There's a real dirty, good old fashioned rock vibe about the place and it's somewhere where you can go to chat to the staff and the regulars, since many people who frequent there really have made their own little scene of it. I think the pub itself is pretty cool, it's relaxed and there's no pretensions at The Fighting Cocks at all. I love the late 80s / early 90s rock vibe and the neighborly feel of the place. The venue is host to many of the rock / hardcore bands of the local scene. The venue is situated behind the bar and has it's own little vibe where you can stand or sit and watch bands and share a drink. Although there's nothing wrong with this place, it's a little out of the way for me. Unless my friends are down there or I'm in Kingston shopping or meeting someone, then there's no real reason for me to go there really. There are lots of even better little music venues in central London. A one-off is fine, but perhaps not somewhere to go especially to have a drink...

However, the security guard at the front door didn't want to let us in because he thought we were too drunk. This was far from the truth and was proven by the fact that a few minutes later one of his colleagues let us in finally without any problems. We ordered two beers that we wanted to drink in peace whilst listening to good music. This couldn't happen due to the first doorman showed up. He abused us verbally and physically, shouted at us, was aggressive and incomprehensibly angry. He intentionally poured our drinks on the floor and on us, smashed the glasses. I normally don't write reviews like this and I worked in hospitality too. I don't agree that the customer is always right. But I've never experienced such rudeness. I've never experienced someone abusing their perceived 'power' like this. I've never felt so humiliated in a venue. We were absolutely harmless, didn't hurt or provoke anyone, just wanted to drink our drinks we paid for. We were shocked by this situation and other people around us didn't get this either. It was absolutely unnecessary and unacceptable. We may not have been sympathetic to him for any reason but this can't be an excuse for his horrible behaviour, we were paying guests. I also can imagine he was unwilling to let us in close to closing time (11 PM ish) even though we had no intention of sleeping there. We just wanted to spend a pleasant night in a good place and traveled a lot for it. Instead we had awful time there. There's no way I would recommend this place after what happened and I only hope there will be consequences because it says a lot about the management how they handle this. I'd prefer not to give a single star but the site doesn't let me send my review without it. There are way better places in London for those people who love rock and metal music.

Start at the very beginning and you'll encounter an impressive array of Roman and Saxon artefacts. Move closer to modern times and there is an abundance of fascinating and diverse items. I enjoyed being transported to the early 20th century, as I gazed at the very chic uniform belonging to the Thames Watermen, who were 'licensed to row' and ran a similar service - across the river - to today's road-based taxis. I was curious to discover early laundry equipment and to find-out about the ladies of the tub, as the local washer-women became known when they went on strike in 1827. Here, I also spied an adorable model of famous little Nipper- the HMV dog - who was a Kingston resident. As you climb the stairs, there are some beautiful paintings belonging to the Brill Collection, owned by the Council, portraying appealing local settings and buildings. Then onto the temporary exhibition Until May 31st, it's a must-see, especially for children and anyone wanting to return to their childhood. Entitled There's Magic in the Nursery! there are stunning 19th century illustrations by Walter Crane, Randolph Caldecott and Kate Greenaway. A perfect opportunity to recollect and reminisce with all your favourite nursery rhymes and to enjoy them with a new generation. Lots of free workshops, drawing and storytelling events accompany the exhibition - ensure you book in advance, as they're proving very popular. Adult entry to the museum is £1.

Located just behind the Grey Horse pub it's quite an intimate Sunday night comedy venue. That could be code for avoiding the front row if you don't want to get picked-on! Resident MC Barry Castagnola is entertaining and quickly puts you at ease and in the right frame of mind for the line-up that follows. International stand-ups appear here from household names to newbies. The crowd are friendly, although there is the occasional drunken heckle, it's unlikely to ruin your evening. There's a good choice of drinks, and some snacks, to enjoy as you chortle and the entry price won't break the piggy bank.

I love seeing people getting picked on during stand ups, I am not going to lie lol. However I hate to get picked on so I made a smart moove and sat in the middle of the audience for who ever is performing, not to see me lol. I had a great time at Ram Jam and I absolutely and definitely recommend this comedy club to anyone who would like to experience some evil and angry fun. When I say evil and angry I do not mean gothic in any way. I mean it as in brutal honesty. Pro's: Good laugh, typical comed club, fun, extremely good prices Con's: Bad air conditioning

I went with my boyfriend on Sunday evening and, despite the trek to get to Syon Lane train station from East London, we weren't disappointed. The weather that day was miserable due to a deluge of rain, so we were optimistic that it would clear up by the time we arrived. Mercifully, the weather cleared up and this likely deterred massive crowds on the evening as an added benefit! Getting to Syon Park from Syon Lane station isn't too tricky- you simply have to follow the crowd. There are also detailed instructions on the website to find the pedestrian gates. We unfortunately had trouble getting back to the station as the gate we came through was locked at 17:30 and we had to take a massive detour around the parking lot. The trains only seem to run every 40 minutes back to Waterloo, so we had to catch a bus back to Hammersmith and get on the tube from there. Aside from the difficulties getting home, the Enchanted Woodland is a wonderful attraction that is worth such inconveniences. We arrived around 17:30 and spent over an hour wandering through the park and admiring the view- the trees are lit up in an array of blues, reds, greens and purples and hidden smoke machines fill the air with an ominous layer of fog. There are hidden mythical creatures and animals in the landscape and a few laser shows that seemed to entertain children in particular. You follow a meandering trail through the park, then come across an illuminated stately home and a picturesque conservatory, which hosts some impressive cacti. There is a café at the end of the trail that sells a great selection of hot and cold food, espresso coffees, hot chocolate and a delectable selection of mince pies, cakes and squares. There is also a food market set up outside that offered hamburgers and hot food from the grill. There were plenty of families and pushchairs on the night we were there, but we were able to space ourselves out adequately and it didn't feel too cramped. Due to the weather earlier on, there was some mud and puddles along the path, so I would advise wellies if you visit on a wet day. I would admittedly have liked to attend an 'adult-only' night of the Enchanted Woodland, as the echoes of screaming children were ubiquitous and it was difficult to see some of the sights due to large families clustering and fussing, but there were plenty of couples there as well. I strongly recommend visiting the Enchanted Woodland if you get the chance- it's only open over a few weekends every year (late November/ early December) and is the perfect activity in the lead up to Christmas. We will definitely try to visit again next year and mark it as an annual tradition.
