The radiator we received ended up having a larger leak then the one I gave them in exchange. I called multiple times asking for my $$ back. Finally they agreed to give me my money back but would charge a restocking fee. They kept my old radiator though. I feel like if they were going to charge me a restocking fee (for a crappy radiator) then I should have at least got my old one back. Makes me wonder if they sold mine to someone else already.

She limped it to the motel in Remington and spent the night. I arrived the next morning and took it to Clarence (only repair shop in town). He made room for me and started right away to get me back on the road as quickly as possible. Diagnosed the problem immediately and had the parts there in no time. Very professional and does the repairs the correct way . Was pleasantly surprised when the bill was less than half of what my local dealer had charged when the other front wheel had the same service (hub replacement). After Thanksgiving break, on their way back to college from Chicago to Columbus, my daughters were involved in a highway accident that left the car undrivable. (They were unhurt.) The vehicle was towed away and eventually made it to Monticello Motors for a repair estimate. From Chicago, I called and spoke to Grant. I told him my car was going to be towed to his shop and before I identified myself he rattled off all of the details from a message he must have just received from the insurer. Before I had to follow up, he called me, told me the cost and predicted, based on experience, that the insurer would likely consider the car a total loss. He was so kind about it. I'd never been through something like this and he explained to me exactly how the process plays out and what to expect. He told me he'd ship me the license plates (I hadn't even thought of that) and anything else in the car and said the cost of shipping wasn't much and he'd do it for free. I offered to pay and he refused to accept payment. He also told me to be sure to call him once I had settled on an amount for the car with the insurer - that he wouldn't release the car to them without my approval. He owed me nothing at all. Let's face it, the insurance company was the one paying him, yet he treated me like a longtime customer. Though he didn't say it outright, thanks to his explanation about the process I realized that the amount the insurance company offered me is a negotiable amount and I ended up negotiating and receiving over $800 more than the original offer. If you live near Monticello I think you'll be thrilled with the level of service you'll receive.

Nothing is worse for your car than having Chicago valets park your car daily, and parking your car daily on narrow Chicago streets. Finally, we couldn't put it off any longer because our car was now 6 years old, and there were two gouges so deep, they were starting to rust. We only have one city car so we stressed to the owner of Monticello Motors how we were on a tight schedule and needed the car back in a couple of days. He offered to work on the car over the holiday weekend just so we would have it back that Sunday night. We were wary of what the price would be since there was also a huge dent where the valet had wrapped the backside of the car into a cement mullion, and we didn't want to replace the two panels affected. The owner assured us he would do his best to bang out the dent, buff and paint it where it would be noticeable on close inspection but a huge improvement over what it looked like now. He would also take care of the two, deep long gouges and offered to fill-in all the little chips of paint missing on the hood from where tiny rocks hit it on the interstate. All this, and he was only going to charge us $600.00. It seemed too good to be true, but true to his word, he did everything he said he would do, better than we thought possible, over the holiday weekend and in time for us to go home on Sunday night all for $600.00. Wow! Everyone we met at Monticello Motors was very nice, but we especially enjoyed talking to the owner who is himself a transplant from Chicago and worked for years at the dealership where we purchased our car. That gave us extra confidence he knew what he was doing and a professional to boot. I can't believe we can get this kind of service in Monticello for such a steal.

I took it in on Friday with no expectation of a boat to be able to use over the holiday weekend. The techs got some initial findings, then called me to confirm I wanted to keep digging. I appreciated the offer vs. just charging labor only to then decide not to repair. They found what I expected, and here it is Thursday morning and I'm driving my boat back to my dock. They even set the expectation that it wouldn't be ready by the weekend, which I could hardly fault them for. I'm sure I'm not the only one with boat issues wanting to get resolved by this weekend. They far surpassed expectations, and the boat runs great. They sent me on my way with some future steps to work out in the carb and I couldn't be happier. I don't want to promise they'll always be early, but this first experience with them was spectacular. To be fair, it's pretty much the only marina on the lake, so using them again would be inevitable regardless. I will be comfortable if I do, because it's in great hands there.
