Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. We locked ourselves out of our flat. If you don't need a key to lock the door behind you, it could easily happen. There we were, being very silly as a result of some weird wine we drank, wandering through town to get some juice for the next morning. We didn't even realise that we hadn't brought keys until we got to our street. Thank God we made friends with our next door neighbour, who buzzed us into the building, offered us a wire hanger to try and pry open our door through the letterbox, and let us hang out in her flat until the locksmith arrived. One phone call, 30 minutes, and £65 later, we were back in the comforts of our home. While he basically shimmied open our door using what I believe was a piece of cardboard in 2 minutes, I was happy to part with my only remaining cash in exchange for access into my own flat. A little concerned about how easy it was for him to break in though.... read more

First impression - great. Quick call out following a burglary. But that didn't last long. They were required to send a set of the new keys to the landlord - turns out they lost those keys which meant they had to come back out. So I booked a time that was convenient well in advance only for them to show up 1.5 hours late without giving me any notice that they were running late. Totally unacceptable and would not recommend. read more

£432 to replace a Yale lock! Shared personal information without my permission. I spoke to Chris who quoted me £49 for callout & Labour and a replacement lock would start at £20. Chris told me he was a job in Balham and he attend my property next. This is what I agreed to. However, without my permission he contracted my job to Itcc locksmiths who prceeded to charge £432! My permission was not given nor requested to share my personal information, including address. Which is a breach of the data protection act Uk 2018. The locksmith who attended my property did not advise me that he was from a different company nor did he advise me that the prices where more than my initial agreed quote with Chris. This work was carried out by someone I was not made aware of nor did I know the price he was charging. My tenant paid the invoice without consulting me because she was also none the wiser that the locksmith who attended was not Chris and the price was substantially more than what I had agreed to. Chris and ITCC have not returned my calls. read more

Please do not use, total rip off. The job done was really poor. I phoned the company to complain, the locksmith then phoned me back and demanded more money to fix his rubbish job. When i refused he was really rude and hung up the phone! I felt really scared. Also he charged me £240 for one single lock, far more than any price quoted on their website, and almost three times the quote on the phone an hour earlier. They have not responded to my email complaint. I wrote an honest review but they did not put it on their website. That's why their website is showing 5 star reviews, hand picked and made up! This is how they get away with ripping innocent people off. I will also be writing to Trading Standards. read more

I called them on Jan 30th at 9.30am to come and deal with my door on Battersea Park Road. I told them that the door was jamming and that the tenants were struggling to open and close it. They sent a locksmith (Glen) around to fix it an hour or so later. One of the tenants was in the flat. Glen removed the face plate from the chubb lock, redirected the screws inward through the wood, tightened up the yale lock and left. I received a call from the tenants that evening telling me that when they got home from work, they attempted to lock the door by using the chubb and only managed to turn the key half way in the lock. It got stuck- they couldn't turn it either way and couldn't remove the key. They were locked in. This had never happened before Lowcosting Locksmiths had visited. I called Lowcosting Locksmiths and told them about the problem as soon as I heard (approx 9pm the same day). They said they would call the tenant and see if he could talk them through how to open it before sending someone out. They did call the tenant, they couldn't talk them through how to open it, and they told him that they couldn't get anyone there until 7.30am. This was too late- one of my tenants had to leave for work at 6am and regardless of that, I was not prepared to leave three tenants in the house all night with no escape route should a fire break out. Lowcosting Locksmiths didn't seem concerned about this in the slightest. I called them back and asked them to send someone out this evening; to which he (the owner?) replied "My locksmith hasn't touched the chubb" "Your tenant didn't seem too concerned about us getting there at 7.30am" "Nothing we did to that door has caused this to happen" "Your tenant is lying to you, my guy hasn't touched that chubb" before hanging up the phone on me. I then received a text on my mobile from Glen, the locksmith himself asking me to text him back and tell him what had happened. I called him and explained the situation. He replied with "So- you're telling me that they can't turn the key, how did they turn it half way then?" He agreed that he had removed the faceplate from the chubb lock and redirected the nails into the door. (Contrary to what his boss told me) He told me he had done what my tenant had asked and told me that it would have done no good to the door as the door needed changing (none of which he had relayed to my tenant that morning- he had given him the impression that the door was fit for purpose) I was left with no choice but to call another locksmith who was with us in 30 minutes and managed to unlock the door. He was astounded that the locksmith who had visited that morning hadn't sanded the door down (which was required to stop it jamming; my initial reason for calling locksmith) and was also baffled at the fact that they wouldn't come out to fix their mistake when it was so clearly the cause of the tenants being locked in. I received three texts from Glen that evening; telling me that he did what my tenant had asked him to do (rather than what he knew was required) and to stop "guessing what you're talking about" " i wasn't going to sand down the door free of charge" (free of charge?) "we are the biggest locksmith company in London" " I will leave you to your drink" (???) "I removed the face plate on the bottom lock, which doesn't affect anything whatsoever, only appearance" (why did you remove it then?) Never again! read more

Made an appointment to get locks fitted on doors, agreed a date, time, price. Would not send me photos of the lock that he was going to fit on the doors despite me sending at least 5 messages requesting to see photos. Did not show up on the day. Could not get him on the mobile or office phone number. Call goes straight to voicemail after two rings (probably declined to answer my call). No call. No texts. Nothing. Completely wasted my time. Unacceptable. Unprofessional. Unresponsive. Will not recommend. Use at your own risk. read more

Rough Trader and a Con company. The company website clearly said, the cost of the unlocking and replacing the lock was £78, including VAT and when I spoke to the staff they gave me the same price. But they charged us £154, which was double the rate that was originally agreed. So I called their office, when I told the staff that I will expose them via Internet reviews, he swore at me using abusive languages. For your own Good, just stay away from this Rough Trader. Very likely they operate in lot of dodgy names. So be very cautious. read more

Worst company I have ever used. On the website it says 65 pounds to sort out a lock out and promises to beat any quote by 10% so I phoned said I was locked out and they said someone would be with me in 15 minutes. 30 minutes.later a young guy turned up tried to slip the door which didn't work and so he used a bar through the letter box. He was there for all of 5 minutes. Before he started I asked for a price which he kept dodging and asked how much I'd been quoted. When I said I hadn't been quoted he decided he would tell me a price once he had finished. I didn't really get a choice. He decided to charge me 150 when he didn't replace anything just let me in. This company is a complete rip off and ignores emails of complaint do not use unless you want to be seriously out of pocket. read more

I booked to have a garage door locking mechanism replaced and was quoted between £70 and £80. I was advised by the locksmith he would be at the garage for 10:10, however as I arrived at the garage he then informed me he wouldn't be with me until 11:00. He finally arrived at 11:40. On trying the lock he decided to drill the lock out, but once he had done this he returned to his van and realised he didn't have the replacement the lock in his van. He drove away leaving me stuck at my unlocked garage and returned nearly two hours later with the lock. After all this was replaced he then told me the price would be £168 more than double the initial quote. After sitting in the sun for over 4 hours waiting for the job to be finished I questioned the price and decided to call the office on Monday and question this further. To summarise I was charged £70 for a locking mechanism that costs £14.99 and £70 in labour. I contacted the number on the website and was spoken to very rudely and eventually was told I would receive a call back regarding my query and the phone was put down. The call was made on Monday, I'm still awaiting a return of call on Thursday. In my opinion not the best of service, or the most reasonable of price especially as I was quoted a price and then charged more than double. read more

After coming home from holiday to find I had been burgled and my door swinging open and in a bad way I called Croydon Police station to report the crime and was given the number of this company, two of there guys were there in under an hour and secured the door overnight. The following morning they returned and fitted a new door and frame and some high security locks and london bars, I would like to say this was a terrible experience one that I would never want to repeat but thanks to Low Cost Locksmiths my ordeal was made simple and easy all from one phone call, myself and my family cannot thank your company enough for what you did for us in the early hours of the morning and your number will certainly by be put up in the golf club where I am chairman and given to all our family and friends, very many thanks, Maurice Truscott. read more

This is the worst experience I ever had!! Do not trust their offer of a package deal!! I requested for £99 deal for 2 lock replacement. The locksmith turned up to change 1 simple cylinder lock, charged £65 and indicated that he will return to change the 2nd more complicated and expensive 5 lever lock at another appiointed date, but he not only never turn up on the appointed date but he has not return call. Trying to reach him by calling the central line 0800 011 2121 you will get response saying that they will contact the locksmith and get him to return the call...after 6 calls to the central line in the next 2 weeks, the only messgae they can deliver is it's not our responsiblity to ensure that the locksmith will return your call. Please never again use this locksmith service unless you want to be frustrated and cheated!! read more

Locksmiths was great. After moving into a new building we needed a locksmith to come out to the property as soon as possible, especially as our neighbors had recently been broken into several times previous and very keen not to run into this problem. We need locks installed that would make the property secure as possible. He was great; advised us of the best options available and sorted us out with a great deal. Also giving us a 3 year warranty with the locks which is fantastic. The gentlemen was very polite and well presented, he installed 2 brand new digital locks and several other locks aswell. Thanks a lot for a great job I would defiantly use these guys again and would recommend them to anyone who needs a good clean and reliable locksmith. Once again thank you. read more

I had a great experience with Low-costing Locksmiths. The locksmith had arrived within 30 minuets of calling, locksmith was very polite and professional. The locksmith (Dave) was very friendly and talked me through the all the options available to me, and what would benefit me the most. I found that the service given was expectational, (Dave) locksmith was very helpful and managed to get me inside my house within ten minuets. I paid the price quoted over the phone, and found when searching for a Locksmith in my local area originally that the price I had paid was the lowest in the area. I would highly recommend this company, service was quick and professional. And the locksmith are highly qualified and know what they're are doing!!!! read more

Partner spoke with Chris and booked in on advance (no fee according to website). Gary arrived, had 2 locks replaced. Neither was the price quoted on the website and was charged £49 (unfortunately was unaware it should have been free if booked in advance). Locks were vastly inflated compared to website prices too. Had to bank transfer to Gary. Gary's invoice didn't contain a VAT number and looks like the company was struck off from companies house in 2013. Garuntee on invoice was 3 years instead of 5 as advertised... not sure I'd be confident even getting 3. Waited 4 weeks to post this as wanted to give them the opportunity to return the £49. Unfortunately they've now started ignoring. Have also reported to trading standards. read more

I would just like to say a quick thanks to all the guys at low costing, I have been a managing agent for 18 blocks of flats in Battersea and Clapham for the last 14 years and had low costing as my locksmiths for the last ten years, Chris, Phil and Becky have never failed me in arranging a locksmith on a same same day short notice basis or for any pre booked work. The locksmiths they have sent me over the years, Mario, Dave and Gary are all very courteous and well turned out in company uniforms and nice new sign written vans, which has always inspired me with confidence when using there services. Many thanks guys and long may our excellent working relationship continue. Trevor Beer (Managing Agent) read more

Really happy with the work carried out the engineer was great and did a great job of it all. Had recently just moved into a new property were all the locks are a bit dodgy and old fashion so really needed to replace and upgrade the previous locks to meet the insurance standards. Needed several locks replacing all over the house including window locks as well, the guy was great he replaced many locks and gave me a great price overall. Really appreciate the locksmiths work he carried out, his work was above and beyond. He really helped me out by giving me a free security survey as I was not entirely sure what work needed to be carried out at the property. read more

After having been victim of a burglary last night I called these people, I have to say the chap Matthew was a very polite and consoling individual, he explained that his company attended these sort of emergencies all the time and that all my locks would be changed with the minimum of fuss. This was very much the case, this was done very efficiently and I was provided with a full insurance breakdown receipt when he had finished. I have now booked in for Monday morning to have a complete over hall of my household security with this company. Would gladly recommend them. Billy Jackman read more
