Highly recommend paying the $20 to get the price tag kit so you can pre-tag your items at home to make load in day easier. It is a fun concept, and I have also found some great deals. I sold my clothes here twice. You purchase the closet online. Both times I got a premium closet for $60. You can pick up the tags ahead of time, the week of your check-in Saturday. Tag all your clothes/products at home before your check-in date. On your check in Saturday, it's first come first serve for closet space. Everyone stands in line outside of the store and lines up. I suggest going at 7am to be in the front but everyone will start showing up around 7:30am. At 8am the store opens and staff will check you in. You hang and put your products on the self. Tips: To save time- Count your items before hand. Also have a sheet of blank small stickers to write your closet number so you can stick that on your tags instead of handwriting it one by on onto the tag. Sometimes there's not enough hangers or the type of hangers you need. Staff is nice and helpful. I think it's worth it. I made about $420 the first time I sold here. The store does take a third of sales. Yes, Hawaiian print or local print stuff sells. If it's not in that category then I priced my clothes $5-10...Sometimes $15. read more

Lucky penny is great! Both for customers and as a business concept. It is a consignment store that rents out "closets" by the week. The whole store probably has about 30 closets so there is a lot to choose from! They also have a pretty great rotation of things, particularly people trying to get rid of their older aloha wear so this is perfect if you're into older prints or looking for a particular discontinued print. The people selling their things can sell whatever they want as long as it isn't good or electronics. So you can find books, artwork, and a lot of accessories in addition to clothes. One seller had old local yearbooks. There's also a closet that sells military clothes. It's so random! I love it. The people working here are so nice. They're patient and friendly and have great taste. They'll compliment you, help you find things and make suggestions. I rented a closet here for 1 week. It's easy enough to book online, pay the $40 fee and come in to set up (sat morning) and break down (Friday night). I ended up making about $400 after lucky penny takes 30% so it wasn't bad at all. I'd definitely recommend them if you're wanting to sell your things and I'd probably do it again!! Oh! And it's worth checking out their high end corner. They have Chanel, Louis Vuitton and bottega veneta bags and shoes!! read more

Unlike regular thrift stores, consignment shops like LuckyPenny had very good condition and higher quality goods. Store had featured some designer brands with rotating its inventory making it better for customers looking for unique/good finds while supporting sustainability. For those of you interested, instead of throwing away your loved goods, you can book your own closet for $40 and sell your own items with your own price! LuckyPenny is located at the Pearl City Plaza where Button Up Cafe is. You just walk down a little and you should be able to spot the place right away. Parking can be an issue as it is shared with other businesses but I never really had a problem with finding a stall here. All in all I hope you happy thrifting! read more

Not too many reviews available unfortunately on the selling process as Lucky Penny is one of the FEW consignment shops where people could possibly make some passive income due to the scale of the shop's popularity. The fine print says that rental rack options can vary from seven days (1 week) to 4 weeks. Its approximately $40 for 1 week. Last I read Lucky Penny also receives 33% profit of your total sales. What you can sell is unlimited in terms of style and brands. Their policies simply ask that nothing is dirty or stinky. Tags and hangers provided. Its pretty straightforward if your closet is in need of a declutter yet it contains high value. . Popular items on the racks include exclusive, limited edition pieces from local and mainland brands alike. Lots of hats, jewelry, bags, and shoes to browse through. Lucky Penny is a great store and I love that it supports local people. However, I feel as though the workers there should not be purchasing or setting aside merchandise while they are working. The merchandise should be available first to the customer who has come in. It is bothersome to see the employees buying merchandise that we customers didn't have a chance to buy let alone see. I walked in on two separate occasions to workers on the clock trying on outfits and talking disturbingly loud. There was a piece I was walking over to when a worker from behind the desk snatched it up and tried it on in front of me. This experience is quite similar if not identical to my friends and family who have visited as well. read more

If you love the hunt, Lucky Penny is a must! Lots of variety in clothing, shoes, and handbags. Some sellers are a little pricey and others are more reasonable. Expect to find something and bring your wallet because if you find it, you don't want to wait. It most assuredly will be gone! Staff are super friendly and helpful. One tip: Examine your finds thoroughly! I bought a vintage Manuheali'i and paid $40 for it only to find a small puka in the front. Disappointing to say the least. I visited recently and this was my first time coming here and I felt the customer service was unwelcoming. They did not pass the vibe check. First off, I didn't read the the no-bag sign at the entrance, which was my dumb mistake/fault , but when I walked in the staff just stared at me without greeting me or explaining the policy or even bother to even say a simple" Welcome, hey is this your first time here? This is how it works.". They probably thought I was stupid for not reading the sign at the door which again i admit was my fault. I wasn't told about the no bag (has to be put in lockers) rule from staff until I passed the lockers and was looking at a rack that they noticed i still had my bag and then told me oh you need to put your bag in the lockers we have a no bag policy. To be fair maybe they thought I knew or were talking and didn't notice as I came in fast. I just felt unwanted and felt so stupid at that moment. Then this is what made me upset and im writing this review was when i was leaving another group walked in and they were greeted warmly and given clear instructions immediately about where to put their bags in the lockers. Thats what really got me, and made me think "wow!! Did i just hear that! Why did they not greet me and tell me the rules when i came in?" Also I heard the staff being so nice telling the other group that just came in the door "let me know if you want to try the stuff on the mannequin" and being so nice and helpful to them which for me they never asked if I needed help. Seems like they didn't want my business. A simple "oh do you need help? Or do you want to try on anything, let us know?" would have made all the change and i would not be writing this review. The contrast in treatment felt uncomfortable and unnecessary. I hope the staff can be more consistent and welcoming to all customers. I hope by writing this they can be more welcoming to new customers. read more
