What a place! This unassuming little noodle shop is my new best reason to come back to my old neighborhood. The flavors and textures are out of this world and the staff is lovely. I was here for a Yelp event, so I was fortunate to be able to sample a large number of items. Everything I tried was delicious, but the Khao Soy w/ Fried Chicken was the standout for me. However, I feel strongly that I could order anything off of the menu and be completely delighted. I don't make it out to Cap Hill as often as I'd like nowadays, but the next time I do, I am absolutely taking my husband to Lucky Noodle. I know parking in Cap Hill is a pain, but it's worth dealing with that issue to come here. Alternatively, just hop on the 15 as it goes right past this place. We were so excited to discover that Lucky Noodles didn't close--they just moved to a fantastic new location off Broadway! This place serves the most authentic Thai street food you'll find in Denver. After chatting with the owner, we learned that this is truly her family's craft--what they've been cooking for generations back in Thailand. And it shows. There are three generations of chefs in the kitchen, and their passion and expertise come through in every bite. The Tom Yum noodle soup is absolutely incredible--rich, complex, and unlike any Tom Yum you've had before. It's served with noodles, and the flavor is so crave-worthy, I find myself thinking about it every week. If you're in the mood for something creamy and comforting, the Khao Soi is a must. It's rich with coconut milk, full of flavor, and just hits the spot. I also tried the honey lemonade recently, and wow--total flavor bomb! Refreshing and perfectly balanced--it's my new favorite. A unique and unassuming spot that will blow your mind. There was a great sense of love, care and traditional roots in not only the food, but the service. Before a concert at The Fillmore, we stopped by to have an early dinner, and man, we didn't know the treat we were in for. Lucky Noodle is small, but mighty and super cute. You'd think with all the plants that the place would be bug infested, but the restaurant is very well kept and sanitary. The owner says she started out with one and it just kept growing and growing, haha! She was so sweet and made you feel right at home. Crab Cheese Wontons. The Hangover Wonton soup has incredible broth, the Pork Roti was incredibly flavorful and perfectly balanced, the mangos in the mango sticky rice were some of the best I've had, and the service was fantastic. I was invited here for a special event to try some of the favorites here. The restaurant is on Colfax with street paid parking or side street parking, free after 6pm. Ploy, the owner, is such a sweet lady. She came over while we were eating to tell us the Tom Kha has been simmered for six hours. Needless to say, I was excited to try! What I swallowed: *CURRY PUFFS: These are light and delectable, the curry flavor is not overpowering and the sweet sauce that accompanies it is the perfect pairing. *PAPAYA SALAD with GRILLED PORK: I appreciate that the grilled pork was served separately so that it stayed crispy when added to the papaya salad. The papaya salad is amazing but it self, with the perfect balance of tang and sweet and then just a delightful kick at the end for a bit of heat. This is a really good salad. *KRA PAO with GRILLED CHICKEN: Oftentimes I order grilled chicken and it just gets dry and stringy after it sits for a while. This was not the case. The grilled chicken in this dish is just so delicate and moist and just sopped up the kra pao sauce amazingly. The green beans in this dish also were very fresh. A well put together dish. *TOM KHA with GROUND PORK: Ploy (the owner) had come by and told us this dish is simmered for six hours, people, you MUST try this dish. So delicate with lots of layers for flavors. I ate every last piece of this dish. I still dream about this dish. It's so delicious and the ground pork tasted very fresh. *KHAO SOY with FRIED CHICKEN: I love me a penang curry and I can only explain this dish as a penang curry's cuter cousin. We were sure what was the special ingredient in this dish but what we all could agree on was that this dish was TASTY!!! Another favorite dish and a for sure dish that I will order in the future! *MANGO STICKY RICE: How can they serve such deliciousness smack in the middle of winter? The mango was perfectly ripened and of course, the rick was cooked perfectly topped with all the sticky rice cream sauce goodness. I'll order ten more of these please! The Canadian and I have been looking for our Thai go-to spot. Lucky Noodle is not in our neighborhood but 1001% it is my favorite Thai spot here in the Denver area to date. It is the perfect place to grab a weekend lunch. I ordered items from the secret menu and it was just divine. I wished I photographed the secret menu so I can figure out what I ate for the Sunday afternoon. When I packed it up, the leftovers were gone in a day. The spice level was medium but just right with the level of heat hitting me at the back of my throat. We were the first customers on Sunday afternoon. After opening, the line started to increase with customers who were on their personal Mile High Asian Food Week Tour. The owner was friendly and gracious. Wow, I'm so glad that Lucky Noodles popped up in my Yelp feed -- because I've driven past the location countless times and never noticed this unassuming gem. I don't know how Yelp knew I was craving authentic Thai -- but I'm grateful that it surfaced Lucky Noodles on a late Friday afternoon after I skipped both breakfast and lunch. This charming restaurant is located in Denver at the SE corner of Colfax Ave. and Marion St. with curbside parking. Upon walking in, the friendly vibe, simple yet elegant and thoughtful decor and abundant plants immediately reminded me of small, family operated restaurants I had the privilege of enjoying in Chiang Mai, Songkhla and other places in Thailand. I was greeted by friendly staff and Ploy, the owner who gave me both the standard menu and the "secret" Thai menu. All of the expected Thai standard appetizers, entrees and desserts are presented which made it hard for me to choose -- so I impulsively asked Ploy to recommend something. She suggested Khao Soi based on my preferences and the weather. Ploy explained how she prepared the curry and how she tracked down the missing trick to producing the aroma that reminds her of her grandmother's Khao Soi in Chiang Mai. I added Singha Thai beer and asked if they had Cha Ma Nao (Thai iced lime tea). Ploy said it's not on the menu but she would make it for me. At that moment I sensed that I had stumbled into (or was led to) a very special place. I am writing this review as I'm enjoying this extraordinary meal that was made with love and served with care and the pride that comes from being deeply invested in creating a personal work of art. The Khao Soi is delicious -- the curry, pickled veggies, egg noodles, crispy chicken and other ingredients are each perfectly prepared and the combination greeted me with an aroma that invited me to just stop and savor everything. Which I did. Every bite and every sip revealed something delightful: delicious flavors and wonderful textures that are the result of thoughtfulness, planning, careful preparation and the desire and will to present something special to guests. The Singha beer was a nice, crisp and refreshing compliment. Each sip was a reset and made the subsequent bites and sip of Khao Soi brand new. I chased this fantastic meal with the Cha Ma Nao prepared just for me. And I'm deliberately taking my time as each sip reminds me of the thoughtfully prepared meals I enjoyed in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Hat Yai and Songkhla and the dear friends and extended family in The Land of Smiles that made those meals so special for me. What a delightful culinary treat after a trip to the Denver Zoo! When my partner and I were evaluating Thai places to eat for lunch, we saw Lucky Noodles on the 2022 Yelp Top 50 List and made our decision based on that. Relatively easy street parking on Colfax. We came for a late lunch so there was no crowd. This place gets crazy, but at least there's outdoor patio seating too. We chilled for a bit in front. There only seemed to be 2-3 people running this place, so expect delays. We were seated with paper menus, deciding on Pad Thai and Pineapple Fried Rice for our entrées. Get that Pad Thai spicy! For dessert, the kitchen had JUST made Mango Mousse Cake, so we ordered a slice of that in addition to my FAVORITE Mango Sticky Rice. Love the serene setting (maybe it's the plants) and wonderful service. The food is fantastic, especially the desserts. I always get Pad Thai to calibrate a new Thai restaurant then come back for more varied choices. The unassuming corner spot on Colfax delivers authentic Thai dishes and family recipes in an adorable setting. It starts with the people. Ploy, who's the owner and operator, is nothing but a delight to talk to. She engages with all her customers and emulates the feeling of "welcome to my home." Everything is made from scratch, and sometimes you're even lucky enough to find her mother (who's 80 years young) cooking in the kitchen. Obviously, you'll find your staple Thai dishes here like Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Tom Kha, etc. However, the menu is concise compared to most takeout places and there are always slight twists or dishes that I'm unfamiliar with, which normally end up being my favorites! One of my favorites is the Pork Roti. It's a must order every time I go. This is Thai street food at its finest. Fresh, savory and the roti roll is spectacular. I wish we replaced tortillas with roti for most dishes! Additionally, the Grilled Pork and Fried Chicken dishes are exquisite. Yesterday I ordered a newer dish to the menu, Kra Pao, a spicy ground pork and basil stir fry. It was fantastic. Served piping hot with a side of perfectly cooked jasmine rice, I can see why this dish is so popular. The sauce was aromatic and flavorful, and not too heavy. It's also worth noting they make a vast assortment of specialty teas. Labeled "Ploy's Special Tea" on the menu, these cold drinks will help you beat the heat on any warm day. I ordered the shrimp pad Thai tonight for dinner via door dash. I have driven past this spot and kept thinking I needed to stop in and give it a try. The shrimp pad was delicious. At first glance, I thought the portion was kind of small for the $20 spent on it, but it's really compressed in the container. This was probably the best pad Thai I've had in a while.
