. When the wedding came, the seating cards were incorrect and not what was agreed to. They also failed to double check we had all the tables set out for the reception, we were one short which caused a decent size disruption. The name cards Alex's team printed also spelled the grooms name wrong, the team didn't leave out the guest book and even more. You count on companies like these to really nail the details and it did not work out for us. We suggest couples take caution if they work with other members of Alex's team.

I heard from both the bride's and groom's families that they were unhappy with her services and her behavior. Any question asked was met with rude responses. It is clear her and her team cannot manage large multi day events. I saw her behavior for myself on more than on instance and will not recommend her to anyone else. It is one thing to be organized and be assertive but arrogant and rude in this line of work is totally uncalled for.

I interviewed two planners, and I knew I wanted Vicky right away because I was confident that she could get the job done. She didn't want to be my best friend--she wanted to help us achieve the wedding of our dreams while staying under budget. When we were deciding on what services we wanted her to take care of, she showed us this very detailed list of services, kind of like an a la carte menu. We wanted to keep our wedding planner services at $3000 I think, and so we basically picked and chose which things we wanted her to do. SO SIMPLE. No negotiating necessary. After that, she made it feel like our wedding was the only wedding she was working on. Such attention to detail, with a balance of her suggestions and getting our input so that it would still be our wedding. She was honest and straightforward about what she thought were bad ideas, which made us trust in the things that she was excited about and thought were great ideas. Vicky just has so much experience that--really--every little tiny detail was taken care of, so that on the day of our wedding, all we had to do was get our hair and makeup done and show up at the wedding. Our wedding venue, while beautiful, was a little sparse in terms of lighting and decor (before and…read moreafter photos attached). I had a general vision and some various inspiration images of the look that I wanted, but no clear direction. I reached out to Paul for a general quote, and instead of just giving me a price for what I had in mind, he asked to schedule a walk-through of the venue first so he could thoroughly check out the electrical capabilities, existing house lights and controls, and even the direction of the sun to understand all of the variables and options that the space would allow. He asked questions and made suggestions that I never would've thought of. He then put together a very transparent quote that stuck to our desired budget, and he was flexible and reachable whenever I had questions or wanted to make adjustments. He showed up extra early on our wedding day to make sure all lighting was strung up and appropriately placed before other vendors arrived so he would have time to make adjustments to aim lights on the alter, buffet, cake, and DJ. When we walked into our venue I actually gasped because it was even more stunning than I had imagined, and he even added some additional lighting to liven up the dance floor that made it so much more fun. We had a ton of candles and flowers on the tables and he adjusted the color temperature and the uplighting to perfectly complement everything - our guests came up to us all night to tell us how stunning the venue looked. He stuck around throughout the entire wedding to adjust controls, brightness and color temperature to account for daylight levels and activity. All in all, Paul was a pleasure to work with, respected our budget, and was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, communicative and creative.
