I realize they only reopened recently but wanted to give it a try based on reviews and press coverage. I rate Lubbies a low 4 . Here's my breakdown: Appearance/Decor Pros: Very clean, bright and nicely decorated. The choice of colors and patterns is a nice break for the typical stark interiors with exposed ceilings and dark, natural furnishings. It was also very clean. Thank you for keeping the terrazzo fllors! Cons: Menu boards were empty. Only one paper 81/2 x 11 menu to pass between waiting patrons. BTW, no online menu. The menu dedicates a lot of space to sandwiches which seems odd since I expect a bagel shop to be primarily breakfast and brunch. Very limited choice of grab and go beverages. Service Service is very friendly and accommodating almost to a fault. The couple in front of me accepted and indulged in trying several creme cheese samples. That's nice, and unique, but you lost focus on the growing line behind the couple you were serving. Who needs a sample of a creme cheese anyway? The person prepping orders to go was also very nice. Food I applaud Lubbies for offering a pumpernickel bagel. It had a nice chew. Woudl have been nice if toasted as requested. This bagel was ordered with fig, honey and walnut spread. Not digging this. It was not well mixed with some bites being really sweet and others having too much fig which felt gritty. I cannot recommend the fig, honey and walnut. Second bagel was an everything with chive spread. The bagel had a nice chew and flavor but some of the onion topping was burnt. It was toasted perfectly and the chive spread had a good, but not overpowering onion flavor. They still need some work on the operations. 1. Have 2 people take orders when there is a line of people waiting. Use technology to your advantage. 2. The bagel wrapping with the order ticket and extra tape seem nice, but really slows down the process and is wasteful. She was very nice and obviously take pride in here work though. 3. Menus, menus, menus. Please more paper menus if not using the menu boards. 4. You explain a lot to customers about your hand-crafted product. Put it on the menu for people to read. Take credit for it and share the uniqueness. 5. Appears to be a lot of space in the back kitchen and a lot happening up front with toasting, spreading and coffee. Very crowded and 5 people seem to be working against each other. I think Lubbies is a nice neighborhood place, but still needs some adjustments to improve the flow and develop a positive experience. read more

The bagel has that crisp outside, but soft chewy inside that a bagel should have. The bacon is real bacon and crispy. The jalapeño cream cheese is full of flavor. And the cheese was perfectly melty. My only wish was that there were more onions on the bagel, but it could have just been the one I got. They also made a great iced latte. I will be back to try the salt and garlic bagels! read more

HIDDEN GEM ALERT!!! The entire staff is soooo nice and take so much pride in what they do. They will also make any of their hot sandwiches cold upon request. The Chicken Salad sandwich with fresh dill, apricot, lettuce and tomato and the Chicken Caprese sandwich with fresh mozzarella, tomato jam and basil pesto were insane! Lubbies catered a coed baby shower brunch for us. They prepared egg casseroles, noodle kugels, assorted bagels, and cream cheeses, vegetable tray and fruit platter. Great atmosphere, great bagels, great schmear! Staff is great as well. Their menu is small, but exact what you'd want from a specialty bagel shop! Their cold brew is fantastic too! On a weekend after 9am expect a 30-45min line; not for a lack of organization but just so many people visiting! Quality food and decor. My second time to visit and a line almost out of the front door. Two couples walk out due to wait time. Suggestions are another toaster oven to keep the bagels flowing and a person dedicated to the toaster...each area needs to be attended with the amount of people waiting for the delicious bagels. Great quality sandwiches! They make their own bagels from scratch and use top notch ingredients for all their sandwiches!
