They have a…read morecommercial on tv, so one would think they had a good reputation for helping persons with SSD claims. I initially filed in person with them in Jan 2026 (with Juan) and signed an almost 26 page packet with the Law Clerk, containing medical health authorization forms, so they could request my medical records from the only two (2) places where I had records. They filed the initial online form which established the official case ID # with the SSA in Feb 2026 and I received a letter from the SSA establishing Markis Law Firm as my "Representative". I assumed that they were processing all forms, uploading and gathering of medical information that I signed authorizations for. But three (3) months later in "early" May 2026, I received a call from a Social Security Rep advising me that they were STILL WAITING for the upload of the "representative package" (the lawyers packet). The same day, I immediately emailed one of two of the ONLY names that I knew to contact Juan & Lisa informing them of this. No call from this office called me regarding this until the last week of May. Lisa rambled saying they lost the password, they couldn't get back into my file online saying they needed the BIG BAR CODE from the activities & workday package that I still had not received from the SSA yet, mainly because the SSA was still waiting on Markis Law Firm to upload that "representative package". My thing is, the call was unprofessional and if the law firm directly opened the case online, they had full access to continue working on my case, so they were not completing what they needed to complete as the "Representative". June 2026 comes, one back and forward email from Lisa. Constant leaving voicemails on the SSA extension line waiting for them to reply to my initial calls. Early July 2026, I send an email to three personnel at this Law Firm, Juan, Lisa and Marcy inquiring if anyone actually working on this case because there is NO good communication period with anyone but yet they would be quick to grab the 25% settlement fee (up to $9,000) if the SSA issued a claim approval. Then suddenly, July 13th, 2026, I get a response back from someone named Belen Mancill. Belen, (Belinda Mancill) a name I've never heard of before in the seven (7) months since this was started. She put in the email, an unacceptable response (literally this is regarding the delays) , saying that "intake did a mistake BC of my 2 last names." But this law firm has been in business for years and I know that I am not or cannot be the only client that has used the legal name on my ID and SSA card showing my full first, middle and last name (which is a legal combination of my maiden last name plus hyphenated last name). Then July 18th, 2026 comes and I get the DENIED SSA letter in the mail and I email Belen (aka Belinda) and let her know that the letter came and the SSA Case was DENIED (closed). I expressed my frustration with going back and forward with the SSA but really my biggest frustration is with Markis Law Firm and I will be submitting form SSA-1696-SUP1 (which is the official form to REMOVE any "representative" assigned to the SSA Disability Case) via certified mail immediately.

I told him that I had been dealing with a narcissist that had been gaslighting me for years. When I told him about something I had done, he replied "Well, that was just stupid ". He was also very condescending, short and down right rude to me. He was always cutting me off. On top of that, the day that someone from his firm was supposed to be at my house for an inventory, no one showed up. When I called his office they had no explanation. My soon to be ex-husband contacted his attorney and she told my husband that Greg told her that "Kristina doesn't give a f$$k". I spent over $6,500 to get treated that way and only a month's worth of representation (if you can call it that!)

They were in no hurry to settle the case early. Some employees are honest and ethical, and some incredibly dishonest and unethical. The main attorney is critical, cursed at me, and told me "you are not likable". The main attorney has a pattern of suing his clients for overbilled fees. The main attorney made claims my case was costly and complex because he had to communicate with my forensic accountant often. He did not. I had a contract with my forensic accountant, communicated myself with her, and asked her not to call their law office. The forensic accountant only creates a report and submits it; no need for expensive calls.

What should have been fairly simple, took 9 -10 months and resulted in me switching legal representation a few weeks before my court date. I'll make this short and sweet. +++Attorney was not aggressively seeking to complete the case. +++The Bryant Law firm is not adequately or competently staffed ++++++The Bryant Law firm is overwhelmed with cases and it shows in the quality of work +++Communication is sub-par, YOU will have to follow up and will be charged for it. After about 4 or 5 months into the process, I sent emails stating, "Why is this taking so long?". She would put it off on opposing counsel not responding to emails/voicemails. Once I informed The Bryant Law firm (in month 9) that I was switching legal representation, it took her another month to update my balance statement and return my retainer. Once I got the retainer, I go through charges. I noticed that it appeared that she was billing me at a higher rate due to her legal assistant either quitting or being terminated sometime in October 2018. Mmm.. did some comparisons and yup. Definitely billing me at a higher rate. She never mentioned the change in staffing! Makes sense, from a money making prospective. Why mention you're about to charge more when you dont have to? In her contract the legal aid fee is $100 per hour and her attorney fee is $250 per hour. Between March 1, 2018 through October 8, 2018, all emails were based off the legal assistant $100 per hour rate. Between October 9, 2018 through December 11, 2018 the rate was increased to $250 per hour. Looks like The Bryant Law firm was passing the administrative/paralegal cost of not being adequately staff onto their clients? As a consumer, do you think that's fair? Not necessary "illegal" but a courtesy email would've been nice. Nevertheless, I was not made aware of the staff changes that would result in an significant increase in cost for services that a legal assistant had been fulfilling. I felt that it would have been fair to have been notified of the cost increase prior and not upon receiving my statements OR billed me at the legal assistant rate. At least that which would have allowed me to make any necessary financial decisions at that time. I felt like she pretty much nickled and dimed an extra $1000 by doing the work of a legal assistant before returning the retainer. She told me that it took the legal assistant "All day" to find a mediator. Are you kidding me?! I switched to a new law office December 11, 2018. They were able to complete EVERYTHING in 30 days. Paperwork, Mediation, etc, etc. 30 days! The frustrating part is, we started March 1, 2018. So what took 286 days from The Bryant Law firm, took 30 days from another. You do the math. This was just my experience. Perhaps I wasn't knowledgeable enough about the inter workings of the law office? Nevertheless I would not recommend The Bryant Law firm to anyone. Especially if this is your first legal experience.
