Lucky in Fremont... the folks are super nice, very professional and extremely courteous. I love the store and how it is well maintained.

Lucky is always overpriced compared to Safeway, but it's easy to stop by on my way home from work. Today, when I went through self checkout, I was informed by the courtesy clerk that you can no longer bag your groceries while checking out at self checkout. She told me that you have to scan all your groceries first and then bag after. Usually, I put the bag up on the scale before scanning the groceries and then just put the groceries into the bag, but they no longer allow that. So she pulled my groceries out of the bag to allow me to scan the rest of the groceries. read more

Skip this Lucky's and go to Safeway or somewhere else instead. Looks like a huge store but once you go inside, it's dark and eerie. There are two point of entry but one is closed, best to park closest to the main sliding doors. The lights are dim or flickering throughout the store. It's a large store that you don't run into people. The aisles are fully stocked and the produce area looks fresh with variety. The baked goods are suspicious. Some looked like it had mold in the bottom. There are employees around but mostly at the checkout area. The self checkout machines were at least working well. read more

I really hope this place can get it together because it's so conveniently near my 85yo mothers home but it's been slipping bad in the last few years with poor produce and items out of date on the shelves and at times needing to return after reviewing her tag after seeing she was charged twice for a whole ham ( I'm glad they all are different weights so this was easy to prove ) read your tags closely. ) she goes for the sales but they are usually sold out in the first day of most sales and rain checks are no longer given. At 85 it's more of an effort to get out shopping for some and on a fixed income sale items are budget helping so it's disappointing to constantly find out that there were just a few to bait you to the store and too much effort to then buy it someplace else when your being driven . I shop at this store all the time. My huge complaint is the seafood. The seafood is HORRIBLE. I've had to return seafood on 3 occasions. Fresh and frozen. 1. Crab legs in the "fresh" seafood counter. RETURNED. Too much mercury and tasted old. 2. Whiting fish. In the frozen section. Started cooking it and it turned gray. Returned it. 3. Yesterday. Shrimp from the "fresh" seafood section. After I cooked them, I could smell this "old been frozen before and thawed out and frozen again smell." Tasted one after I cooked them. Tasted very OLD. I didn't return them because I had already cooked them and said I will never get seafood from this store again. It's so hard to find fresh and decent seafood around here in Fremont. I don't patronize 99 Ranch stores because they have flies, flying around here seafood. Lucky's, you need to do better. read more

Apparently Yelpers aren't particularly happy with this Lucky location with the main complaints as poor customer service, lousy quality and poor layout. I hope to balance out the negativity with a bit of positive energy. I shop here once a week, every weds morning, to be exact. I come in before 7:30 am to buy grub for my morning group meeting. I have always found the morning crew pleasant & helpful - Rueben and Kin, they are the best. I am particularly happy that this Lucky keeps the restroom clean and stocked. I like the sales rack in the back, placed next to the dairy section where they offer discounted bread, pastries and cakes. I go there 1st to get the day's deals. Overall, I find this location convenient, easy parking, has loads of shopping carts in working order and is clean clean clean. read more

Had an extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience at this location. I was racially profiled by the self-checkout clerk over something as insignificant as a plastic bag. Despite being polite and honest throughout my transaction, the clerk repeatedly singled me out. After completing my purchase, she demanded to see my receipt solely because of a bag, and then escalated the situation by accusing me of not paying for the ice I had just picked up--items I had already rung up myself. Her approach was aggressive, disrespectful, and completely inappropriate. Instead of treating me as a paying customer, she spoke in a demanding, authoritarian manner, which made it clear I was being profiled. As I was leaving, she told me I was no longer welcome in the store, and I made it clear I didn't care about her false accusations--yet I still chose to remain polite and told her to have a nice day. To make matters worse, she left other customers waiting at self-checkout just to walk outside during her shift and take a photo of my license plate. This type of treatment toward a paying customer is unacceptable. No one should be harassed, profiled, or disrespected over a ten-cent bag. I cannot recommend this store, as it appears they would rather accuse and embarrass honest customers than provide professional service. read more

Tracy was amazing with taking my 2 dozen cupcake order: 1 dozen chocolate with Oreo frosting and 1 dozen chocolate with chocolate sprinkle frosting. She was fast, advised me how and when the cupcakes will be done and gave the pricing. My promised time was 9:30am, I showed up at Lucky today at 9:15am and the cupcakes were ready. Also had problems with them honoring e-coupons that were given to me when I use the car chargers in their lot. They said I had to go home and print them instead of them scanned the QR code provided. I was super impressed with the new "Lower Prices" that Lucky is advertising. I received an email notifying me of some items of interest, including corn and a free drink. When I got to the store only two days later, they were completely sold out of these items. It feels like I was baited and switched as I went out of my way to go to this location to do some shopping. I saw that there were packages of four pieces of corn on a tray for $5. I asked the manager on duty if he could honor the sale price for this corn. He said he couldn't. Shame on you Lucky! If you're going to advertise something, make sure you have enough on hand to keep your promise. It appears to me you are attracting customers to the store to purchase an item at a much higher price than advertised. I have a problem with this. read more

He asked the lady in the background and she rudely said "no way!" New to the area and this store is right down the street. After coming to this store a handful of times, here is what I've come across. *The set up and layout is all over the place. I was looking for snacks such as chips/pretzels/popcorn and they had the same selections scattered in 3 different isles, I wasnt sure which isle I was supposed to go to. *The service at the deli takes forever, I've tried to get fresh chicken strips / potatoe wedges and I swear, it takes about 5 minutes for the workers to finish up their side conversations before they decide to assist me. *They lack checkers at the registers, and the lines get way too long and take forever because they usually only have 2 checkers available, even during peak hours. I undersand that they have "self check out", and that's fine when you have 5 items or less, but when you have a shopping cart full of items, you prefer to have a trained employee scan and bag your groceries (at least I do). Those are just some of the things I've noticed in the 5 times I've been to this store. Also, I just left the store 5 minutes ago. Here was my experience: I came in and went to the deli to get chicken strips and potatoe wedges. Ofcourse, I had to wait a few minutes for the workers to finish their conversation before they assisted me. I asked for 1 pound of potatoe wedges (there was not enough on display), the clerk said it will take about 6 minutes for my order, which I was fine with. About 5 minutes go by and the clerk tells me "sorry sir, but we are out of potatoe wedges". Big time fail! So I get something else, and I get in line at 1 of the registers only for the clerk to say "i'm sorry sir, but there are other registers you can go to", I'm thinking "wtf?". Not only did she have an attitude, but when I tried to pay with my debit card, I was looking at the display for my total and she points at the monitor and said "your total is right there!", and I said "yes, I know but I'm used to seeing it on the display where I'm using my debit card to pay". She responds with "well, that's not us, that's somewhere else". And I say "i know, you guys are not that advanced yet, I see". I hope the business manager does something about this quick because there are other stores in the area. I was in there earlier in the seafood section and had a question about their salmon. I asked a simple question about if they knew how long we can freeze salmon. The worker looked at me and said "I'm a butcher" and nothing else. I answered "no, you don't know?" He just looks at me which was strange as I've gotten interaction from that department staff many times. He looked at me as if that wasn't a legit question. My wife later said "that's no way to answer a customer's question" even if you don't know the question. I said yeah I thought that was strange as if I was bothering him. Im always hesitant to purchase meat products from this location due to discolored meat I see often when shopping. I bought sausages for the first time at this location and sure enough...IT WAS BAD! I cooked it and once I took a bite I immediately knew why I never bought meat from here. Gut instinct maybe; it was appalling. The product placement and storage was terrible. As you can see in the photos. I will drive an extra 10 mins to Safeway next time for meat products. This is complete negligence. I usually go to a competitor down the street with a big red "S" on the building. Last night I was next to Lucky and decided "Why Not?". I bought some cheese, bread, and raspberries. Sourdough bread was spongy with no crustiness at all. Raspberries turned out to be FULL of mold when I opened them the next morning (yes, they were refrigerated). Well, it turns out that they were BSing me, and have no intention of actually restoring paper bags to the store. They *do* have a few available, but they keep them in the back of the store where we cannot access them; we have to ask an available checker to drop what they are doing and go in back to get me a bag. This is just a trash store, no two ways about it. In the last 5 years or more I've noticed a decline in customer service coming from the employees. Mostly from the cashiers, the baggers and the self-checkout. The produce and bakery people are usually very nice and helpful. Everyone else looks surly and is always seem to be talking bad about the company in front of the customers. There is no hello. How are you? They just stare at you, no smile etc etc. Of not wanting to work there. My family and I have decided to go shop elsewhere. Customer service goes a long way especially the grocery business. I think attitudes need to be checked. I get it. The good and bad of this particular Lucky store: It's HUGE it has a great pharmacy. A big clean and well stocked produce dept. The aisles are wide which is always nice, especially now with social distancing. All the employees are masked and gloved. Which brings me to the bad... The kid in the fish dept Sat 5/2/2020 3:30 He had gloves on when he came to help me he dropped a price sign on the floor picked it up and then touched raw fish! When I asked him to cut off the fish he touched and change his gloves he asked me if I had a problem! YES I DO... now that is always gross, right now it's frighteningly dangerous! COVID19 kid??!!! Foodborne illness?!?! Now maybe you are just too young or overwhelmed... Idk, I know you have to go through training to work with food, so you should know better!! Changed my mind about getting the fish... He still had the same gloves on when I left! Although I'm not a big Lucky shopper I go to many different Lucky stores all over, this was the worst thing I have ever seen. The rest of this store is fine. Starting coming here in the 70's when it was Gemco. The 80's-90's when it was Target. It is much better than the one closest to me. Management can fix this problem. PHARMACY AT LUCKY- After having a terrible experience at the Washington Hospital ER, I went to Lucky's pharmacy to pick up my medicine. When I arrived there was a sign up that said the pharmacy was closed for break. I was noticeably in a lot of pain and the pharmacist saw me walking out. He offered to help me even though he was on lunch. He ran back inside and filled my prescription right away, saving me from an extra 30 minutes of pain. I couldn't be more grateful. He's genuinely a caring person. I've never had a bad experience at this pharmacy and I believe it is the fastest service available at any pharmacy in Fremont. Typically no line at all. read more

I witnessed a lady from the bakery (with purple glasses) drop a muffin when she was re-stocking the baked goods. I rolled around on the floor, she picked it up, and placed it back in its container and didn't even think about it. I asked to speak to a manager as I was checking out, but the manager didn't really care about it. She just said she'll check on it. I asked how can she when she doesn't even know which muffin I'm talking about? She said I had to wait because she needed to attend to someone first. I would have stayed if I had the time Ms. Manager, but clearly it didn't bother you otherwise you would have made sure I pointed it to you and you took it out. I was accused of stealing some lumpia's and the teller ran out and called me a thief and a robber in front of many people then was throwing whatever he had in his hand towards me so I went back in and paid for it again. I talked to the woman supervisor Nataly and she took him to the back! I looked into my account and had proof that I was charged twice! If their self check out machines need more receipt paper they need to put more in but the tall grey haired white guy runs out the store and calls me a thief is definitely not good!! Some of his co-workers told me he has anger management issues and that he's even rude to them and over aggressive!! I don't ever say people should be fired but he needs to check himself and realize that some or a lot of people don't have jobs so he should be lucky especially since he acts like a jerk to customers and his own co-workers!! I wish I got his name but the scenario was so heated and disrespectful I didn't look! All for $20 lumpia's, my family and I work too hard to be accused of thieves. Closest grocery store from my house, so often go here. I definitely prefer other stores, but it's good in a pinch! Good selection of items and usually has what I need. The only problem I have experienced here are the cashier backups. I have had to stand in line for a looong time multiple times since the cashier lines move so slow. The only time I go to the cashier check out line rather than the self checkout is if I'm buying alcohol, and I once had to wait like 20 min for the cashier to go get a bottle out of the case for me lol. That said, this may not be the best place if you need alcohol and are on a schedule lol. No problems with the self checkout tho. read more

I never usually go to this particular Lucky's because at the store near me you can never find someone to help you out if you are looking for a particular item. This time at this store it was different. I was in the meat section looking for sale items that were on the current flyer. I went up and down the aisles and could not find anything (frustrating). I happen to notice one of the Lucky employees who seemed to be doing inventory/lists. I just walked up and said...sorry to bother...do you know where these sales items are? He stopped what he was doing...and said let me check the back and voila...he found all the items I was looking for. This review is specifically for the pharmacy. After using the pharmacy at Rite Aid for many years, my family and I had to find a new one once they closed down. We unfortunately had some issues with other "chain" pharmacies following that, so we figured that we'd give Lucky a try. To put it plain and simple: we're glad that we did! The pharmacy at Lucky is never crowded, the workers answer phone calls quickly and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Although we appreciate all of the workers at the pharmacy, I want to single out Trang and Pooja...they're both great! Trang and Pooja deal with the plentiful amounts of calls, questions and requests that my family and I have with patience and kindness. We thought that it might be hard at first to adjust to new pharmacists after dealing with the same ones for several decades, but Trang and Pooja made it very easy! 5 out of 5 stars! read more

I don't go to Lucky's that often, but today I had to pick up a few things and this was the closest thing. It always seems super organized and clean the few times I've come. I'm not sure if it's Lucky's in general or this store specifically but they seem to always have new and popular items! For example, I saw the new Starbucks energy drinks displayed and other new snacks and drinks. They also had food items I have been wanting to try, so it was nice seeing all these things unexpectedly!
