I had some screen on my lanai that was damaged. I got to talking with a neighbor and she recommended I call Lucky's rescreen who did some work on her pool cage to which she was very pleased with the work. I made the call to Lucky's rescreen, and I was lucky I did! They answer their phone (unlike some other companies around). They were very prompt, reasonable, and very knowledgable upon the materials and integrity of the cage. I could not be happier with the service I recieved! One star. Claimed to be licensed and insured. I filed a complaint with the licensing board and found him not on the list. Check with myfloridalicense.com. I hired him to paint and rescreen the pool cage. He said it would take 4 days to do the work, 2 days for painting and two days for rescreening. It took more than a week. He only worked afternoons, mostly after 4pm till way after dark. This bothered me and called him on that. Before he started painting, I asked him if he would cover the pool to prevent the paint from dropping on the water. He said no, he had a sprayer with short nozzle and that would not happen. The paint of course dropped on the concrete and water, and ruined the pool water. Cost us 4 trips to Leslie's Pool and $1200 to bring the water back to clear. The paint job was blotchy. I had to point all the spots that needed retouch. The rescreening job was unsatisfactory, lots of bubbles everywhere. He assured me that those will flatten after a few days. They did not, they became worse. Wind or no wind, the splines loosened. After two weeks, the panels on the whole side of the pool were all loose. One screen panel on the other side of the cage had a rip on the corner. I texted him to do a repair. He fixed the panels but said that he could not guarantee that it won't happen again. I said the splines maybe the problem. He said no. The next time it happened, I texted him again. He said he could not come because he was in the hospital, he took a 12 ft fall from one of his jobs and broke his neck and hands. When he got out of the hospital and looked at the loose panels, I showed him the difference in size of the splines he used and the one that was originally there. The original was thicker and sturdy, the ones he used thinner and flimsy. He said he used the thickest that was available to him. In my opinion, not the one that was right for the job, but one that he had. Anyway, after some time, we got some winds and two of the sreen panels ripped, and many loose again. He charged me $40 for the panels, he said he does not give them away for free (his 10 year warranty on material did not apply). I asked him to fix the other areas of the cage that were loose again. He said he would do those next time. I never heard from him again. I texted him, no reply. When we got another windy day, the same panels were blown by the wind. This time, he said he would not come, I am not his friend and he does not work for free. He was not working for free, I paid him to do a job and he was fixing that lousy job he did. This guy has an attitude, even called me a bully! When he did not respond to my text to fix the screen panels, I commented on his post on my house on facebook about the problem we were having on his work. He called me right away and tried to intimidate me, screamed at me and said he would not fix anything if I did not apologize and delete my comment. He was concerned his customers would read it. Lesson I learned is not to trust all those 5-star reviews, be mindful of the red flags and put all conversations in writing. Texts are preferable than phone calls. read more
