She had been feral at one point, and I was fostering her. I called the shelter and long story short, an army of volunteers tramped all over Olive and Riverbend for three long days and no luck. Every time she was sited, she would run! Finally her shelter, Five Acres (also tremendous people) called Lost Paws Trapping in. They set up the cage and a camera. The cage has a sensor on it that sends an alert to the Lost Paws team when the trap door closes. Well, it worked! Within 14 hours of it being set up she was FOUND and home safe. She is back with her loving family!!

This seemed to please all in my family immensely - kids got to snuggle, name and chase four incredibly cute chicks, mom had all-needed supplies provided for by The Easy Chicken so it was fool-proof and simple, and dad (again, since this was a temporary rental) didn't have to consider permanent housing arrangements and care for animals that none of us were ready to commit to long term. It was perfect. And what a fantastic family business! Seth and Maria and their overly courteous and cute kiddos have created a company that StLouis can truly be proud of - super impressive quality and customer service, the Jansens haven't overlooked a single detail as they've brought chickens to our backyards. They will teach you, in a very hands-on and personalized way, how to care for chickens, and will provide everything you need, all at once. It's so easy to get up and running, it was almost unbelievable. We enjoyed a chicken rental for the summer and fall while we learned how to be savvy chicken caretakers. Then as our rental time period wound down, we took advantage of another great offering - the Watch Them Grow experience, which provided 4 precious baby chicks, brooder, food, book, supplies, heat lamp - everything we needed to raise our own baby chicks. Whereas we had the option to return the chicks once they became adolescents, we kept them and they are our champion egg layers now! The Easy Chicken makes it so, well, easy to get into this fantastically rewarding hobby. I can't say enough about their friendliness and ease of contact. They are so responsive with any questions or issues. If you have even considered backyard chickens, give a chicken rental a go and see how you like it - you will not regret it!
