Yum! Had a great first visit at Lucky's. Walking in to this bright, clean, spacious, 50s themed diner, you would never have known it was a dive bar in its last couple iterations. Amazing transformation. The inside is minimal with the diner decor, keeping the place open and uncluttered (although, there's a lady mannequin propped up near the window!). The smaller back patio is also nicely remodeled with their signature red double decker bus, which I hear is very close to being ready for occupation (as of 7/12/26). That will be fun to hang out and eat your burger and fries in there, especially if A/C is provided. The cute patio is also open to leashed dogs that are well behaved. I love that they offer combos with a shake or a fountain drink. You'll find burgers, shakes, fries, chili, and hot dogs. The menu is very reasonably priced too. I got a single Lucky burger combo with a large banana peanut butter chocolate shake (you can mix flavors), upgraded to chili cheese fries, and also ordered a separate fountain drink. The cashier was very friendly, patient, and helpful. Service 10/10. Given a buzzer and found a table inside. Food came up in about 5 minutes. Good burger but had way too many onions (easy fix though). I wouldn't mind a softer bun, but it was fine. The Lucky sauce is similar to thousand island dressing, and they had a few other sauces available that I still need to try. The fries were great! Battered, seasoned, and crispy. Shake was thick and not too sweet. They use real fruit, but not sure if they use real ice cream or soft serve. Either way, it was still delicious. Something about Lucky's always struck me as a perfect Friday night burger spot, like a great low-key treat to wrap up a week. My husband and I met up with our friend for exactly that - a way to wrap up a busy week and also catch up. There was plenty of parking available in the designated lot, and ordering at the counter was a breeze. We ordered lucky burgers and fries, all classic and added lucky sauce and garlic aioli on the side. Everything tasted super fresh and we especially loved the fries and sauces. This place is popular on social media so my husband and I had to check this place out! This is a cool spot. The decor is fun to look at. I love that there's options here for everyone. I like the veggie and chicken options. Their shakes are tasty. You can dine in here or take it to go. I did come here before with my in laws and they really enjoyed the hot dog. The latest visit we had, my husband absolutely loved the chili cheese fries. I loved the fries and my chicken sandwich. The people who work here are kind and helpful. Went here with my best friend over the weekend and was super impressed! Everything from the inside decor to food taste to the ambiance was just right! I got the barbecue bacon burger+fries and shake meal, and it was perfect. I could definitely go back for a side of fries real soon especially lol. I really enjoyed the shake, but it was on the smaller side. I will say it was priced just right and came out in good time. My best friend and I sat outside and it was perfect. After a movie at Tower Theater, was heading to Gunther's for a 50/50 and happened upon this place. Lucky I found it since I was hungry (see what I did there hehe). My favorite burger is with mushrooms so it's a no brainer I got the Mushroom & Swiss burger meal and added the lucky sauce. Didn't take long for the food. Headed for their covered patio since it's a nice day to sit outside. The fries were really good with the lucky sauce. Enjoyed my mushroom swiss burger. Look, I'm not an "expert" but I have written a few burger reviews and I spontaneously got a cheeseburger tattoo so, you should feel like you can trust me. Flavorful. Juicy. Saucy but not messy. I'm saying 5 stars in terms of Fast-ish food. If you are comparing it to a fast food restaurant like Mc Donald's or Wendy's it's definitely better. If you're comparing it to In-N-Out or Five Guys it can hold its own. But these stars aren't putting it against a sit down with a server taking your order type of restaurant. First off, the service was stellar. I was wearing a veteran shirt and as I was ordering the person asked if I was a vet and proceeded to give me a discount for my service. She said this is normal and you can show your ID etc for it. There was no reason for her to do that so it surprised me. I also had a guy ask me if my table was clean enough as he was walking around cleaning up. Then later after I was on my way out he asked if I was happy with everything I had. The staff definitely made me feel welcome and happy I spent my money there. I got the double Mushroom Swiss, fries, and a soda. The first bite into the burger I was pleasantly surprised. I read some reviews about the burger being bland. Idk what they were thinking. It was a good burger. I'm not telling everyone I know they have to go there for their next meal, but it was a good burger. The fries were good. The serving was ample. I bought the Hot Mess spicy Ketchup. It was unclear that I could just get ketchup so I thought you had to order the dipping sauce. If you like spicy it definitely had some kick. I think I was expecting a lighter spice. Either way, it was good. Next time I'll probably just get regular ketchup. I wish they had malt vinegar. That would have really made me stoked. Inside the decor was nice and clean. Parking was super easy as well. If you live in Sac you know that sometimes that's really the most painful part of going somewhere. They have a huge parking lot. I love their fries and also had a much better experience with the sauces this time. The garlic aioli was much more garlicky in flavor, and their ranch was also really good! However I still feel like they could use a better bun! It was a bit too dry for my liking. If I could give a 4.5 star rating, I would! This was my first time trying their milkshakes and I loved my blackberry one! It would be nice if they could do some kind of swirl, that flavor would taste great swirled with vanilla. Local update review It has been a year since my last review. Curious if this place still delivers a good burger. Verdict: YES! Everything is very consistent from my last visit. The buns used for their burgers are very very good. Our friend also ordered their burger on a gluten free bun. She thinks it comes from Pushkins Bakery...well-known for their excellent gluten free items. And if the buns are not from Pushkins, then Sacramento has another great gluten free bakery. Their burgers are juicy and fit the buns perfectly with chopped onions, lettuce, pickles and special sauce make the ideal condiments for this burger. Their fries are very good. there must be some type of coating that makes these fries crunchy on the outside and tender in the middle. very addictive. I've been hearing about Lucky's Drive-In for awhile now and finally had the opportunity to check it out. Went on a Saturday around 4pm and was fortunate that there wasn't a long wait. The restaurant has a good size parking lot so you won't have issues there. The menu is pretty straight forward and I ordered a double lucky burger which is two patties, cheese, special sauce, onions, pickles and lettuce. There's tables inside and outside so plenty of room to find a spot to eat. The food came out pretty fast and I took my first bite, the burger was delicious. Cooked very well and tasted fresh. I've been wanting to check out Lucky's Drive-In and finally got to drop in on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. Walking in I was surprised to see how clean this place is. I took a moment to glance at the menu and decided to order the Lucky's Double with fries, and a Peanut Butter Banana Shake. I love that you can mix in the flavors for the Shake. First off I just want to say that the service here is amazing. The cashier was patient with me and my friend as this was our first time here. When the food arrived I was surprised to see how big the portions were. The fries were overflowing into the bag and my burger was enormous. Let me just say that Everything tasted amazing as well. The fries were well seasoned, the burger tasted amazing with the soft bun and the shake tasted great! I love how clean everything tastes, I could tell the quality is good here. We had been meaning to try Lucky's Drive In for some time, and this weekend we arrived early to find an empty parking lot and no line. It was our lucky day! Ugh, that one was bad even for me... Anyway, jokes aside - we went in to a really pleasant, clean dining room and friendly cashier. We ordered a couple of kids meals for the littles, and we both had the mushroom Swiss burger, fries, and shakes. The burger was tasty, if a little small. For the price, I wanted a Jasper's Giant Hamburgers size (old school Sactown referenced IYKYK), but it was adequate and I'm cheap. The fries were surprisingly standout, super tasty and almost a batter fried vibe. They also let us try the four sauces - of which I would say the house made ranch and spicy ketchup were the stars. Shakes were THICK, and the salted caramel was delish. It's going to be dope once the outdoor bus is converted to seating, but the patio had a cool vibe either way. As a lover of everything vintage, this place was fabulous! The diner drive-in vibe was great with decor indoors and on the patio. The double decker red bus is with going to visit, but you will definitely enjoy the burgers and fries while you are at Lucky's! I had the single burger with fries and a side of garlic aioli, the bun of the burger had a great taste and did a great job holding together the messy and tasteful burger. Attended the Trunk or Treat at Lucky's Drive-In with my aunty, cousins and kids. Such a cute experience for the young crowd, free candy and friendly Jeep owners. I was excited to try this place so I tagged along. My first impression was this place is spacious and clean! Far compared to the dive bar that existed here years ago. There was a line, but service was still fast. Looks like they have hard working employees so don't forget to tip. We all ordered a variety of the Lucky Burger, mom added mushrooms and aunty made it double, it has a special thousand island sauce so my cousin didn't like it, she gives it a 3. I ordered the Cherry Coke for $0.99 cents extra, they serve you a clear plastic cup with their homemade maraschino cherrie puree, just top with whatever soda you prefer, I chose Coke Zero. This was bomb, a very classic soda shop Roy Rodger's flavor. Let's not forget the extra crispy fries which were freshly made and delicious. After a few bites of my Lucky Burger I noticed the chopped onions and I love this lil detail. The flavors melded well together from the melted cheese, freshly cooked beef patty, chopped onions and lettuce on a grilled bun with special sauce. I really wanted to like the burgers but the one I got was okay. I got the spicy chipotle burger and was not that great, the patty was under seasoned and the sauce was too sweet but could be because the patty had little to no seasoning, had to add some salt but that didn't even fix it. It just didn't have that burger taste I was looking for and did not satisfy my craving despite a lot of reviews saying the burgers were good. I went in on a weekday around lunch time and it wasn't too busy so not sure what happened. The fries on the other hand were really good, they were crispy and yummy! I ordered a bacon cheese burger with garlic aioli and it a side of fries and a blueberry lemonade. The burger tasted extremely fresh and was delicious. I was initially drawn here because of the big red double-decker bus in their patio (that you can dine in in the future--soooo exciting!). But I will be returning for their food! Interestingly enough, there is one other Lucky's location in Washington. I'm not sure what brought them over to SacTo, but I'm glad they're here! Their establishment is impeccably clean. Their service is great. And their food is pretty good! I can only speak on their fries, burgers, and milkshakes (which, okay, is majority of their menu), but I understand they also have hot dogs, chili, a chili cheese dog, a burger salad, veggie burger, and a chicken sandwich on their menu. Based on what I've tried, I'm ready to come back for more. My party and I got The Lucky single meal (everything on the burger, add bacon), The Lucky double meal (everything on the burger), and an Oreo milkshake. It was a little pricey, but at this point in time, what isn't? I get it. BURGERS: The burgers, at first, were okay. At its base, it has cheese, their special sauce, onions, pickles, and (chopped) lettuce. Add ons (such as tomato, caramelized onions, etc.) are additional. The added bacon on the single burger was the most disappointing thing. It was very thin and flimsy (think Oscar Mayer microwaveable bacon) and it was cut up on the burger so I'm not sure how many pieces they give you--it was $1.28 to add. I couldn't taste it at all if I'm honest. The thing that really elevated and saved the burger for me was the flavor of the meat. It tasted like they smoked it and it was the most delectable thing. FRIES: The fries were very flavorful and it seems like they are covered in starch to give them an extra crunch. MILKSHAKE: The Oreo milkshake was 10/10. At the bottom there were big chunks of Oreo (a good sign, in my opinion). They have plenty of milkshake flavors and it sounds like they have specialty flavors that are rotated. If every milkshake is as good as the Oreo (and I will be trying each one), don't skip on a milkshake whenever you come here. read more

The outdoor eating spot in the back is cute and the sun shade made the outdoor area very manageable. My husband has been raving about Lucky's Drive-In so we finally went last night for dinner. It is located close to Broadway and from the outside, it looks like a little dive bar. Once you enter, you are welcomed by the 50's diner interior. Red is my favorite color so I loved seeing it everywhere - even the bathrooms had red subway tiles. We were greeted by a very friendly young woman who took our order at the counter. My daughter was hesitant on the spice level of the Chili, but the young woman offered her a sample to try before she decided which I thought was really nice. She also gave us all the sauces for free since it was my first time visiting and I couldn't decide what to try. We ordered The Double Lucky, the Mushroom and Swiss Burger, Chili Cheese Fries and 2 Cherry Milkshakes. We also had an order of regular fries and a cherry Coke. I really liked the Mushroom and Swiss Burger, but I thought the sauce was a bit too sweet for me - I would maybe add bacon next time to cut that sweetness. The fries were hot and crispy and we thought the Chili Cheese Fries were great as well - the Chili had great flavor. My daughter and I enjoyed our Cherry Milkshakes too! They offer a different flavor of the month milkshake and lavender is the flavor for July, but since I am not a floral fan, I opted for a different flavor. Unlucky. Family and I were craving a burger after a quick trip to Gunther's (yes, dessert before dinner sometimes) and Lucky's popped up on our Yelp searches. We had high hopes for this cool looking spot, diner vibes that looked great inside and also had a cool bus to check out in their patio area -- should be a hit right?? Wrong. We were "greeted" upon entering, no smile, no actual greeting just a request to order our food. Customer service, 1 out of 5. Food was pretty bad and that's being generous. We bought the Lucky's Burger, Ranch Bacon and a PLAIN cheeseburger for our daughter -- of the three the plain burger probably tasted best. The sauces in our other burgers ruined the taste, too sweet, too salty and too overpowering. The patties also seemed to be frozen patties that had the consistency of a turkey burger. Buns were meh. Fries were also underwhelming, they might've also been frozen junk too -- they also might've accidentally given us a small instead of the large we ordered because the amount seemed less than the other photos i've seen here. Lucky's Drive-In is a hidden gem. Service is quick and friendly, and lots of tables to choose from indoors. I love the outdoor patio. It's dog friendly, has lights strung up everywhere, and the double decker bus will hopefully be open soon for seating. I have to give this a 5 star with some caveats (those are later) First, if clean is your thing then this is your place. Exceptional in terms of cleanliness. Second if you have kids, then again, this is your place. I was there on a Saturday about 2 pm and there were multiple families and the kids seemed to really enjoy the vibe. As for the food and service. Service was great - people are friendly and attentive. I had the Bacon BBQ burger - good - not great, but worth the $15 or so. If i had one critique it would be that the sauce was too heavy and just detracted from the experience. As noted, the Burger had too much sauce which made the burger very messy. The burger leaked all over my hands and I used the two paper napkins in about 3 seconds flat. I went to the counter to get more napkins but there were no dispensers. So then i went to the restrooms to grab a paper towel but both restrooms were occupied. Then I pointed out to the staff that they should have napkin dispensers for their guests - the staff could see i was getting aggro so she offered the hand sink in the kitchen! Nice! Great service. A+ A few detractions - this is clearly a restaurant that leans on SYSCO - a major food purveyor for the restaurant industry. Many reviewers like the fries and shakes - I'm 90% sure these are frozen fries from SYSCO (you'll find the same fries all over the place), and the meat in the burger is probably sourced from SYSCO as well. Don't get me wrong, still tastes fine - just not distinctive. How do I know? A giant SYSCO truck was in the parking lot making their delivery when I was there. As for the atmosphere - it feels like a "Jonny Rockets" style retro burger joint but lacking the 50s style charm. It's white and red and very sterile feeling. It has some 50s decor but it's all pho/plastic and not authentic. It's not the type of place where you'd want to spend any time. It feels very well suited for a shopping mall where people can pop in, eat a solid burger and shake, then get out. The owners clearly spent a lot of time and money converting the space from the dive bar it was to what it is now, but I don't think it's a good use of the space. It's huge - it's got a large patio and tons of parking. It's the kind of place that should have been designed for guests hang out for an hour or two and spend some money, but instead they designed a small menu, counter service restaurant with a sterile atmosphere, the quick service trifecta. I hope they make it, but a space that large must have a pretty hefty rent. They'll need to fill some seats and get some wallet share to survive. read more

Hidden gem! SERVICE: We were greeted by a nice woman who explained the menu to us. She even took extra care when I told her my son has a nut allergy but wanted a milk shake. FOOD: I had their delicious single burger. Everything from the perfectly cooked patty and the delicious sauce it was perfection. We also had the homemade cherry coke. Wow so yummy. AMBIANCE: This place is so cute. The star is the double decker bus in the back. That is what actually attracted us to the place while driving by. Plus the restaurant was very clean. Charming modern classic decor! KID FRIENDLY? Yes! Our kids had a blast hanging out in the patio and checking out the bus. Plus what kid does not love fries, a milk shake and cheese burger. Stopped by with our children for some burgers. We ordered the fries and burgers and shakes. The hamburgers were tasty and tasted charbroiled. The fries were really good and crispy. I liked the apple Carmel shake and my kids liked the strawberry shake. Parking is easy because they have a bigger one for the location. Came here on a whim never tried it always excited for a new eatery. We ordered the mushroom Swiss burger and fries was about 15 dollars for both and the ranch bacon burger with fries. The Swiss burger threw me off because it was sweet and I didn't see it say anything about being sweet onions or sauce so I didn't enjoy it so much the fries were good but the bacon ranch burger was delicious loved it so much. The service was fast but I had to let establishment know about my experience with the mushroom Swiss burger I let him know it was quite sweet he apologized I said it was ok. The inside is big and has lots of space and seating and seating outside that's were we sat good lighting with a 1950 diner vibe. Jose came outside to us and let me know he tasted the sauce they put on the burger and it was overly sweet so who ever mixed it that day did it he apologized again and gave us a coupon to come back and I appreciated it a lot I will be back thanks Jose. read more

Our experience was just okay. We came on a Sunday for lunch & it wasn't very busy. Oldies music plays in the background to add to the diner vibe. We went to the counter to order & received friendly customer service. The inside was roomy, comfortable, & fairly clean. I did have to wipe crumbs off our table though. Two restrooms require keys to open that are found on the order counter. We used one that was spacious & clean. We checked out the patio in back, but at the time a sign on the door leading out notified that the shade still needed to be replaced. It was a warm day & the sun was brutal. The double decker bus was neat to check out, but it's still just a shell & you should be wary of its hazards. Our eats & drinks-- The Lucky, fries, & drink combo The Double Lucky (ordered plain with just meat & cheese), fries, & shake combo Kids Cheeseburger The verdict-- Strawberry Lemonade--tasty, but no pucker Peanut Butter Oreo Shake of the Month--satisfying & good PB flavor Fries--good taste, great texture Lucky Fry Sauce--too sweet for me without zing Garlic Aioli--mild flavor & wished it had more punch Burgers--They were just meh for us. My Lucky was a decent burger. The bun was fine, lettuce seemed ok, had a lot of sweet sauce, but it wasn't sink-your-teeth-into flavorful or especially beefy tasting. The cheese even seemed like too much of a firm velveeta-esque situation. The Double initially came out as a single, but they apologized & quickly fixed it when it was brought to their attention, which was appreciated. Friendly staff, omg burgers (had the mushroom Swiss burger but added tomato and caramelized onions with my fresh)....mom had the bacon bbq and added shrooms. NOW let's talk about their fries!!!! Delish! The chili cheese fries were exactly what I had in mind. We ordered a double burger, chili fries, blt, and the mushroom swiss burger. The bun they use is soft and holds up well to the burger. They don't come with tomato, but you can add it. The sauce they use is almost like a thousand island dressing. They have a few different lemonades, we tried the blackberry and lavender, both were great, not fake tasting. Order at counter and take a seat. The patio is super cool, with a double decker bus and strings of lights. They allow pets outside. Bathrooms are super clean. Very cool, chill spot for a burger and fries. Hope we are in Sacramento again soon to try more items. read more

4.75- Lucky's drive- in! A really cute burger spot located off broadway and Franklin in Sacramento! Close to the famous Gunther's Ice cream! I have had this place on my list forever and finally tried it! I got the lucky burger with friends and a chocolate strawberry shake! The burger was really good! The fries reminded me of diner fries.. solid! The shake.. wasn't my favorite def tasted like not real flavors and processed flavors! The place is so cute and well decorated! The staff were also very nice! They have indoor and outdoor seating! This is deff a great spot to grab a burger! read more
