I'm all for supporting a local library system. The store is small but very well stocked. The majority of the prices are reasonable, product is in good condition and fun to dig around. The store fully supports the library and uses 100% volunteers for their employees. Their hours are limited so make sure you call or check to see if they're open. I found the lady working to be pleasant and hospitable. We had lots of conversation and there were lots of people in and out. I didn't see anyone who didn't buy anything. It's a great place to pick up a beach read or silverware if you forget yours.

Pacific City is BEAUTIFUL! We went to several little towns checking out the lighthouses and little shops. About the gallery: The people that work here are super nice and the owner is VERY informative. We loved the artists they had in the gallery like and purchased a Rose Perez seascape. In addition to wall art, they also have glass balls, wood carvings, pottery, jewelry and textiles. The prices are also appropriate and not outrageously overpriced. I will post some photos when I get the images uploaded but I thought I would mention it. Note: Make sure you call to check on their hours. Since it is winter they are only open Thursday thru Sunday (I was told this was pretty common for the coast). Lastly, I wanted to reiterate that Pacific City's beach is beautiful with Chief Rock and the flat sandy beach. There is a huge area along the beach that is almost untouched because it is part of a national park Bob Straub Park. You can park your car and walk thru the grass to the beach. Keep walking (South) and you end up where the ocean meets the river. We saw some seals swimming around. Also, if you head (North) during low tide you can also check out the sea urchins and muscles that line the rocks.

We had plenty of room to cook and play and enjoy the beach. The kids and I had a great time hunting sand crabs, flying kites and making sand castles. It's a short walk to the tide pools and Cape Kiwanda. The location is magical and the house is beautiful. We didn't want to leave, and we will definitely be staying here again.

This a letter we sent to the owner…read more.. Janet, I am writing to you because I'm sure you would want to be aware of a significant customer service problem at your Newport store. I contacted your store and spoke with Charles Curry, your store Manger and Service Technician. My husband and I were seeking to have the exterior of our tub replaced due to rotting wood and to have the still-working tub serviced. Charles told me he would need to connect with his father and brother regarding the desired wood exterior (no problem). Charles took down the information about the tub, took measurements and told me he expected the job to start in about 2 weeks. Two weeks later, having not heard from Charles, I stopped in the store and spoke with him, asking for an update. He told me he had forgotten about our project! Forgot?? I was pretty surprised. Since when does a business forget coming out to your house and commit to doing a job? He explained that he was very busy, but just needed to get the wood and figure out the cost. Fine. I asked him to please keep me posted. A week passed. No word from Charles, so both my husband and I stopped in the store. Same excuse. "Very busy", but he would get to it. I continued to call weekly and spoke with his store employee who passed on our request that he call us. No return calls. We depended on Charles to follow-through with what he said he was going to do (do the job). He represents your company and unfortunately, his behavior and lack of communication were very unprofessional. We have lived in Lincoln County for 44 years and have never experienced this type of unprofessionalism from any business. We tried to be patient with him, giving him the benefit of the doubt, hoping he would follow through. No go. Because of this experience with Charles, we will never be doing business with Poolside Jan's as long as Charles is employed there. We will also be posting our experience on social media. I see from reviews on your site that this is not the first time poor customer service has been noted.
